When me and my friends started the game, (this was before we got Jecht spheres) we blamed Auron for Jecht being drunk all the time, I mean a big bottle of Sake strapped to his hip!
I reckon him having to look after Tidus converted him into a drunk...

Does anyone else make funny stuff up about the characters?
eg. Wakka has a huge crush on Seymour, this would answer why he always doen't believe that "Master Seymour" wouldn't do that.
We used to do voices for the characters in FFVIII. We'd give Selphie a squeaky voice, Rinoa a soft out of breath then shouting voice. Zell a lisp Seifer used to sing and stuff like that, Squall was the only normal person. I think we might of given Quistis and Irish accent...

any way ON topic, I've only started playing my own FFX game, but my friend's been playing it for a couple of weeks (she has a busy life of putting off school work by hanging with her bf and all us) anyways, and this is the fastest she's gone through a game. she's had FFVIII for three years, she keeps starting new games on that and stopping again and hasn't finished it. so yeah, I reckon FFX is pretty easy... I'm a battle mad person so I just run in and bash the hell out of feinds

Although the switching out charas thing was immensely helpful, knowing whose turn was going to be next on the turn meter to the right of the screen rather killed most of the elemental of battle--made it real easy to get through the fighting part.

Heh, funny. Maybe he's got the collar to cover up his drunken breath! XD  I wanna know why the heck he carries a sake bottle around, period. You'd think someone would have said something during Braska's journey. [melodramatic]Maybe it has something to do with refusing the priest's daughter's hand, among bits of tragic childhood memories.[/melodramatic]
What? It's possible. (So says my fanfic, anyway.)

Another one of the things we've made up as that Auron smells really bad that's why he overkills so much, cause him lifting his arm causes his stench to kill the monsters. . . poor characters, we always find some way to degrade them :nope:
yeah I'd like to know too, I bet if ya ask one of the character designers they'd say cause it looked good.

You remember that 3D bit after you play blitzball and stuff and you see Auron? when that was over my friend's mum was like Awww! (she really likes Auron, that much she's gettin a wall scroll of him)

OFF TOPIC
*beats Duo over the head a few times for the first paragraph*
*laughs*
"Because it looks good" is always one of my character designing reasons. IMO, they botched the young version of Auron, 'cause they editted off the older one, blehh. NomadWandering had a good piccy of an anime chara that looks more like a young Auron than young Auron did. @_@

I know just the FMV you are talking about. I believe my siggy image comes from the FMV where they get warped to Spira (that's Sin behind him, not some pretty cliff). IMO, Tidus looks terrible in the FMVs. It's the one time I prefer a chara to stay in game animation instead of FMV animation. (Let's say FMV a few more times, blehhhh.)

BACK ON TOPIC
Another thing that was too easy about this game was Anima. Once you got him, it's Insta-Kill everywhere, whee. Even the Tonberrys keel over from him. Actually, that's not so bad...the Tonberrys have been wreaking havoc on my poor charas.

One thing about Auron; why does he have his hand cradled like that? I mean, at first I thought it was broken or something...and I thought "Yeah, that's a unique idea for the character". And then I saw him use it in battle...

So is there actually a point? lol
I know exaxctly why Auron cradles his arm like that..... *SPOILERS COMING, SPOILER COMING!!! Well er kinda...............*

Ok, well we know that Jecht sacrificed himself instead of Braska, thus when a Samurai's master is killed, he holds his arm in a sling to issue his respect for him, and to state the point that he is now a no-mad. But Jecht, Auron and Braska became best friends, and in a way it states a sort of resemblance to someone very respected or close to the sword master, Auron. So as he carries an overly large Katana,(So sources say for his weapon) then it resembles him being a Samurai, thus the theory of the cradled arm. I searched in Myths and Legends of the Martial Arts books for Samurai imformation, hope I could've helped.

Wow cool thanks Zidane for that useful information, i have always wondered why he did that, i thought it was just to make him look even cooler 0.o.

Yeah, Zidane is exactly right. Auron was modeled heavily after traditional samurais of old. Thus the "ponytail" and the red kimono/cloak. I still maintain that he injured that shoulder bad during the major Y. battle, and that gives him another reason to "cradle" it.

(Color changed--highlight only if you want to read)
Tidus does come back. Remember when, in the ending FMV, when the three pyreflies swirl around him and he swims up? Turns out that the three pyreflies are Braska, Jecht, and Auron, and the three give up their essences so that Tidus can return back to Spira, and thus, back to Yuna.

Well, on some of the bosses, I just got cocky and too sure of myself and was toasted. My fault.

But yes, some of the bosses on this game ARE hard. I've been in a few situations where I fight until I'm about to die, and I'm spazzing because I fought for sooooo long, and here we go, one last hit then I guess I'll let it kill me--then I manage to pull it off at the last minute. I love those kind of boss fights.

