Manic Webb
We've gone into small arguments about this in other threads, but now I want it to all hang out! No, not that ;) I want to know what types of music you don't like. Give a valid reason why you don't like it. None of this "it sucks" or "I'm basing my entire opinion off of only one artist/band" bullfeces. If there's no type of music you hate, all the power to you. Semjaza
I don't really hate any type of music. I can't get into most rap, country, current R&B (the old stuff was great... really old stuff hah) or some other off genres. If other people want to listen to it, that's fine by me. I know many people who'd rather die than listen to some of my favorite bands, but I think that's their problem lol.

I pretty much agree with what you just said Semjaza. Although, I think country is my least favorite type of music, there are the few artists that I really like. Toby Keith, no matter what anyone might say about him, is one of my favorite country artists. And for country, that is really saying something big coming from me. A lot of rap now isn't really rap anymore, it's just talking (or complaining) with a beat going on behind you. . . lol. I think a lot of music on alternative stations is all cry babies, whining about their lives (or. . at least what they wrote down on their lyric sheets. Oh well. . there is something of every genre that I will never like. Such is the way~
Fall
quite frankly, I don't like anything apart from the normal old Alternative Rock style. I mean, most of Creed's songs are around AR or Rock, Chad Croger, Pearl Jam, etc... I find that most of the songs I like are rock-type songs. Not one song do I like that is hip-hop, rap, and stuff like that. I just like plain old good songs....yeah...o.O
Avalon
I don't like pop that much. Just the way it sounds irritates me...it sounds too happy. It's very weird...

DeathKnight
I really dislike pop. It's so overplayed, and overhyped, that if you could like it after hearing it 14 times in 2 hours on the radio makes you puke. I'm mainly into heavy metal and rock. I can tolerate most everything else, but I really hate country. Its just not my style of music I guess. Heh. -K

Rancid
If i wrote down all the music I hate you guys would be reading for half an hour. I don't keep an open mind when it comes to music. I hate mostly everthing but Punk. Some alternative is alright at times but I especially hate nu-metal. Omar Harris
I love all forms of music, I'm just eclectic I guess, but I have a hard time really getting into a lot of modern songs. Most modern rap is commercialised or focused solely on selling the artist product, or having the artist brag about how many "hoes" he's bagged, how much money he makes, how big his car tires are, the clothes he wears and the house he lives in. I can't turn to a rap station anymore without hearing stuff like "ice" and "bling-bling" anymore. I usually tune out the message and just listen to the beat of the music nowadays. A lot of modern "teeny-bopper" pop sounds the same. Seriously, what is the difference between a Backstreet Boys song, an NSync song, etc.? I like them too but there is so very little variety in most of it unless you have the unique artist like Michelle Branch (*eyes turn into hearts*) or Vanessa Carlton (*heart eyes get bigger*). Nowadays I find dance (*heart eyes crush the world at the sight of Paulina Rubia*), rock, and heavy metal. Though I find that there's no need to scream about how "bad" the lead singer's life is, its nothing better than what rap is doing sometimes, so I don't complain. treton_noir
i dont like the idea of pop radio. there is too much commercialization of music. a record company hears a band and rushes their album before its finished creating another one-hit wonder. they dont seem to realize (or care) that they are screwing themselves. one hit song=one hit record=one chance to make the cash. but on the other hand, kids always want something new, so i guess thats how it works. a pop song is released, played until the cd melts, and thrown away for the next hit tune. that is so sad. fight the power. dont listen to the radio. Kent
I cant really get into music where no one in the group/band actually plays any sort of instrument. That means techno and rap. But i think its only fair to mention that if there is a really sweet tech. rythme, i have been known to enjoy it. Although rap, thats a totally different thing. especially since so much of it is based around the demoralization of women. And is it really that hard to write down a bunch of ryhmes and then memorize them. That would be why only free flowing, straight off the top of the head, make it up as you go along rappers, get a hint of credit from me. One catch though, its got to flow with the beat properly. I also dispise anything where the artist is there simply because of how they look... hence, pop. god i hate briteny and nsync.
Omar Harris
I hate one-hit wonders for the simple fact that it screws my chance, or anyone elses for that matter, of ever hearing what some of the better musicians are capable of. Everyones probably heard Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy" but who can name at least one other song they sing? An evven harder question: Who can name at least one other song they had on the radio? See what I mean. I tend to listen to music between the 80's and mid-90's, the era before Boy Bands and the Cash Money Millionaires. If an artist is going to make music, make something that has some sort of message or has a point to it. Look at Fabulous' "Trade it all". It's a song about a guy who would give up everything for his woman, but then you turn on MTV or BET and the video is nothing but the same video concept we've seen a million times before: Rappers in all their "fly" clothes being surrounded by skimply-clad women. I don't mind the women, but use them for a more raunchy concept instead of something that is supposed to have a meaning to it.
Foredaddy
I hate the singles that cool artists put out so everyone gets back into them. Eminem is a big player in this category. Ya know what Im talkin bout willis? For example: The Real SLim Shady, Without Me. Dont get me wrong Slim is the shiz, but I just don't like those first singles of his tracks. They get old so fast. Even if they don't get old fast, so many people like the song it turns me off from it. yeah.....

