Sara
I'm not a huge fan of School Spirit, but what the heck. Well, this past week has been Homecoming week at my high school. Each day is a special dress-up day, with little events scheduled for the evenings. Pajama Day: The first day of Spirit Week is always PJ Day. Most of the school--students and teachers--shows up in anything from nightgowns to bathrobes to flannels to boxers. o0 'Dress Like a Star' Day: Was our wild card day costume day this year. Appearances were made by Austin Powers, Spongebob, Ringo, Cher, and many others. Crazy Hair/Clash Day: Is probably the scariest day of the week. Anything you can possibly imagine someone doing to their hair, and some of the worst possible outfits on the face of the earth. Hawaiian Day: was today, with people showing up in grass skirts, awful 'hawaiian' shirts, coconut bras, and more flower leis than you can shake a stick at. Spirit Day: is tomorrow. Most of the school will show up in anything and everthing Purple and Yellow. [Clash! Help!] Face paint, hair spray, clothes, shoes, skirts, and other various articles of clothing. The Homecoming football game is tomorrow night, and the coronation/dance is Saturday. Anyway, I was wondering about the rest of you. Do you have school spirit, hate it, plan to go to the dance, intend to show up in all black on Spirit Day....? Do you have/what sorts of dress up days do you have? I don't much care for any of it, but I'm just one person...How about the rest of you?
Semjaza
I loved my first highschool, and everyone always went nuts homecoming week. I wasn't one to dress up like an idiot for the "special" days, but at the end of the week we always had a pep rally which was fun as hell. My school closed down after my Junior year though, and my friends and I mostly split up and went to different places... so needless to say the whole homecoming week at the new school sucked hard. The college I'm at now doesn't do anything like that. There are people wearing clashing clothes, hawaiian shirts and crazy haircuts there every day though... so I guess it's kind of normal. PiroMunkie
This has already passed for us... It was pretty dumb. "Spirit Week" only last three days. I don't even remember what the days were... I think there was "80's Day", "Twin Day", and "Spirit Day". I took part in none, nor did I go to homecoming.
zidane11
My middle school has pep rallys every now and then and at the high school it is homecoming week. They did everything that you mentioned too.
amibasuki
if I remember correctly, at my school this year we have an opposite sex day, when guys get a chance to [try to] fit their butts into their girlfriends' mini-skirts and nylons (and vice versa for the girls, but it's funnier seeing the guys, as you could probably figure), but they won't let us have a pajama day. go figure. still, it should be pretty...interesting, to say the least. I don't plan on participating though.....I'll just watch.....:drunk:
Ninjaman
Homecoming week is like at the end of October for my highschool. But yes, I hate showing school spirit. But then again, it beats wearing the stupid school uniform. Let's see, what day did I actually participate in showing school spirit last year. Hmm, only one. Now that's how I show my school spirit! Guest Anakin Solo
Woah thats weird. All of those are the same days that happened at my school, exluding the bair day, Cera. Woah. S'pretty cool, lol. Yeah, I don't care about homecoming at all. The only fun thing about it all is being able to toilet paper everything around the school. :-D
Manic Webb
Ugh, spirit week and homecoming. I'm glad I graduated. I think I sat next to the loud speaker every year during the mandatory Homecoming Rally. I think my school had about 101 different spirit weeks throughout the school year. The only one I liked was "skit week" where each class puts on a 20 minute skit during lunch. I got to be in the senior skit "Thriller" as a grandfather, a demonic voice, and a dancing zombie. Would they let me be one of the dancing evil clowns? Noo...! "No one can be in both dances" they told me, while (let's call him "Rhoi") got to be in both dances, the evil gypsy tango scene, and got to sing at the end. All they had to say was "you can't dance" and I would've let rest, but did they? Noo....! :babble: *continues to ramble on for hours*
BabyGirl
Good ole' spirit week. As a cheerleader, spirit week was always hell because of all the stuff we had to do around school. I usually wanted to end my life around Wednesday. The football games were always fun because so many people would attend to see not only the coronation but also the very good football team that we've had in the past few years. It was awesome to have a super responsive crowd, because nothing is worse than trying to cheer to a dead crowd -_-. As for the dances, I attended a total of 3 homecoming dances (out of 8) because they were all really stupid. I didn't even go to prom my senior year because it just wasn't any fun at all. I've never been a fan of school dances. I'm just glad that I'm in college now and that I don't have to deal with all of that high school crap anymore. It makes life so much easier ^_^
liamc2
Thank god we don't have Home coming or whatever over here. *laughs* I really don't support that kind of thing, all I could stomach was the Years eight, nine and ten CLD days. Meditating? Pfft. I've seen and done buddhist meditating, and lying on the floor for 50 minutes+ does not meditation make believe you me! Ahem, now I'm rambling, and remembering the fact next year invloves the year 11 retreat...-.- sigh..
