Axel--Ignition
This thread is a little (taken lightly) old, but this is the first time I saw it and I just have to put in my two bits... I consider myself a slightly above average Role Player and a slightly better writer. Spelling really helps when you write, obviously, as well as proper grammar. If you need help with this, just say it out loud, how it looks to you. If it doesn't sound right, you should definitely change it. Just spell the word like it sounds. If you think you made a grammar error, just read it out loud, if it doesn't sound right, then change it. It really isn't as hard as people make it look like, I can spell words like mononucleosis without even thinking about it. My biggest problem are peoples' profiles when they sign up. I've used this as an example about 4 times already... Age: 18 ------ Bio: About 11 years ago, ________ was walking out of his college. He suddenly spotted a troop of aliens, the war was beginning... That should be all you need to figure out what I am getting at. I see things like this so many times. Anti pointed out something else a few months ago, backgrounds make a character what he is. You can't have an almighty god-like wizard who was a chivalrous knight for 20 of his 23 years. Another thing I don't like is when you post a giant turn in the events of an RPG. Then somebody comes in and completely disregards your post and keeps on the old events and everybody follows him. That annoys me to no content. I could go on and on, but I have other things to do tonight...
Ben
I would say I'm slightly above average as an RPG person. I don't post often, but I occasionally get inspiration and post some graet stuff. When I'm not inspired, I tend to just move the story along. Unless, of course, I'm the bad guy. Then I post up a storm and fill the rpg with excitement, surprises, and lots of other things. But, my time online in sparing, so my posts are usually rushed. I rarely get long periods to write.
9mm Avenger
Meh...I'm the middle of the roader RPGer...I'm not hella good, and I'm not incrediably bad, either... What I hate is those few random people who infiltrate a god RPG with a flashy sign up, but once thier in there, they post things like: "H4H4! I 4M Ffr4kIng G0d! I bl4st U all!" and so on... James
As much as I am tempted to say that our best days are behind us (Meteo City among others), I think that there are still some great RPGs coming along lately. I always find it hard to judge my own writing in an RPG...because I can never really enjoy my own content, no matter what it is. My hope is that others enjoy it, regardless of how I feel about it. A lot of important stuff has been mentioned here...spelling, correct character portrayal, time/tenses etc etc...those are all key. I think that when you are in a good RPG with a good story...and when you have great RPers with you, it can be an amazing experience. It's amazing in the sense that the creativity tends to grow (the better other people's posts are, the less likely you are to have writers' block I think...as their posts give you a better sense of mood/description). Also, when everyone is really fleshing out their character...and providing great descriptions of the environment...it just comes together so well. I must say, Cera...I'm dissappointed that you don't join more RPGs. I find you to be an excellent RPer -- your contributions in Meteo City v2 were fantastic. I greatly enjoyed reading through your work. And really...there are many great RPers here, whose posts I enjoy reading so much. And I'm always very flattered to be accepted into an RPG with people of that caliber. So, blah...I'm kind of rambling here (not good in a thread about RPGs lol). But I guess...what I would really like, is to one day join a really expansive RPG that includes all of the boards' best RPers. That's a tall order (and I doubt it'll happen in the near future)...but it would be so much fun. :)
Circ
I'm much more of an amateur at RPG. I have this knack for always choosing RPG that die out in less than a week, or never get started at all:( Anyway, I still like to read other's RPG and I can tell something that greatly annoy me is people who don't care for other people's posts. Anything else is not as worse, as players quickly get annoyed which each others... I have srecently started a French HP RPG. I'm seriously not sure how long it will last... I s'pose I'll see

I never felt that anyone was actually reading them. And then I rather disappeared, for want of a working computer. _ _ I'd like to join more RPGs, but it's not fair to the other players [especially in a small group] if I have to drop out in the middle due to computer issues. And lately....well, I've been wanting to join something, but haven't seen anything I could really join. That's why the HV and Meteo City stuff was so great; it was an original plot that didn't require foreknowledge of a series or game. [B]But I guess...what I would really like, is to one day join a really expansive RPG that includes all of the boards' best RPers. Tho' I'd feel awkward, as I rarely play anymore. Still, though...
Raiha
Aw, don't worry Sara....and James. I'm sure we're going to get another good RPG soon from the great Rico....if he ever returns to life. ;) I can smell another Meteo City cooking on the back burner now...

Axel--Ignition
Another thing I don't understand, why is it that all the good, well though out RPG's always go down to the bottom of the lists? I can't figure out how a stupid Zoids tourney could rise above a well made bounty hunter RPG. (Both of these were made by me.) It seriously bothers me how the bad RPG's are always somehow the most popular.
