New to FF series

I'm new to the Final Fantasy games. I played a demo of FF7 when it first came out, but I didn't see what all the hype was about. I had never even played an RPG before, so FF7 wasn't appealing to me. So, I never bought or really ever played FF7.
A couple months ago, I decided to get Chrono Trigger. It was the first real RPG I'd ever played (well, that and Zelda). After I beat it, I started to wonder what some of Square's other games were like.

I went and got FF6 last month. It's fun :)
I never knew Final Fantasy games were this fun. I haven't even finished 6 yet, but I just got FF5, which is a huge step back from CT and FF6, but I like all the mages and jobs.

I wish I'd known how fun RPGs were a couple years back, when FF games came out on Playstation 1 (I don't have 2 yet).

Well, now that you've heard my life story, when was the first time you played a Final Fantasy game?

I remember thinking that it was stupid before I really knew anything about it. Then I played a demo and thought it was ok and then I played another demo of Final Fantasy 8 and thought, wait, where are all the other character? That's when I found out that each game is different. Then I bought FF7 and continued on in order of all the playstation games. After FF10 I started to play the nintendo versions. I've completed every game except for FF1 and FF2. I can't wait for FF11 to come out. I'm really excited about it.

When I was little, I used to watch my brothers play games. I remember watching them play FFI way back on the NES, then FFII (IV) on the SNES, then FFIII (VI) on the SNES when it came out, and then when we got FFVII on the PSX, I decided to give it a try. I was instantly sucked in, and played for well over 100 hours (the timer stopped at 99:59:59 lol), and beat it.

I then played FFII on the SNES, and loved that, too, though my game was erased while I was down in the underworld (old cartridge). Later I got another FFII game, and played through all the way till I got to the moon, and then my game got erased...again. Then I got FFIII, and played through that and did almost everything...until my game got erased, when I was almost ready to go beat it. *sigh* If Square ever remakes FFIV and FFVI on the GBA, I'll get them and then I'll finally be able to beat them, lol.

After that I got FFIX, and I'm almost all the way through it. I got bored of it at about the start of the fourth disc, though, and still haven't beaten it. FFVIII just didn't look that good to me, so I never have picked it up. Now I'm waiting for FFXI to come out. (I'd get FFX, but I don't have a PS2).

My first RPG was Dragon Warrior, which was given away for free one year with a subscription to Nintendo Power. I played FF a couple years later, and rented it a few times.

I never wound up buying it until years later when it was only 10 dollars at Toys R Us. By that time FF2 was already out, which I also wound up getting way later through some trades. The first FF I bought on time was FF3 haha.

I've bought every FF that came to the US so far, with the exception of Mystic Quest which I borrowed from a friend. I've played Anthology and Chronicles... but compared to the carts, the load times are just unbearable. I never bothered to actually buy them.

The FF series never really interested me until one of my friends got a PS. They were one of those my system you can't play type people. Anywho the only game he had was FFVII after watching him play everynight for a around three weeks I began to want to play. I finally convinced him to let me borrow his system about a week later (By offering to buy him another game, jerk) and beat FFVII in three days. It was a little confusing at first the only other rpg I had played to this point was CT and this was a really cool experience with the battle system and the aeons. I tried FFVIII when it came out but it really didn't interest me but once IX rolled around I was hooked again. It seems it's going be hit and miss with me because even though I played X all the way through it just didn't seem that much fun and it was overflowing from to much fmv. Hopefully XI will suck me back in if not there's always XII in another year or so.

When I bought my PSX, I got FFVII with it in the package. Of course, I was so excited I started it without reading the manual booklet, what with the nice looking advert on TV. I got into my first battle, and won without figuring out which button was 'confirm'.
(Button bashing -_-;)

I went upto the Scorpion Boss, and I died, having not read the hints in the booklet. I didn't play it again for an odd 6 months or so. (I survived on Crash Bandicoot, lol)

When my cousin came to visit, he asked to see what FFVII was like, what with all the hype about it. We started it again together, and played it as we read the book. We beat the boss, jumped the train, and had a good laugh at Barret swearing, (I was little, OK?) and saved it. And that's when I got sucked in.

After that, I bought FFVIII, FFIX (and FF4 and CT chipped).
I played them, finished 8, got bored through 9 (and lent my discs out to friends) and started CT. Then I bought FFIV, V, and VI (and CC unoriginal).
Now I've got my PS2, and borrowed FFX off a friend.

Right now, I'm playing FFVI, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, FFX at the same time...

Well, back in 5th grade, my friend Alex told me to buy Earthbound since he got drawn into the cult following of the game. So I bought it and got tired of the turn based battles b/c I was an action/puzzle/sports junkie...but that was my first experience with a console RPG and the story interested me very much.

So I looked in my '94 issue of Gamepro since I saw a 4 part strategy guide for a game like it, which happened to be FFIII(US). So I rented it and played through religously...it had an even better storyline than Earthbound, everything about it was way more serious. Then Chrono Trigger/Super Mario RPG in '96...you know how those games are...and so I said to myself "Wherever Square goes, I go..." Then I bought my PSX just for VII at the time, and that tingling sensation in the back of my spine started when I saw the first FMV...

i first got into the rpg expierence back in 6th grade. my friend had a psx. he played ff7 religously. i would sit in his room and watch for hours on end. he would never let me play because i would end up erasing his game or something. so like 4 months later i got a psx for christmas. i went over and borrowed it from him. i had soooo much fun. i was hooked. i beat it in like 7 days. but i had a save so i could just rip it up. i also played till 99:59:59. after like 3 months of beating it i herd 8 was out. i freaked! i went to the storre the day it came out cause i had a reservation and picked it up for 55 dollars. i couldent beat it. i got so frustrated i broke the disk 3 in about 4 pieces. then i cried cause my parents wouldent buy me another one. so i saved up and bought the next one for like 20 bucks. and i bought a guide. i beat it in like 7 weeks or so. then nine was out but i dident like it too much. i found it short. then i got into the parasite eve 1 and 2. now i wana get a ps2 for the ff10 & 11 but i got an xbox and theres no rpgs for it.

Well, my first RPG was Final Fantasy VIII. I thought everyone would love it, but alas, I'm alone (If ya ever pick it up, PM me and I'll link you to my walkthrough...it'll helps lots).

Since then I've played FF7, FF9, Legend of Dragoon, Granstream Saga, Dragon Warrior 7, FFTactics, Chrono Cross, FFChronicles, SaGa Frontier 2 and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I also am short a PS2, which really ****ed me off when FF10 came out. I will play that game at some point though!

Why are you waiting for FFXI to come out if you don't have a ps2? Sure it's a online game but it requires a ps2 to play it.

Yep, it's also coming out on the PC, in addition to the PS2. I figure if I can't afford to upgrade my PC with the money I'll get from Christmas and my birthday (about two weeks after Christmas), I'll just buy a PS2 (and the necessary accessories) with the money. So, either way, FFXI will be mine, heh. :)

Heh, I was actually, well erm... little when I first played the Final Fantasies. I dont know why FFVII appealed to me so much, maybe it was the price as it was Christmas back then. £44.99 :D And as my dad bought it for me I couldnt play alot of it as I had to have Christmas Dinner, then I just took up the TV for about a year and a half, and then got hooked on it. Then I started playing the classics, then eight etc etc, and I found myself with everyone, except for Mystic Quest. (I had a ROM for it, and died in boredom) But yes that is how I and many others got into it. You'll just love it.
