Slade doesn't bother to look at Siren.

Slade: There around here somewhere. Whos that behind you??

Siren wonders how he knew someone was with here without glancing over.

Valentyne: I'm Valentyne. Who is this Si..

Slade interrupts her: I'm Slade just someone who wondered in really.

Slade gets up and walks into where he left Seth and starts training himself.

Slade: Seth, care to spar against me?

Rae walked in eyes lgihting up as she saw the occupants. "Tinny!" She squealed. Valentyne glared at her, and Rae settled down. "Sorry..."

"Yeah, its okay, Rae-Rae. We know your mental capacity only allows emotions."

"Har har. Funny."

"I thought so." Rae smiled at Valentyne. It was good she was back.

Celest continues down the road and into the bar.

Celest: bartender, i need the cheapest drink you got.

Bartender: coming right up.

Celest walks and sits on a stool and ponders. she knows they are looking for her, both of them.

Bartender: rum, on the house.

Celest: why?

Bartender: because you look so sad, drown your sorrows kid.

Celest: right.

Celest drinks it in one gulp and sighs. She takes out her gun and looks at it. then looks at what she had given the boys. It was like a soda can. but when fixed with emotion becomes what it needs to be, a gun, posion gas, grenade, anything. She puts back into her pocket.

Seth: Sure. Let's go. Do you want to go hand-to-hand or practice weapons?

Slade: Hand-to-hand. It a better work out.

(Seth walks over to the gym mat and starts to stretch. Slade does the same. They look up at each other and walk toward the center.)

Slade: (smiling) Ready?

Seth: (also smiling) Ready.

(The session begins........)

Slade and Seth spar for awhile non of them showing any of their true strengths.

Slade (as he's fighting Seth): So you were a Necreen.

Seth attacks only to be blocked by Slade

Seth: yup

Slade then counter attacks with a quick and pointless kick, as Seth easily dodged it.

Slade: So why are you here now and not with Gatain... what happened?

Seth: (sidestepping a jab) Contrary to popular belief, the Gatain don't really care for the necreen. The Crin actually had quite a few of the Gatain leaders in their pocket. My father was commander when the necreen assasin came to claim him.... When I was supposed to claim him. My master used a Gatain herb to put me to sleep and then went to kill father. They both died as a result; my father was a strong fighter. I was fed up with the crookedness of the "honorable" Gatain and I am also necreen, so I had two good reasons to leave.

Slade: So why are you here?

Seth: I crave the rush, plus I have the urge to eliminate as many crin leaders as I can in the process.

Slade: Kind of like revenge for corrupting your father?

Seth: Exactly.

Slade luanches his next attack and finally knocks the necreen to the floor. Slade then reaches for Seths arm with his and pulls him back up to his feet.

Slade: Not all Crin are corrupt. You should not feel guilty for your father. He chose his path as you have chosen yours. Your father took the money to make his family better and while it was not the right choice in your eyes in the eyes of a husband and a father wanting the best for his family it seemed right. Family can be its own way to corruption you should remember that. Well it has been a good sparring match, thank you.

Seth: Crin corrupted my father because he had a family.

Slade: Yes, Crin are taught its easier to corrupt a father than warrior. That is why I see your anger and understand. But make sure you dont die in the process, cherish what your father sold himself for... your life.

Slade then walks over and sits down on a nearby bench

Valentyne looked at Rae, "I'm guessing that you all had to deal with Siren's cooking while I was gone, so I'll cook tonight."

"Hey, what's wrong with my cooking?!" Siren asked, looking at Valentyne.

"Nothing, nothing. Just let me cook for now on." Valentyne responded, heading to the kitchen.

(Seth watches Slade as he walks away. How could someone with so much turmoil on the inside be so insightful? Seth knows that Slade has been through alot; his "gift" allows him to see that much. It is obvious that Slade does not follow his own advice.)

Seth: (half yelling to catch Slade's attention) Why do you do that to yourself?

Slade: What?

Seth: I can feel emotions, and I can feel power. Both of these, you have. I want to know why you have such turmoil inside.

Slade: Necreen and soulreader? My, my, don't we have talent?

Seth: My training required that I explore myself in both mind and body. I'm just lucky.

Slade: If times ever got rough, a least you could be a gypsy.

Seth: (dryly) Ha Ha. Now, back to the task at hand. I want to know what is going on with you Slade. Tell me what you get out of all of this. Only a fool would partake in this operation without having some kind of agenda. I can read souls, but mindreading is beyond me.

Slade: But it's not beyond....

Seth: We can talk about her later. Now, spill it.

Seth: No, you asked me questions its time to hear you answer some.

Slade: My agenda is secret right now. As for my inner pain well your right I have some but not like your probably thinking.

Slade then sighs and walks away from Seth.

Rae stopped and sniffed the air, sighing contentedly. Valentyne's cooking. So much better than hers, or Sirens. Walking up to Valentyne, she sighed happily and sat down. "I lvoe you, you know. I wouldn't survive without your food...I wouldn't survive with Siren's food."

Siren called out from the lounge room. "I heard that! There is nothing wrong with my cooking!"

"Yeah, except for the edibility factor," Rae whispered as Valentyne chuckled. "Siren," Rae called out, walking in to sit down opposite her. "I think I sorta let slip about the mind reading."

"Oh, Rae, not again. You know you freak people out about that."

