Art GinnyLyn's lame attempt to make her own banners

While I wait for someone else to help me with my banner problem, I attempted to make my own.
Auron: Heaven help us.
Hush you. All right, since I know I'm sometimes a little rough on all of your work, I expect I'll probably get some of the same treatment back.
Auron: *waiting to be amused* Hmmph.

Anyways, first one:

I hope to make a hand drawn one, Auron grinning darkly and brandishing his sword at an unseen fiend. Caption would read: "Better to be guarded than gutted."

I love them Ginny, they're fine. Why would anyone call them lame? I don't know if alot of people liked my new banners. I was sure somebody would have at least criticized it by now, but no one responded to my home made crunchy bannners thread.

I like both of those... They are clear and the quotes fit the pics rather well. You like Auron a lot don't you? :)

The only thing is that in the first image, I think the last line of text is a little too dark. It's kind of hard to read, especially on the left where it's against a black background. I don't know if anyone else has that problem though.

Anyway, the background in the first one is amazing, I just had to note that. I like the second one more, though, because I hate that first picture of Auron, only because of the orange glow. Where'd you get the pic in the 2nd one?! I can't find good Auron pics.

I have one of those thin, flat monitors... so images are "pixel perfect." Right now it isn't as hard to see as I rememeber it being last night....heh. I think I need new contacts :). Either way, I like both of these.

I would add another element....an extra layer, or a soft background, or something, to make it more banner-like, and less like a picture.

*points to Cera's post* And therein lies the reason I doubt my banner ability. I [i]know[/i] that banners should have a certain look to them, and I'm just not capturing it. (Please don't take this personally, Cera, I've would'a done it to [i]anyone[/i] that pointed out the background problem. ^_^)

That's why I'm taking art classes--to learn how to make some decent backgrounds for my charas--then I'll be in line for a really good job as an animator some day...*happily dreams and hopes*
