(<AA>)
Imagine a world with no internet, no cellphones, no computers, and no phones... the only means of communications was snail mail, and you knew almost nothing besides what the TV said was true... Would you survive in that kind of world???
Kei
It is very odd to think how the world would be without all of our technological advances. It'd probably be more like it was back in the late 1800's in a way. I mean, we'd still have to rely mail carriers, which take forever. Things like the Boards would never exist, and people from different countries couldn't communicate as freely as they can now. We'd find a way to get by, but it would be harder. And more boring.
Semjaza
Well I'm assuming we'd still have the same mail delivery services we have now... Honestly, it's not that bad to have to wait like 2 or 3 days for a letter lol. If we'd still have TV and Radio for news and enterainment type stuff... I can't say I'd really miss phones, internet or computers. Half the time I'd rather do without them anyway.

Charles
The worst part of no internet is that I would have never seen that banner of Semjaza Azazel's. :excited: Best--Banner--Ever. Life wouldn't be unbearable without those things. In fact, less cel phones would help in a way. I know that hordes of teens would kick, stomp and get all red in the face, but without cel phones, their writing and reading skills would improve tremendously. With all this technology, we're becoming a more talk-oriented world, and a lot of youngsters suffer because of that. Even in college, I noticed someone using "u" to represent "you" in a draft of an essay. Suffice to say, I scratched furious insults and pen markings upon his paper. Plus, every English/Writing class I have begins with the same mundane lecture i.e. the differences between your and you're, they're and their, and finally its and it's. Also, a lot of people say alot or alright instead of all right. I mean, at a certain level you shouldn't have to be reminded of those things. Thank you cel phones! RicoTranzrig
I would probably survive. Think of the Hobbits in LOTR...they live simple lives. Technology is great but it can really complicate our lives, mostly the communications part of it anyway.

I am in fact 1/6 Amish. I live without the basic Technologies 1/6th out of the year. Its tough but I manage. Its really hard without the PS2, I damn near killed myself.
(<AA>)
Oh, come on people! You can't really be telling me that if you were stripped of this much technology, that you would actually be living happily! I for one definetly wouldn't be. especially if there was no internet, and phones, but I'm already living without a cell phone, so its ok. But without the Internet... life would be really boring

There is WAY more to life than the internet. You know the outside isnt evil. And there are strip joints, those are fun too. You should just try living without the internet. I got my broadband taken away from me two years ago, and I was really mad at the time, but I tell ya it was the best thing to ever happen to me. I dont spend as much time inside, I have more friends, and I have some really fun hobbies. I tell ya life without the internet is somewhat a good thing. Like a double edged sword. She is demonic mistress and she only want is your soul....... um yeah.

That's very true. I used to be a chronic Internet junkie a couple years back, but now that I'm older, I have a lot more to do, and more people to hang out with occasionally. Plus, I have to write for my school newspaper and I'm on Junior Board at my school, so I can't log on that much, but I don't really care. It may be boring in my little life, but there are many more things to life than the Internet.
Transtic Nerve
The internet gets borign after about... a year. I rarely find anything to do other than talk to freinds now-a-days. Imagine living onlyon the net your whole life, I'd kill myself.
(<AA>)
You guys don't get it, here (Saudi Arabia) there's no means of transportation besides cars, that's right, No buses, no trains. So, the only way to go out is if you can drive, or if your dad will take you. And anyway there are only malls here, and I got bored of those a long time ago. And TN I've been on-line for like 3+ years and I've not even begun to get bored... But, when I was in back in my own country, I had no internet connection, but it was fun, 'cuz I could actually go out almost as much as I want. So, I guess its a matter of what you can do besides go online, that makes the diffrence.
Manic Webb
I don't own a cell phone, I didn't get a computer until I was 16, I didn't have internet access until I was 14 (WebTV), I don't talk on the phone very often. I lived 13 years without internet or a computer, so I'm sure if I were stripped of those now, I'd adjust... eventually. My only gripe would be no phones at all. There's still a lot of stuff out there for me to do. I can travel, get a non-technical job, or just go to amusement parks a lot. :)
Soccer 4 Life
Internet as well as the cellphone, computer, and the phone aren't necessary for human survival. People survived without them in the past and some people in the world still survive without them..... Although life would be pretty boring without the use of these resources .... Semjaza
I don't know... sometimes I think I am making myself think the internet is fun, when 90% of the time it simply isn't. I mostly use it to talk to people I wouldn't get to otherwise. If I didn't have these thimgs, then I would just find something else to do. I don't think I'd be that upset that it was gone after the initial shock either. Glad you like the banner
zidane11
Well if you think about it most of us wouldn't. Mainly because the population is so huge. It would be hard to get enough food. Man in generall would still survive, but it would probaly decrease the population. I'm just glad that I was born in this era. Without all that stuff then there wouldn't be an otakuboards.com!
Mitch
There is more to life. As for if mankind could live without technology--ceratainly. Do you think life was always as convinient, easy, accessible, as it is today? Obviously not. I mean, although I couldn't see myself back in the 1930's, life was hard then...very, very, hard. Just think not even having a home to come home to, a parent to support you financially, just think...Also I would like to talk deeper about the benefiets and disadvantages of technology. I think that our world will end because of us, whether it be by our own hands, or by something which we create. Technology is needed, but it will be our downfall. It will, although not within the reaches of any of this generations' lifetimes, it will happen. It can already be seen in todays world--Global Warming (just imagine temperatures in the 200 degrees...it sounds unbelieveable) , destruction via nuclear weapons and so on....
PiroMunkie
It would be interesting. No technology would actually force me to get up off my lazy bum and do something for a change. People would eventually adapt, it is what humans have always done. Only the strong survive, so we wouldn't have to worry about "stupid" people in the world. Though who is to say that you or I is not one of those people... ?

I suppose it depends on exacly what you mean--if everything listed were simply to disappear, that would be hugely different than living when it simply hadn't been developed. You'd be used to different things, and whatnot. If everything simply stopped working--I think society, collectively, would have a meltdown. Remember the hysteria before Y2K? Imagine if the worst-case scenario had actually happened, multiplyed by all the gadgets that aren't exclusively computer-operated. Again, living in a society where all those modern 'conveniences' hadn't been developed would be probably healthier. More face-to-face contact, actually people skills, fewer distractions, and no annoyances speaking on cel phones in public or while driving....