"Yeah, but sometimes I can't tell if people are thinking it or saying it. A persons voice is the same in their head as in real life..."

Twitching, Siren rolled her eyes. "You should be thankful that you learnt how to block out thoughts, or you'd be insane by now."

"As if I'm not already."

"Who's insane?" Valentyne called out.

"Big ears! I am. Anyone attempting to break in there has to be insane. Or foolish. Or both."

Seth: (to himself) Good workout anyway, I guess I ought to hit the shower.

(Seth goes into his room, sheds his clothes and eventually lets the hot water run down his body)

Seth: I wonder why everyone is so cryptic? It's obvious that everyone has some kind of secret agenda, well everyone except Siren. Well, I won't let it bug me anymore, it's not like I won't know beforehand if someone is going to betray me. Soulreading can be a beautiful thing sometimes.

(Suddenly Seth feels something reaching out to him. No doubt it's Rae, but she doesn't realize it.)

Seth: Damnit! we're gonna have that wierd backlash crap. I wish that I had spoken to her about it before. If we don't get in synch, this will be a big headache. Hell, might as well start now......

(Seth closes his eyes and traces the faint power back to Rae)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
back in the kitchen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Rae moans with pleasure.)

Siren: What the hell was that for?

Rae: Seth. He's a soulreader. He must've felt some backlash, so he touched me. Oh my god, it was beautiful.

Siren: I still don't understand.

Rae: (still smiling) Sometimes when two people have powers such as ours, there is a clash, a sort of conflict of power. But if the two powers can learn to exist as one, the static disappears.

Siren: Who said that Seth was a soul reader?

Rae: What you just saw was him letting me know. It seems that we synch quite well, so it won't take too much time.

Siren: From that look on your face, I don't think that you would care if it took forever.

(Rae just leans back with a faint smile on her face and heads back to the kitchen.)

Siren: This is going to be a long operation.

Celest now stands in front of the base. Miki is siting there, waiting. She bends down and miki trots up to her and licks her face. She smiles.

Celest: where's everyone miki?

Miki barks and walks into the base. She follows, and arrives down in the hall wway. She looks around silently. Then walks and sits on the couch and pulls out a ginger ale.

"Hey, Rae-Rae?" Valentyne spoke, getting the plates out. "Tell your little friends if they want to eat, they might wanna come and get it..."

Rae smiled brightly, "Ok, Tini."

"How many times must I ask you not to call me that?"

"Don't know..." Siren laughed, looking at Valentyne's glare.

"What's so funny?"

"You both are." she said, grabbing one of the plates full of food.

"So, met any men?"

"Val!" Siren yelled, fakely punching her in the arm.

"What? I can't ask! It's not like I'm seeing anything?"

"Well..."

"Don't say anything...I'll talk to you later." Valentyne spoke, hearing the others walking towards the kitchen.

Rae walked back into the kitchen, the troops behind her. "You know," she remarked, "I could get used to groupies. Having people walk behind me all the time. I could get used to being a princess...." Her hands lifted up her hair and she twirled around, like a little girl.

Siren groaned. "Rae, you do realise if you hadn't left the Mirwell, then you'd actually be that important?"

"Oh." Rae's day dream shattered. "Right. I forgot that." She blushed, then left sat down to eat.

As the others sat down with her, conversation flowed freely. Listening, Rae absently pulled her bottom lip down with her fork. Valentyne noticed, and raised and eyebrow. "Didn't your Mother ever tell you not to play with your cutlery?"

Rae snorted. "No. I was raised by nannys. Nurses. I only saw my mother at bed time."

"Then how'd you learn to shoot?" Seth asked.

"Weapons master. Real nice bloke. Tried to kill me just before I ran away, but he was still nice. He also taught me other weapons, but I prefer firearms. More fun."

"Freak," Siren called out.

"Speaking of which," Rae stated, "Fun, that is," she clarified as the others looked amused. "Has anyone seen Celest? Or Miki? I don't know where they are."

"Oh, they'll find their way back to us eventually. Don't worry. If she were in trouble, she'd find a way to tell us."

"So," Valentyne asked, cutting in. "What do we want for dessert?"

They're all gathered around a table eating and Slade is watching the females war with eachother and then hears them say that Rae is royalty and a Mirwell. Slade decides to unhid his abilities and consider the new problem that he got himself into as this group seems to be more special then he first thought. Seth feels Slades powers suddenly now realizing that Slade has been hiding them all this time and also realizing that Slades secret agenda isn't so secret to him anymore (only Crin counter intellegence and spies are trained in that technic).

Seth (looking at Slade): you should eat more food, next time Siren could be cooking.

Slade (luaghs): Yeah, you could be right. But ill take my chances.

Siren glares at Seth and replies "My cooking is not bad!"

Valentyne: Sure, and thats how come our ship was without a kitchen for awhile after you tried making toast.

Almost everyone gets a small luagh in as they hear what Valentyne said.

Siren (angry at Valentyne for telling that story): So that was one time and the toaster was broken.

Slade is now looking at Siren, luaghing under his breathe Seth is also luaghing to himself as most of the others by now. Siren not thinking its very funny.

Slade: I guess I now know who I dont wanna have cooking for me... not if I wanna live anyway. *smiles* Thanks for the dinner. Now I also wonder whats for desert?