Armadillomon
Ha ha ha... Spirit Week... This week is Spirit/Homecoming Week at my school. These were our Spirit Days: Hooded Sweatshirt/Hat Day Hooded sweatshirts are really popular @ my school. However, I chose to wear a hat (since I don't own a "hoodie"). I wore a 2002 US Olympic beret. I looked kind of dumb, but oh well! Work Shirt/Jersey Day This day was cool because it gave us a chance to let other people know where we work. I wore the staff shirt for the summer camp I worked at over the summer. Class Color Day Each class had their own color to wear on this day. I don't know what colors the Freshmen were supposed to wear, but I do know that Sophomores wore blue, Juniors wore red, and Seniors wore black. Hex Day This is where my lack of school spirit starts to show. On Hex Day, everyone was supposed to wear green and gold, the other school's colors. However, I wore green and white (my school's colors). I don't really get into the whole school spirit thing. "Crazy" Green and White Day Since homecoming is tonight, the whole school is supposed to wear green and white. However, I'm wearing green and gold! (Okay, so it's my marching band show shirt, but it still has the other team's colors!) I think that the whole obsession with school spirit just for some stupid sport is a little goofy. I participated in the first 3 days just for the heck of it. The only reason I'm going to the Homecoming game tonight is because the marching band has to be there... Kei
Our Spirit Week is next week here. I can't wait for it to be over! Junior Board (which I'm a part of) has to throw the Homecoming dance, in it's entirety. We have to buy the decorations, put them up, make the tickets, sell the tickets (which I'm stuck doing during my lunch period), set up the picture section in the auditorium (another thing I'm stuck with doing), take it down after 11:00, sell all the refreshments, and take everything else down after the dance is over, and it ends at midnight. I'm going to be so wiped the next morning and I have to go to work. Unfourtunatly, I can't get out of it because it's mandatory. And all that's after the stupid theme days, which stay the same every year: Monday-Hat Day Tuesday-70's Day Wendsday-Twin Day Thursday-Backwards Day Friday- School Colors Day and Pep Rally (which we have to clean up after) I hate Spirit Week.
Mitch
I'm not going to anything except the dance. Gotta nail them chicks ;) (actually I probably won't since I'm really shy, but..:p)
Boba Fett
At my High school spirit week was boring, annoying, and downright stupid, I could go on for hours... Monday- Sports Team Day (We weren't allowed to wear our school sports jerseys :flaming: ) Tuesday- Twin day (I didn't have a twin :bawl: ) Wednesday- Class Color Day (Our class color was white, everything I own is black or grey  ) Thursday- Field Day (Do I really want to hula hoop and sack race? NO!) Friday- School color day and pep rally with a dance after school (I didn't go to the dance, and I hate wearing blue and white...) But at least we didn't have much school
Angelus_Necare
we just finished spirit week today with a pep-rally, a bunch of friends of mine and I thought it funny to be the only people wearing black on school colors (blue and white) day. anyways, Moday was Pyjama day, tues. mismatched clothes and wacky hair day, wed. be your idol/crossdress day, and Thurs. retro day. Justin
Spirit week...hehehe I don't know what our exact line-up this year is; the only ones I'm sure of are Tacky Day, Country Day/Decade Day, and Spirit Day. Anyway, I've already got it broken down for Country Day. I'm gonna wear the skin-tight faded jeans, the old cowboy boots, the Confederate flag T-shirt and, of course, the all-important........ ...... ....... ........ .........white cowboy hat(dun dun dun)...(o_O) -Justin
Darkmoon
I just started High school and we haven't had sprit week yet. In my junior high we did do it once a year though. We did every thing on cera's list except Hawaiian Day. I alway's thought that it was stupid but it was fun. On pajama day people would bring they're stuffed animals and robes. One guy even brought a blanket that draged around everywere (occationally tripping people). The only thing I participated in was hat day... Our school would have these weird races were our tags would take survay's and the class that completed the most won a pizza party, a movie and one time a free computer for our class room. I don't like my school very much. although all my friends go there.
Foredaddy
We did pretty much the exact thing as Nomad Wandering's school does. We had Blue & white as our colors. Plus we had a big pep rally. I was one of the starters and a captain of our Football team so I felt all warm and fuzzy inside when they called my name. WAIT! I mean I felt BAD TO THE MOTHER TRUCKIN BONE!!! Yeah!
Ryan
Our homecoming past awhile back. I think like three weeks ago, yes, three weeks ago. We won, as always. We are always undefeated every single year. It gets kind of old though. You just keep on winning. Oh well, anyway. It was fun.
Genkai
yeah. we're always undefeated too. at everything. our girls' soccer team is no. 1 in the country. coo, huh? not really. homecoming game is tongiht, and the middle school band is s'posed to play with the high school band, but im not going because it totally sucks. i don't care how many people yell at me, no way. anyway, the high school doesn tht spirit week thing. pajama day, spirit day, hollywood day. but a bunch of rebellious people tried to change hollywood day into dress like a pirate day. my heros. school spirit sucks and i hate it. our school's colors are, well, black and white, so my all black outfits fit perfectly, unfortunately. ut that's okay. you can tell im a sarcastic person and that i hate a lot of things/people anyway. but really, im a nice guy. i just like black., and no, im not a goth, though 3 of my friends are. yeah. Ryan
I hate having to play with the high school band. We had to do that the game before homecoming. Good thing a huge storm hit Lubbock and everyones music and even some instruments were flying in the air! Of course it got canceled and rained out. So we never had to play! Thank god!
KittyLynn
Well you might as well do all that stuff, i mean your going to be in the school for 4 or five years so why not make it home????
Ryan
Well I hate band. So that is pretty much the reason why I don't like to perform with the high school band, especially just performing. I am getting out of band after this year. It is horrible, I hate to practice! Ok, that gives you a little insight on how much I hate band.
Sere Tuscumbia
Um. Er. We already had Spirit week, long time ago. God, let's see if I can remember. 1-Oh god. I can only remember I participated. (Um. I think it was . . . dangit.) 2-Cowboy day. I so did NOT participate. 3-College shirt day. I think. Wore my 7th grade team shirt. Yale. 4-Red, white, and blue. I know at least it was one of the five days. Rememberence for September 11th (which was that day) 5-Black-Out Day. Match against Jenks. I wore all white, and recieved weird stares from almost everyone I met in the hallways. Yeah. I have so much school spirit.
