NeoCactuar
Just a question for all our GTA fans on OB. When did you all pick up the series? Was it GTA3? Or was it pig ugly graphics, great gameplay GTA? It's just interesting to know what people think about the old ones, and were any of you big fans of the original? I myself owned GTA a few weeks after it came out, and i was hooked ever since. Bought GTA London, the GTA2, and finally GTA3, where the game just came into it's own. And of coarse i will buy the soon to be, GTA VC...
Chaos
I bought GTA the day it hit the stands, I got the Directer's Cut some weeks after it's realese, and I got London as soon as I actually found it. I play GTA2 a bunch, but I downloaded it on my computer cuz I can't find the CD version...><;; VC shall be mine... No matter what. I would even put up with Walmart employees to get it! *dun dun dunnnnnnn*

Foredaddy
I had the demo for the PC. I used to play it constantly
Semjaza
I played the demo on the PC when it was first being included with PC magazine demo CDs. It was cool, but nothing amazing... There was really nothing to it other than drive from point A to point B. I still had some fun with it though :).
Zidargh
Old School GTA hmm? Maybe because I never realised that there was no other game like it, he he. So I just kept borrowing GTA, but then I bought GTA3, well my dad did for my school reports= goodness, but that's another story he he. So I just loved the tension and thrill of stealing cop cars and driving away, he he.
Gohan
I had GTA as soon as it came out, bought London a few months after it came out, Gta2 which in my opinion was the best PS version, i got it a long while after it came out and Gta3 was just one of my favourite games. I just finished taking a look at some screen shots of Vice City and nothing will stop me from owning that game!
Red
Started playing the original GTA on the playstation when it first came out, and I bought London for the PC. After that I bought GTA:2 and almost cried when I heard about a 3D GTA going to the PS2..
James
We used to have GTA on school computers...which was fun. But I didn't really get into the series until GTA2. GTA2 was just so much more...it was really more like a 2D version of GTA3, in terms of the freedom and variety in missions. So yeah, GTA2 was probably the game I remembered most. I didn't know how well the game would translate into 3D...but it obviously translated pretty well, despite some annoyances (like the aiming from within the car, etc). Personally, there's only one thing I want them to fix with GTA:VC...and that is the driveby shootings. They controlled so poorly in GTA3...I could never really get the hang of them. I mean, I can use them when I need to...but I always found those missions to be more of a chore than anything else. If they make it more fun the next time around, that would be a big improvement. ^_^
Turkey
I, having many chances to buy GTA2 for Dreamcast, ignored it. In fact, it wasn't until this Summer that I played GTA3. Now I own the PC version, and I'm looking for GTA2 (PC).
Guest SunRiZe
I bought GTA about a year or 2 after it first came out, then i got GTA London and GTA2 in the same year. Now I also have GTA 3, before having a PS2. The classic GTA has larger map's. that's about the only advantage it has over GTA 3. And it also looks like I'll have GTA vC before ny ps2 as well o_0
Foredaddy
Thats pretty much what I want. Larger maps would make the game that more interesting. Plus flying helicopters is gonna kick.
Guest SunRiZe
Yeah, I like the idea of the helicopters too, and the sharks in the water? can you get attacked by them? seen as you usually instantly die when you touch water, having sharks that wiped you out if you got too deep would be more realistic

I can just imagine standing out the back of a boat, blowin' up them sharks with a Rocket Launcher. Wheee. I'll hunt 'em... Hopefully Rockstar have put a 'Number of Sharks killed' in the stats screen.. Yup... Number of Sharks... Sharks... And helicopters... And... Blimps... ... ... Guest cloricus
I loved gta 1 & 2, and was waiting patiently as gta3's (revised edition...) release date was pushed back and back... (Don't ask the shop I bought it from they might give you another story...) But by the time it did come out I had spent the money I was going to buy it with and saved up a new lot so I bought it out right the day it came out. :) Gta1 and 2 don't run on xp so I've been really p***ed at that I love playing them. I might even have to buy a ps2 because VC is only on ps2, I could always buy the game and then get an emulator and run it on the pc... -Lord Epssy Err, I think VC will be released on PC. After all, GTA3 was, right? - Flash Well it will be exclusive to PS2 for at least 4 years, or mabye 6. I can't remember the exact info, but at least 4. - NeoC -No, *crys* oh well looking at the way the ps2 is drop in price I might just save up and get both.-
LostProphet
I got hooked on GTA2. It's really cool, and even better because I got it for free. Everything free is good! Bit more effort here and there, please.- Break
Acid
Well, I still have and play the original GTA for the Playstation. I must say, I feel that it is still the best of series. :p I'll probably get hit for that, but whatever. GTA III while fun, grew old too fast for me. But the first GTA I play every day and I have had it for around 3 years now. :) Even when I am not doing the missions running around and seeing how many cops I can kill, how many cars I can steal, and of course running over the marching band in the first cite. ;) So I would have to say yes, I do stil play the older GTA games.