conpiracymonki
I don't like anything that's loud or 'sex-only song' type thing, so I'm not really into late rap and hip hop, heavy metal etc. Metal can be OK, and I listened to a lil J-music, and it was pretty fine. I've gotten off garage, and I'm now into the life-message Tupac tunes. You can actually listen to the lyrics and understand what he's saying while the beats going. (An example would be Breathin') Anyway, no heavy metal, pop (I get bored of the same message repeated), garage, late rap, hiphop and so on..
amibasuki
prolly the music I can't stand the most is modern country. especially Trisha Yearwood, for some oddball reason. I like some bluegrass though :cross:. but I REALLY hate how country singers do remakes of other songs, ooooh that annoys me to no end. like how I think it was Dolly Parton that redid Collective Soul's Shine. I could've died. there's prolly a buttload more too, I can think of at least 3 other songs at the top of my head that've been redone. funny thing is all the originals sound better than the newer versions, so I dunno why they bother, since their reps are just getting smashed. but off the subject of country. I don't like a lot of pop anymore, though there are some exceptions. I don't like hip-hop and rap either, but only because of the lyrics. if the words weren't all about drugs/girls/money/etc., I'd listen to it all the time. can't really think of any other genres I don't particularly like, just individual bands and such. but this oughtta do it.
Manic Webb
Truth about me is that you can play anything around me and I won't care. I don't even like the Backstreet Boys, but if you locked me in a room and only played one of their songs twice, I'd walk out singing the chorus as if I'm their biggest fan. Then I'll turn the song around into a Weird Al-esque parody  The only thing I don't listen to is Country, based mostly on how the music itself sounds. A few popular country singers are ok by me (like LeAnn Rimes and Shania Twain) but that's about it. Other than that, I don't like repeated lyrics/themes in certains genres. Some pop songs tend to talk about "I want to be with you" and "I love to be with you" and it gets on my nerves. I didn't have any respect for N Sync until they released the first "break-up" pop song I've ever heard, "Bye Bye Bye." I like some of these new intrumental pop acts like Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton (centering a song around a piano. Brilliant!) I listen to rap all the time, but it's gotten to the point where I don't even pay attention to the lyrics anymore, unless they mean something. It's all about the beat with me, now. I like a lot of bass, which rap (and some forms of rock) have in abundance. (One popular rap song I suggest anyone listen to is "Tainted" by Slum Village. It actually has a message, and the music video doesn't ruin the song) As for now, I'll just stick with R&B and Neo-Soul. There's nothing like a good Jill Scott or Lucy Pearl song... :)

Justin
I don't hate any kind of music. I think everyone should be able to appreciate all types of music, whether they like it or not. That's just me, though. -Justin
Bunni_Chan
I love all music except rap. Rap, in my opinion, is just garbage in the kinds of morals it promotes and the things it talks about. I think music is food for the soul and rap is like junk food, it sings about things liek violence, drugs, sex and its just not a very pleasant and soul moving type of music. Pop is probably not one of my favorite types, but I can tolerate it and some of it isn't that bad. I remember how ignorant I was in grade school, standing up for N'Sync and dissing classical *sighs at my own ignorance*. My favorites are any type of rock, from alternative to heavy metal, and country music, yes I love country, country rocks, bite me. Ohh yes and one more, I don't like Irish music, or anything to do with Irish music, such as Irish dance or Irish anything. That guy from lord of the dance, well thats just creepy, his legs flail about as though indipendant from his body, *thinks about it and trembles* O.o .ooh look a quarter... Red
If I was to talk about a music genre I didn't like, it would be Garage, which is just getting a tad bit on the non-musical side over here. RicoTranzrig
I'm not really biased against any genres...if someone releases something good...then I'll like it. Well, something that I can't stand is that experimental stuff where it's just mostly blips and beeps, from a computer, orgainzed into a conceivable rhythm IE: Kid 606. I think it's just that type of music that I get tired of quick.