The Evrae Worm, I bet he means...
man that was annoying...

First time, I died. Second time, I survived and got killed by one of the soldiers with a firepack right after. Then I died again, and then I finally did it, lol

I must admit, that FMV where they land on Bevelle is awesome..

Oh, I know!!

All the Guado Guys + Morticus (you know who I mean) and the Gate Keeper (I think?) rank in the close call fights. The "Red Carpet" of Bevelle was a pain in the butt--but that was because I tried to stay as far away as possible the first time. That's right--the first time. Oy. Spectral Keeper was another pain in the butt, but only 'cause I wasn't using my head about the platforms. The 3-part Zanarkand boss was the worst...took me 4 or 5 tries to kick her tail.
As for the final final boss? Pfft. First time, baby. Oh how I  Auron! (His was the final winning attack for my file.)

OK, time for some talk in FFX's defense. ;)

Do you recall the first few games of each new system that comes out? I especially remember several of N64's--Mario 64, Zelda 64, etc. And you'll notice that the visual/audio aspects are generally paid attention to first. Content usually follows, and is altered accordingly. Or vice versa.

What I'm saying is that FFX was the first FF of the PS2, and (somewhat unfortunately) more attention was given over to audio (mostly) and visual effects, rather than the content (IMO, the reverse was true for FF7--content over graphics). Even with the advent of the DVD technology, the massive amounts of graphics eats memory up faster than anything (I should know, I am in multimedia programming).

I'm not completely excusing FFX. Squaresoft may have wanted to impress with all this flashy stuff on one disk, but it suffered as a result, as we can see by this thread. ;) As I said earlier in this thread, spreading the game over two disks wouldn't have been all that shameful--but how else would you extend the story? There is such thing as TOO much content *cough*FF9*cough* IMO, the switching out charas was fun, but probably the core of why the game was so easy.

The FF crew could have done better, but regardless, I still love this game--always will.

O_O What the hell does this have to do with FFX? (Quistis wouldn't sound right with an Irish accent anyway)

Heheheh, I'm gonna leave your post there and make you look stupid. :p

But why talk about Quistis and Irish accents? Silly peoples.

Come on now! Final Fantasy 10 wasn't that easy. Easier then FFVII, and the other playstation releases. But it was still a pretty hard game. You could tell the main focus was on the graphics though. That is true. ;) No matter how easy it is, it's still a fun, addicting game!

You're being to defensive here and taking it like it was a blow to the game to say it was easy. Know, I love Auron just like you, he's almost as cool as Sephiroth. The characters in FFX were great, the battle system was great, the graphics were great, lots of things were great. It was pretty easy, though. So what, just a small drawback, you've still got a solid 50 hours of play in it. But comparitively speaking, FF3(6 Japan), FF7, and so on were much more challenging, and, I think, were much more better story-wise. I'm not saying FFX was a crappy game, because it wasn't, but I'm saying out of all the Final Fantasies thus far, it wasn't the best.

I Think the only time when it is easy is when they get their lengenery weapons if you manage to get the power up items because mostly its one hit-KO!

I was really disapointed in the ending bosses. I think my little brother could have beaten them by just mashing buttons! Although I really did like FFX(mostly because it was by far better than FFIX) it really did suffer from being too easy. When playing a final fantasy game I expect to get a game over at least 3 times the first time I play the game. I dont think I ever got a game over in FFX.

So although I really liked the sphere grid, blitzball, cool weapons, cool graphics, cool sound, sweet movies, etc, etc... The game was still hurt by the fact that it was easy.

I play final fantasy games for a couple of reasons(when you get right down to it), here they are in no particular order
1) they are long
2) RPGs
3) in worlds not of my own
4) the storys
5) hard games
6) they are entertaining

Because of the character change out, the general easyness of the bosses, and the legendary weapons the game was just way too easy.

Another point is that there just wasnt enough stuff to do. Sure there were side quests but...come on. There was a huge world and I felt like I didnt even play through a 4th of it all!

GAH!

Ginny is correct generally, except for her comments about Mario 64/Zelda 64 (these games were based soley on the principles of gameplay and movement in a 3D environment -- graphics/audio well and truly took a back seat, even though they were noteable on their own).

As far as the general topic goes, I don't think FFX is too easy. The only thing I dislike about it is the pacing. Sometimes you'll fight a damn hard boss, only to find that the next boss is easier than anything you've fought thusfar. That seems to me to be a bit unbalanced.

But generally speaking, Final Fantasy X provides plenty of challenge. The bosses are often not a pushover...and those stupid sphere puzzles (whilst incredibly arbitrary and thus highly annoying) are nonetheless, confusing at some points.

Yeah, like James said, the game was fairly easy upto where I played it (can't even remember where now) apart from those Yevon Temple puzzles where it's all dark and gloomy, or too bright to see, and the holes in the walls just camouflage themselves and the orbs and the...
