Genkai
wellm recently there's been a thread about playing instruments and one about dancing, so... anyone here in a chorus?? i love to sing...it's so good..... i'm in the school chorus that you don't have to try out for, cause auditions are not my forte...the teacher said i should try out...no.... anyway, im a tenor/bass, which is weird cause i have sort of a high voice(goddam puberty taking a helluva lot of time changing my voice..), but that means when my voice changes i'll be like, LOW....... anyway, singing in chorus is the bom-digi, all my friends do it, so do some of the other popular kids..... everyone in it is smart, and it's rare to find someone not on honor roll in chorus... i dunno why.. Manic Webb
I signed up for my school's choir, but they never gave it to me. I knew a lot of people in it, too. I was in one of my school's musicals last year. We did "Little Shop of Horrors" which none of my friends went to go see... :flaming: Anyway, everyone in the musical except for me was in Choir. Strangely enough, I was the only person in the show who couldn't sing. I got to know the Choir teacher and I knew just about everything about the class. I even learned how to read music. I never got to join that class, though. Shame, 'cause I discovered I'm a pretty good bass and I know how to harmonize in a choir. Can't sing solo, though. Nope. No freaking way... MathGuy2
I'm in my church's youth choir. Conversation from my language arts class: (somehow we got to talking about people who sing) Teacher: Does anyone here like to sing? Me: [somewhat raises hand] Teacher: Do you sing? [to class] Does he like to sing? Classmate: Yes, in the halls. :-)
Juu
I'm not too good at it... but I enjoy writing songs just as I enjoy singing them. ^_^ I'm not exactly in choir, but I used to be in a small group in our school, (7th grade) where we would sing other songs, by other artists. I ended up with michelle branch and shakira... @_@ Weird combo..yes.. but It was really fun! We even got to use the drama club's props for it.^^
liamc2
I'm in the school choir and male choir (whoa, deja vu)and we were planning on going to japan next year, but beacause the school wouldn't support it much, (HA! So much for, 'we support our cultural school activities') and yet they continue to send the schools rugby team all the way to England for a two week tour DAMMIT! *cough* Yes singing is good. Sara
I don't get along very well with most of the members of the music groups, and I didn't get along well with the former director. But, gosh...I do love music.
Jesus Chicken
I sing, but in a band with some freinds of mine. I used to be in a choir in our town, but I got sick of it... hehehe, Liam, did you hear about that? Anyway, I go busking occasionaly and I don't get that many complaints and generally make a bit of money, so I can't be that bad.

PiroMunkie
If by singing you mean screaming lyrics to your favorite songs then yes, yes I do, lol. Though I doubt that is what you meant.:p Actually, I can sing fairly well. I don't do choir or anything like that, simply because I find no need to and I don't like to sing those kind of songs. I am in the occasional musical, like right now I'm in my friend's school's production of the musical Clue (she goes to an all girls school, and they needed guys). I've probably mentioned this before though. I was cast as Professor Plum. :p He has this great scene with the Detective where they hit on each other like none other... well actually Plum seduces her but it's all the same. If she didn't want him, she wouldn't have taken the bait, lol. But there is a sad ending to that short-lived relationship, which about made me cry when I read it. Cause I really like that scene, it just seems so fun especially cause they go into a duet. I tend to get really into my character in relating to him, so I take things that happen to him in the play kind of personally, lol. I really like the song they do. The music director took one of my lines out and gave it to the Detective though. I talked to her about that, cause I was curious as to why, and she said that before they auditioned any of the guys, they weren't sure if they would get a person to play Plum who could sing. So it was the original plan to give most of the lines to the Detective. Though she said that I am doing a lot better than they expected, so they will just play it by ear and see what happens. In practice today, we went over the main songs, and at one point in a song where I am singing a short bit by myself I totally hit all the wrong notes except for the last one, lol. That was almost odd being that the last note was the highest, but it was really funny. After I messed up the first two notes I pretty much gave up and purposely sang off tune trying to get back on. The music director got a big laugh with that, as did everyone else. She said something to the effect of, "Nicely done! If you are going to screw something up you might as well do it loud and proud!" Which I did, lol. But yeah.. fun times. :p
Sere Tuscumbia
Singing. Love it. Hate the kids and my choir teacher, but I love to sing. Except we're a dinky little Tulsan choir, so we never go anywhere . . . >>;; 1st Soprano here . . . and in case you don't know, 1st Soprano is the highest part. I proud myself on being able to belt out those High A's . . . solos? Nope. Obviously I'm not the "golden child" of the choir, so solos pass me by. Last year the best thing was a duet, and I was harmony. Joy to the world. Well, ok, I did get to sing the part solo for the contest, and won an award for it but still . . . And musical? Uh uh, no way. Get me up on a stage, or in front of a camera, and I stand like a deer caught in headlights. Not fun. Still working on that though . . . ^^;; And of course, there's always the wailing to Michelle Branch and other artists (right now, it's the New Wave music . . . don't ask.) ~!*Sere & Co.*!~

