Dancing in the Rain...

This topic is about just what it says, one of the most awesome experiences of my life. It all starts like this, it's Friday night football game and your team is getting their BUTTS kicked. It's halftime, and you're watching the other band perform from the back of the field where you wait silently on the sidelines. As they march off, you march on. You go through the first song and towards the end, it begins to sprinkle. Then, progressively through the second song, "American Woman", it begans to be a HUGE downpour. The crowd is screaming because they are getting wet and you just keep on dancing. You're scared they're going to make us quit after the second song but we keep going throughout the whole halftime show. By "Amazing Grace", your hair is plastered to you and you are soaked, but you are smiling and it's a real smile and not some cheezy facial expression. You finish the drum break and march off the field, laughing and giggling. When you get in the stands, you start cheering because you just had more fun than you could possibly imagine. And all you did was dance in the rain...

I know there are a few people around here who were there with me, but not dancers, just drummers. ;) But I swear, I had SO much fun. Has anyone else ever had similar experiences?

Well at a game about weeks ago we were playing like you guys but then a huge rush of wind came. People music and even some flutes and tiny instruements were flying in the air. Then a huge down pour comes and there is lightning everywhere. The game is canceled everyone is running around screaming. The game hadn't even started yet. The next day we play and kick their butt. It was really fun because the junior high didn't have to play with the highschool.

Well recently (a couple of days ago) there was a soccer tournament held at our high school. Me and a couple of my friends were chosen to represent our school for this tournament. Right before the Kick-Off though it started to rain a little. The matches were to continue because the rain didn't look that bad. But as soon as our semi-final match started so did the rain. I could bearly even see the ball but we were told to finish the game. Although everybody managed to fall at least once, we were all having fun playing in the rain. Since no one objected playing in the rain we were able finish the entire tournament. Although we lost in the finals and I was pretty sick the next day I have to admit it was actually fun playing in the rain...

Whenever it rained during our football games they always turned out to the best games ever. Nothing beats going crazy for a muddy ball in a big pool of mud being knocked around by big muddy football players. It is definately insane to the membrane. Insane in the BRAIN! man I miss football.

It's been so weird because every Friday so far in our football season it has rained on us at the game, but never during half time. But it sure did Friday. And you know what was really funny? It quit raining for a short time after we marched off the field. It was like it rained just for us. And my Dance Team instructor said that it was probably our best performance ever.

haha, Mr. Geiger said that was probably the cleanest he had ever heard us [the drumline] perform, lol. I dunno why though, that was probably the worst I've ever done at half-time so far. and one of my drum heads broke! I go to look down at my quints while playing We're an American Band, and it flippin' burst! by the time we marched off the field, the hole had tripled in size, and my stick kept getting caught in the hole. but yeah, it was fun playing in the rain, despite the mess. it made my quints look sparkly :toothy:.

WHAAAA??!! O.O Stephanie one of your heads broke?! I didn't know that. Well, I thought for sure that our snares were going to be ruined. When the rain started coming down and piling up on the top head, the tone of the drum changed and I was like aww man please don't bust on me. The worst part was that the rain made the sticks sooooo slippery, I was fighting to keep them in my frickin hands as I was playing. I was afraid one of them would go flying through the air and take someone out in the back of the head. The best part was that the water splashed up from my drum every time I hit it, and it looked really neat, 'cause we were playing all fast and hard and the harder we hit the higher the water went. If I hadn't been so concerned about doing the drum feature, I probably would have enjoyed the experience more. But it's something I'll definitely always remember! ^_^

Last year's homecoming parade, which happens usually two hours before the homecoming game, was one huge, freezing cold downpour. I remember that even my hood was soaked through...and I was very, very wet, since [as a cheerleader] we had to ride on the back of a truck, throwing candy to the few brave souls that came to watch the procession.

This year I guess there was a tornado watch during the time in which the parade was happening, and it luckily expired about a half hour before the game was scheduled to start. I heard that our football team still won, though, and they are currently undefeated and ranked #1 in the state for their region. Makes me proud ::tear::.

Ah yes. I remember that game! ^_^ :D I was in the stands watching all ya'll while getting soaked to the bone cheering you on. You should've seen everyone scatter when the rain began to pour. lol I was getting worried that someone on Color Guard or Drill Team would slip while dancing and break one of their legs or twist their ankles or somethin' awful. I'm just glad nothing like that happened.

once it was just raining and so me and my friends decised to go out the front and dance. . . I remember also it was raining on the way home sometime and I was chanting something about rain with Kim and we were both dancing. The best part was the looks my sister and people in their cars gave us.

Our football team! *Just bursts into laughter* :rotflmao: Well, last year we were first in region and went to state playoffs and this year we haven't won a freaking game YET! And to top that off, we can't have a pep rally until they do! So no pep rallies for my Senior year. :bawl:

I remember when it was raining so hard Friday that I was truly and genuinely happy, and that's a feeling that's hard to come by. I believe that our band truly performed its best, despite the fact that the harder it rained, the louder the people in the stands got because they were yelling and screaming because they were getting wet. (Serves all those little sluts right that only come to football games to try to get a boyfriend or something...) But yeah, see, we all had fun. :D
