It's not favorite threads in and of themselves that are against the rules, anymore, it's the spam that most of them generate. If people actually give reasons for liking a particular one best, then it's okay. It's when a bunch of people reply with just "I like this one best" and leave it at that, that the threads get closed/deleted.

Raising Chocobos in FFVII was by far the most challenging and rewarding Mini-game in an FF game to date. Although it was fustrating at times, combined with the Chocobo racing game and the numerous advantages of owning the all-hallowed golden chocobo really made up for that.

I don't think it was the most enjoyable mini-game, though.

That title would go to Triple Triad from FFVIII. That was really good. Collecting all the cards was challenging, and the game itself was fun and strategic. Plus the way the cards could be modified into items really paved way for my ingenious scheme involving getting the Punishment gunblade before going to the Fire cavern. Heh heh.

FFIX's game was... Kinda confusing. I didn't like it as much as the previous Mini-games. When I did play it, which wasn't often, I only ever won on luck.

As for Blitzball, I haven't played it. From what I hear, it's fun though. It's hard to compare it with Chocobo breeding and Card games, though.

And don't forget, FFVII had many more than just one Mini-game. Speed Square, snowboarding, the submarine mission, escape from Midgar, Fort Condor to name a few.

FFVII is the winner for mini-games, hands down.

I agree. FFVII's mini-games were my all-time favourites.

I absolutely hate Blitzball. The concept was great...but unfortunately the execution was utterly horrible. The movement is very static, the turn-based nature of the game removes any excitement that the sport could (and should) have had...and the game is severely limited in scope.

Had it been a real-time, action-based game...that would have been much more fun. As it stands, it's nothing but a boring chore to be waded though.

I agree with James, I just don't seem to be able to like Blitzball even after many of my friends in the US are raving about it

I rather enjoyed the FF VII mini-games though, I'm still addicted to the motorbike game, can't get enough of slashing Shinra guards and watching as they crash in front of another bike

Well, I haven't played FFVIII or X, so I wouldn't know about their mini-games, and didn't think Chocobo breeding was very fun. (it was more of a side-quest than a mini-game) So I chose Tetra Master in FFIX, though it was confusing. I also liked the the mini-games in FFVII, especially the submarine one. (nothing like firing a barage of torpedoes at an enemy sub)

Heh heh heh, the motorbike bit--loved that. Try playing it on your PC with the speed at its max...yowza!!!

FF7 definitely leads in the mini-game department--raising Chocos was my fab, with FF9's Chocograph in a close second.
As far as Triad, Tetra, and Blitz, those games were irritating enough for me to almost throw my system and all out my bedroom window. I actually had to get my bro to help me during the Treno tournament, because the game won't go on until you beat it. Blehh. Wakka just won't get his Legendary Weapon on my version--but you know what I say? Tough.

I dunno if I ever considered Chocobo raising a mini game, but I liked trying to get new chocobo types. The fact that there was an actual reason to get the gold chocobo (new summons, travel anywhere, etc.) instead of you simply just getting the chocobo for show was nice.

The Golden Saucer games were cool for the most part, other than the strange moogle mating arcade machine...

FF8 and 9 both had lacluster games in my opinion. I hated the card game in FF8, but at least it was never really forced on you. The FF9 card game was leagues better, but I still didn't find it fun. I also didn't really like that the game made you play it in that one tournament.

FFX takes the cake for worst minigame though. I can't say I totally understand Blitzball, but making something like that turn based makes no sense. It is the most monotonous and downright boring thing in a FF game ever. It basically just comes off as turn based dodgeball.

FFVII did kick *** with it's mini-games and the card game in FFIX was even cool. But after playing blitzball in FFX it truly made me sad that that's what the creators thought would be considered a good mini-game that most people would enjoy. If they were going to try to add a sport element they should've partnered with a company that makes sport games at least for that part of FFX.

I actually thought Blitzball was the best. At first i didnt like it much but when i got tired of fighting i started playing and after awhile i got really into it, its actually a fun game. Those who didnt enjoy it u should try playing it again.
