Kent
im starting to entertain the idea of building model gundams. im just wondering if anyone else does this. does anyone know a good web site to see which ones are the ones i'd want? im not really sure but, how much do they cost? im looking for all the info i can find but all the sites i find are just pictures and no really useful info. if anybody has built models before, could you tell me how building a gundam model compares to your average car/helicopter/airplane models. the gundams sure look sweet but finding sites for info is just rough. i couldnt even find anything from an official gundam site. could someone give me the address to the official gundam site. maybe the place i found wasnt the real thing!? oh well, thanks for your helpl and intrest. ducky_feet
The official site can be found at http://www.gundamofficial.com Go into the section of the Gundam series you like and try clicking on the "Products" link. You should find some information about the model kits there.
Amphion
A Gundam model is a little different from others. Some models can be put together quickly and have little work done to it and still look good. To get a Gundam model to look good your gonna have to be prepared to putty it, sand it, prime it, and paint it. Its not neccessary but like I said, if you want it to look good you have to do all of that. I have built a Tallgeese III, Wing, Ez-8, Tallgeese, Zaku II, and an Altron Gundam. They are fun but require alot of work. They are easy to build, but where all the hard work comes in is the finishing touches like puttying and sanding. They come pre colored too, but they just dont look right unless you paint them. I have not painted my Zaku II yet and it looks pink. Hope this helps you some, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask me.
Nimrod
I bought an RX-78GP03 Stamen model kit at a local Target. They had a bunch more. Your average kit will probably cost about $20. However, some of the Perfect and Master Grade ones can cost a lot more
Domon
Bah!!! Gundam Officical is totally boring and they don't have a wide selection of model kits. Go to www.gundamshop.com and click on the model icon and then you get to see all the models that you want. I do build gundam models but i end up goofing up on the paint and then i just say screw it and start back up on another day, and if you are new at this get the water saluable paints or just use the fine tipped permanent markers. Domon
The hardest model to build in my book would have to be the Master Grade Model kits as well as the Perfect Grades. Oh and don't think of even buying Perfect Grade kits, they vary from $100 clear up to $2,000 i think. So just stick with the master Grades, they are about the same detail but at a less expensive price.
Kent
right on, thanks domon. Ive been looking forward to building one but I dont wanna waste time on some simply snap together model. I know they are probally hard, but it really cant be that different from a normal model at a really hard level. thanks again, domon.
Emma
Most of the HGUC(High Grade UC) models are great. I have great fun building the Gouf(MSG), Zaku III(ZZ), Bawoo(ZZ) and GP01Fb(0083). However, many of my kits are not domestically available in US. If you are looking for something really difficult, try an older kit such as the Harma Harma from ZZ. You will need to glue and sand but the model is in great detail. I highly recommand the master grade kits. I have MG Zeta, Hyaku Shiki, Super Gundam, Zaku IIF and RGM-79(G). They are well worth every penny. Check out http://www.hlj.com. They are in Japan and they have the latest models.
ZeroBlade
Wow Domon. A perfect grade model doesn't cost $2,000! On average they cost like $250 in some places. I have the Perfect Grade Wing Zero Custom model for a bargin of $150 through my local anime provider. Perfect grades are a pain to put together. It took me a good week to mine together (I wanted it to be perfect) but the end result is just damning. Also that Gundam Unit 03 with that thing it rides is great too. Funny thing is that it isn't a Perfect grade but its the most expensive model I've seen cause it comes with SO MANY PARTS!!!! As much as I want it.. it hurts my wallet too much. My other model is a High Grade Gundam X Divider. Not as cool as my Wing Zero but good enough. Took an hour to put him together.
Domon
Sorry its just that i saw an online store that had perfect grade model kits for $1,00 so thats why i said don't try to get perfect grades yet, i would rather put together a nice master grade model kit instead. Guest LionSalt
A lot of american versions come with extra parts. you could throw those pieces away. Trust me on this one, I have been doing models for a while now, and it's happened to me alot. In the past 2 years I have built around 30 gundam models. :p

Guest 9Eagle7Dragon
A note about the lame badge thing: -You have to build ALL of the gundams in that skill level in order to send the card for the badge(s). -You can completly invalidate this procedure by just sending in the cards your friends and yourself collected in order to get the badge. Domon
So? I just build models cause i like to. I don't even care about the badge thing. *wanders off*
Arkadyz
Yeah Gundam model building can be alot of fun. Like was suggested earlier GundamShop is one of the best places to get Kits and they offer you alot of reviews. You can either build em and leave em as is or you can go really crazy and do all kinds of things to make em look perfect like the box art. I would atleast suggest getting some VERY thin black markers for doing the panel lines which makes the model look alot better...That and sanding the rough edges are all you really need to do. Yeah if your just in it to have alittle fun stick to 1/144 HGs. If your alittle more serious the MGs look really great and come in near perfect colors. For me personally i only build PGs once a year...They have amazing detail great color and the whole deal...Take awhile to build but well worth it ;) Well whatever you choose have fun and enjoy oh and try not to buy from TRU they rip you off on prices most of the time
Magnum Apex
I built the little Deathscythe model, and I gave my little bro the big Wing Zero Gundam Custom to build. He told me he was done it three hours, and my mom backed up that statement. I prefer the already-built action figures, though. I have Tallgeese III and Wing Zero Gundam Custom from the Archenemy line. They look COOL.
Guest Musahi
ZeroG214, how does the Perfect Grade kit actually look now that you have put it together though? What deviates it from the Master Grades and such? Anyway I have done quite a bit of modeling myself. I would say I have roughy 40 models, ranging from Level 1 to Level 5. Epyon is probably my favorite suit for the Mobile Report Gundam Wing models. Mainly because it turned out the best for me. A few weeks ago I kinda lost my passion for modeling, but then I remembered how fun it was to put them together. I am saving up for a Perfect Grade anything really. Any suggestions? Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
I use to be into Gundam Models a long time ago, about 2 years ago. Most of the Gundam Models at least for Gundam Wing are easy because they are snap togethers. Though if you get other models like From Zeta and the Original they are the ones with glue which means you only get one chance at building it. Overall though they are pretty fun, my last model ironically was the Custom Wing Zero Perfect grade which can be possed in many positions and is very fragile. To answer you question the Perfect Grade is a Japanese only model kit that is about 2 times the size of the Master Grade, it's extremely fragile, and runs for about 199 dollars in most import shops.
