Does knowing too much take away the fun?

Mkay, soo... most people know about the cheat where you get infinite items, duplicating pokemon... etc.

It might be fun the first couple of times, since you always win.

But then again.... once you know the cheats, you really can't play without them. If you're in a situation where you keep losing to a gym leader, or whatever, and you're trying to beat the game without cheating, it's hard. Because you know you can duplicate your pokemon, and *poof*, you move on to the next badge.

I personally think it's better when you play the games without knowing the cheats. And I just thought about that 30 min ago... @_@

I worked soooo hard trying to find cheats when I was... what... 11-9? (that's how I found theotaku ^_-) and began using the cheats... and that sorta became my routine in my blue, yellow, and gold version.
And then I get crystal, and I couldn't find any cheats,... so suddenly, it became a bit more frustating, and hard...

soo... anyone else have a hard time with this? I did for a while, but then I sorta got much more used to beating it without codes...

Although... I never really liked the game shark... I never figured out how to use it... @_@

I wouldn't call the duplicating items/Pokémon glitches cheats... They're glitches, and you're really not meant to be able to do them at all. Personally, I don't find it hard at all to go through the game without using the glitches or a GameShark, because I find it boring to beat (almost) every Pokémon I battle with one hit. I've never used the glitches or a GameShark or anything for getting through the game, and I never will. Me and my friends used the missingno glitch to level up some of our Pokémon to level 100 for battling between us because it was kind of fun to have strong Pokémon that can last a long time in a battle, but that was after I had already beaten Yellow.

I've never used GameShark or cheats on my game except for the MissingNo cheat in Red, but that was only because I was curious. I do think that it would be kinda boring to just use the cheats to get through the game, seeing as how that defeats the purpose of the game. It's supposed to be a challenge to see if you can win, even if you don't have the right Pokémon. I'd never use cheats to get through the game.

To be honest I've never once used a cheat. It's cheating:P. I've never duplicated my pokeballs or master balls. I've never cheated a gymleader match. I barely ever play my old games now and don't know any of the new cheats so it wouldn't matter for me anyways.

I've never found it hard to beat the game (except that first time when I started with squirtal and couldn't beat misty until it evolved and learned bite...). And I'm happy with the way it is.

I've only used a cheat once. Well, I didn't exactally do it, but my friend did. He used his gameshark to get me a 'shiny' celebi. But other than that, I've never used a cheat. BTW, I heard there was a pokemon that was a mix between pikachu and celebi on the game, you just have to do something in order to get it. Thats just a rumor I heard, though.

it really does get quite boring when you cheat and more so when your friends won't play because you have been cheating on any game because it gives you the unfair advanatage, but if cheat was also wrong why would the programmers put in any cheats at all? i mean what rare did for Goldeneye was okay beacuse you had to play the game properly in the first place to unlock the cheats! so in a way cheating is bad but in a way it can be artifically good!

You don't need to. There are button combinations you can press to get them.
Anyway, maybe that's why I got bored with playing Poke'mon.

Cheating is what makes a game boring. I learned that the hard way. Actually, it was probably a combination of using lame tips and already getting through that particular version three times before using the tips that made it less interesting. If there is one strategy I know, I tend to use it over and over, which takes the fun out of it.

Coming from one who never used a GameShark or any cheat on a pokemon game, I find them rather offensive. Especially the glitches... It's like they're sitting there... staring you down... waiting on you to realize you can't do it by yourself, you need help, you're a weakling! But that's what drives me to beat the game -- FULLY without a GameShark, cheat, and/or glitch. Once I finally do beat the game, I'm happy knowing that I didn't have to cheat to win...

Now my cousin on the other hand... he's a spoiled brat and he won't buy a game unless there's a GameShark cheat and/or a Players Guide to lead him through the game. Pathetic he is...

Pikachu will shock you if you neglect it? Huh...I always got along good with Pikachu, so I guess I wouldn't have ever seen that.

But yes, I also like Yellow more because they took out the missingno glitch. Of course, it really pissed me off when I'd battle someone with Red or Blue and they'd come in with a team of all level 100 Pokémon and kick my butt because of it. I never did get either Red or Blue, I just stuck with Yellow until Gold and Silver came out.

Oh yes... just leave him in the box -- fainted for about a week or so of play and he won't be too happy... There's another thing i noticed too... depending on his status, I.e., If he was poisoned, paralyzed, sleep, etc. When you check him, he'll reflect those status changes... Plus sometimes he'll try to act funny... Like in Vermillion City, when you're fishing... and you battle a Magikarp, check Pikachu then... he's playing with the bucket...

I used the Missingno glitch in Red once and all it did was mess up the images of the Pokemon... like in my battle in Fuschia City, Kangaskhan (mine) and Weezing (Koga's) completely switched places on the battlefield, but they had their previous attacks! I was commanding a Weezing to use Comet Punch, LOL. Anyway... I don't use cheats on GameShark at all, because I think cheating on anything is evil. It's best to win at a game when you earn it. However, some cheats that I have come across are interesting... like the GS Ball sequence cheat and the Shiny Pokemon cheat.