RicoTranzrig
Really sorry, Endymion... Yes...I sing when no one's around, though. My vocal range is fairly large and I joined choir about 7 years ago, I jumped from a Soprano (12 years old, mind you), to a Tenor, then to an Alto. But I don't sing in front of people much, even though this one person I sang my heart out to said I should.

But I don't sing in front of people much, even though this one person I sang my heart out to said I should.
that reminds me of something, DAMN CHEATING GRAMMAR! lol, let me bring you up to speed. Toowoomba has an annual secondary school eisteddford (key word secondary) where a bunch of schools get together, mostly private schools, and sing against each other for first, second etc. Any how the two main choirs were Grammar and ours, Downlands college. Anyhow, we sing, get applause wolf whistles whateva, then grammar goes on, and has the complete SATB range. (shudder) It turns out they used junior school students (the youngest looked ten, secondary school starts at twelve) and went onto win, in the judges words 'Because of the beautiful harmony' Ahem. Also they had a tap dancer. A bloody tapdancer. 'Although no marks are meant to be given for choreography, I strongly believe that Grammar should receive extra points for their magnificent tap dancer.' Surprise surprise, Grammar wins and we come fourth and last. Interesting thing was though, Our male choir was from a heterosexual school, and a Catholic school to boot. The other male choirs? Single sex, prodestant. Ahem. The judges background? Single sex prodestant school. lol, sad isn't it? Especially when the other schools came up and asked us how the **** we came last when the others sounded so bad. Ahem. --- lol:drunk:
Jesus Chicken
Hey, Liam c'mon what's the point of going to a school like Grammer and not bribing the judges in a way only they are capable of. They have open showers... (sorry if anyone gets angry) Yeah anyway, I have seen them compete in the past and they always have the full range. A tap dancer's new to me, but I won't be suprised if they have about 20 next time they perform. If I were you, I would take a gun.
liamc2
lol, an interesting proposition JC, unfortunately shooting twenty people would disrupt the course of the eisteddford, and we don't want the judges all upset because one of the competing choirs strolled on in and blew grammar away now do we? ;)
Jesus Chicken
I think they would probably find it a pleasant suprise from the same old thing. I also think, that although no marks are given for blowing away Grammer, I think many marks would be awarded for blowing away Grammer.
Darkness
I love to sing and write songs. The bad thing is that I don't have time for it like I want to because of college. When you get into your hardcore senior business courses, it eats up alot time. Heck, I really can't read for pleasure anymore! But yeah, I got range, and I plan on making a demo as soon as I get time. Hopefully one day you all will see me on television, and I'll give a shout out to Otakuboards! Kei
I used to be in the Kiddy Kat Choir (following the theme of our school's mascot) when I was in 4th and 5th grade. I was a Soprano. I still like to sing now, and I may occasionally sing some of my favorite songs off the radio, but I don't like it as much as I used to.
Dan L
I lead the worship at the youth group at our church- So I sing, but I also play the keyboard at the same time. It can take a lot of time to get used to doing both at once and learning when to play simply and when to play well. I have a fairly high singing voice- I don't know why that is, because I'm 19, so my voice broke a while ago. Apparently, soome of the songs we do are a bit too high for the girls in our worship group. I won't call it a worship band, because we only have a keyboardist (me), and a drummer... a drummer with a drum, on the music side. However, we do also have 3 singers (not including me).. which is odd..
Genkai
yeah, a lot of people sing really well in private....but not so well in front of people.. i used to be like that, but now i sing myself silly in front of people, so..
Juu
^_^ I'm much better at singing at home.... in private. When I go to korean/japanese karaoke with my family, I'm usually kinda shaky-ish when I sing. By the time I'm finished, my cheeks get red.. @_@ When my two clostest friends come over, we go to korean karaoke, (it has rooms for about... just enough for you and your family.) and we all sing songs, (in english). That's when we can sing the best, and especially have fun. ^_^ I usually sing shakira, michelle branch, avril lav.. somthing, christina aguilera... etc. My friends usually sing to No doubt, or one of them can sing to f'nkl ot ses... @_@ and btw... isn't grammer spelled grammar? ^_-
