Yu Yu Hakusho

I went throught the past two pages and I didn't find any topics on this subject. So I decided to post it. While the story leaves a bit to be desired, it can be a really good series at time. Even the dub is of decent quality. What do you think about this series?

I really enjoyed the first 5 or 6 episodes of the series, it had a few interesting plot twists that made it very fun to watch. But once it transformed into a standard action anime, I got bored.

Not really a big Fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, basically its another sort of anime thats tries to bring in that DBZ elements. Of course the same studio that made DBZ also did Yu Yu Hakusho. But overall its a decent series just reminds me of yet another dbz clone.

I LOV YYH@!!! hence the name/banner.

i love everything through the saint beasts, but then it kinda goes down, ya know? i still love it, and the manga kicks ***, but it turns sort of DBZ-ish later on. I don't care, i stilll love it....!!!!!

Yu Yu Hakusho's alright. I really enjoyed watching the first 10 or so episodes, but then it turned out to be pretty boring. Like DBZ it has a repetitive plot: villains are causing trouble, beat them up, get yourself beaten up, go home. Another villain reveals himself, get beaten up, beat him up, go home. But aren't alot of shows like that? Of course I've only seen the episodes they've shown on Adult Swim so far, so I don't know if it gets more interesting, but it's alright.

Back in the day, I mean WAY back in the day, I used to think the characters were cute and I knew one day I'd be interested in seeing this show. But then we they brought it on Adult Swim I was pretty much disgusted and I haven't watched it. The only think I like is Botan in her little kimono because she's so cute. I know it's dubbed and edited on Adult Swim and that a bunch of little idiots will be saying "Oh! I love YYH!" when they probably have no idea how the show really is or anything. I HATE that!!!!!!!! I have a friend who told me about the dub he used to watch in the Philippines when he was younger. I think he said that after walking miles home from school in the dark every day, all the kids he knew used to watch a show called "Ghost Fighters." The main character was Eugene (not Yusuke) and Kurama was a girl. I think he said Genkai was a man and Koenma was just called "Junior" or something like that.

I think I started to fall in love with Adult Swim and FUNimation's Yu Yu Hakusho after he told me about that.

I've gotten over the luster of FUNimation making a dub better than someone and now I think the show is ok. I mean, it's good, but it's not the best. One thing I like about it better than DBZ is the fact that Yusuke doesn't take 18 minutes out of a 30 minute episode having a flashback 3 episodes in a row, like Goku does. I swear DBZ should have only been 100 episodes long instead of darn-near 300.

You do know there's a difference between Adult Swim and Toonami, right?
They only edit Full Frontal Nudity in Adult Swim, and the "F" word.

editing like that doesnt matter to asuka.
she dis likes all this stuff(she may still, like it, but less or just dis likes the fans) the second any of us know about it or like it.

I just have to say its awefully rude to say the things she says.

oh by the way.

yu yu hakashu is the best most greatest, most awesome, funniest, most diverse, developed and kick butt anime ever made. yey!

oh wait, that stuff is looked down on by some. but maybe if yu yu wasnt on cn and it was a, buy each ep. for twice what its worth, only through import deal,... then it might be ok to like yu yu again.

or maybe you just have to be the first to know about it to be allowed to appreciate it. who knows... I bet I can guess who will tell me.

Well I have only seen a few american episodes they were just doled out to slow. So I got the japanese subs awhile back it's a good show. It doesn't wear down your nerves dragging a five minute fight out for a month at least. A mixture of dbz and archie comics looking characters really. It has a bit more humor than dbz at least and in that aspect it reminds me more of db.

Just give me the money to actually make a dubbing company and I can show you how horribly dubbed Yu Yu is by Funimation. The translation is way off, but as stated earlier this show really is only going to appeal to those still hooked on the 12 year old series called Dragon Ball its certainly not for the more exprience anime fans.

I'm hooked to more "experienced" series, like Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Dirty Pair (both), Sorcerer Hunters, Saber Marionette J (and J to X), ect...to state a few. That doesn't mean I don't find Yu Yu Hakusho to be a great show.

This is the best dub Funimation has done yet(though still not on par with ADV), and I applaud them for that.

Well, I haven't seen their renditions of Lupin III, Blue Gender, or Fruits Basket yet, but I'm hoping they end up better than Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragonball Z combined. Still, YYH is a lot better than DBZ is. Then again, I haven't seen FUNimation's subtitles yet.

As for ADV, they blow FUNimation out of the water, over the mountains, across the plains, pass the desert, through the forest, and back into the water again. Repeat. :wigout:

And if you start talking bad about me one more time, I'll show you how much I dislike things that are edited.

And Adult Swim may CLAIM to edit out only those things, but I'll believe it when I see it. It's still dubbed with stupid voices that don't even match. And now, I can't believe you people are so quick to judge me. And you don't want to get me angry. And therefore, I'm going to close this thread because it's the same stuff you already talk about in other ones.

No need to close this thread.

Debates about dubbing are absolutely stupid and immature. Some people are going to enjoy dubbed animes and some are not. No point arguing about it.

You can continue to use this thread to discuss the anime in question, but please...keep it civil.

I'd have to say that so far...YYH is good.... I haven't gotten to in depth in it yet but from what I see it's been a basically good anime... The plot so far is different.. and that's what has attached me so I just hope that it doesn't go on to disappoint me!!!

I KNEW I missed an all anime topic!!! WEll, as all of you can see, I absloutely love Yu Yu Hakusho and I have only watched 3 episodes. That goes to show you how good of a show it is. Well, I have been doing a lot of web surfing and I've learned a lot about it....but the only drawback to this place is that I can't use any Yu Yu Hakusho avatar...and plus I don't know how to make banners. Anyone care to help?
Love Ya!!!

PS: I just read over this...I know what you're thinking....*stupid overenthaustic newbie....* I am a little hyper right now, so please forgive me. But I do have some advice for the people that don't like the Funimation version of Yu Yu....GO BUY THE JAPANESE SUBTITLED VERSION!!!!! I have seen a few of the episodes and I'm sure you'll like it. Even though it's all in Japanese (I know a little!!!), you'll proably laugh your head off during the first 10 episodes, at least. It's great. And not to mention totally naughty!!! They have some nudity, a lot of cussing, and a good storyline to go along with it. I'm not totally sure where you can buy them from, but I'm getting them on DVD as soon as it comes out in Japanese(if it isn't out already). Just remember.....your parents may not want you watching the ***. version...it is VERY naughty sometimes!!!
