I like Santana. He knows how to tear up one mean guitar.
Some time ago, I saw an old rerun of Saturday Night Live (like in the 1970s) where he was the musical guest. He's always been good! Sometimes I wish I had been around in the 60s so I could have seen him at Woodstock.

His new song with Michelle Branch, "Game of Love" from his new album "Shaman" is great! After being slowly forgotten over the course of 30 years, he really knew how to bounce back into the mainstream with some popular singers for "Supernatural." (I think he even tied with Lauryn Hill for the "Won Way Too Many Grammies In One Night Award.") I know I've just got to get "Shaman."

Santana was, WAS, a guitar god.

now hes just another burnout from the 70's making a comeback.

I wish he would have just went on tour and promoted his old stuff and the prime new stuff in a, 70% old stuff, 30% new stuff mix.

That way, he would have the respect of millions of burn outs who were fans way before his recent crap.

But unfortunately to us, he didnt do that, rather, he took a border line sell out position and tried to get back into the main stream.

Oh well. Hes still good, just not a god.

All I can say is that Carlos Santana is the greatest guitarist ever.

My girlfriend won two tickets to one of his concerts. It was a few weeks ago. That was my first time seeing him in person. It was so cool, because I was in the fourth or fifth row, so I was really close. It was amazing.

:wigout:You guys make me feel old...and I'm not 40 yet. I've got at least 6 of his lps and have those in cd. I remember when a lot of these songs came out. :toothy: (sorry but my bd on my profile is inaccurate...it's 6/7/64) Got fix that soon. Took the wife to see him in concert at 'Pine Knob', Macy Gray opened for him. it was great.

Unfortunately we got lightheaded from the second hand smoke, contact buzz:drunk: , but we had fun anyway. I think the biggest kick we got, and this included some of the "burn outs" sitting with us or old people, was when a group of teens walked by wearing retro 70 and 60 style clothes. Couldn't help it, we all broke down laughing. Then this gal spoke up, "I used to have an outfit like that." That remark brought tears to our eyes, her's too.

Santana. What can I say. When I was a kid, we all wished we could play like him. Today, with all the practice, I still wish I could play like him. He's been around a long time and has a history. Then again so does Areosmith, The Rolling Stones, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. They've been around a long time and still going strong. Well maybe the Stones have slowed up a bit, now they're old.
