Transtic Nerve
Well he doesn't... exactly turn good... Mor elike... splits into two and one becomes good while the other destroys the earth.... hardly constituting being good... although that does have a nice sound to it....
I'm sorry, but he doesn't seem too original to me. Furiza, Cell and Buu are all strikingly similar in concept. In each of these sagas they are revered as the most powerful warrior ever. Whenever someone begins to rival them, they change form and become stronger. Like Cell, he could absorb people (only to a greater extent) and regenerate. Buu was original in that he was the only villain to have a good side though and the inner struggle and foreshadowing are interesting. So, I'll agree that he was original to that extent. At least he destroyed the world too, lol.

Seto88
to tell you the honest truth, i think that buu is the stupidest idea for a villan. I mean, freaza was a classic. he was SO cool. But with buu, you can just tell that akira toryama ran out of ideas:confused:

Buu is unlike Cell or Furiiza... Furiiza was short and tiny. Probably the first ORIGINAL looking villian in DBZ. Then Cell was just a combination of them all, that probably lacked the most in thought process. Buu is the second original villian. He doesn't look like anyone, he looks different than the others (being fat and pink I mean). he's got a childish attitude with highly destructive power, this gives him a more "what will he do next!?" kind of feel. You always see children doing weird stupid things, well imagine them with the power to destroy earth. Exactly. He becomes more fearsome now, despite his attitude and appearance. He had a master or a controller, something the others haven't. And he's funny. Cell and Furiiza were very serious types of villians, with buu you get a comedy aspect to his serious nature or destruction. He turns people into chocolate and gun balls for god's sake. And then he splits into two, befriends Mr. Satan of all people, and has the ability to absorb people. I'd say he's probably the most unique villian character in DBZ. Plus his backstory within the Kai's is somewhat intriguing as well. Although he does come with aspects the previous villians contained... regenration, hard to kill, ongoing fighting sequences, although the Buu saga contains subplots of fighters, which both the Furiiza and Cell Sagas did not. They were more focused on Gokou (albeit after Gokou died with Cell, such was not the case) while the Buu saga is only focused on Gokou for a short amount of time, the rest focuses on Gotenks, and Gohan, and the Kais. It is always more frightening when there is no motive. When you actually see the magnitude of his power then you'll see this. When I downloaded a clip of 'Kid' Buu performing that one Genocide attack of his, that's when I really noticed how powerful Buu really is. It's really kind of scary if you think about something like that happening in real life.

PiroMunkie
Here's a little bit from an interview in a magazine, interviewing the VA for Majin Buu, Josh Martin. Q: Where or how did you come up with the voice of your character? Josh Martin: (signing Majin Buu cards) They told me cute and evil. So I did Pillsbury Doughboy and Psycho. Kind helps explains why the dub Majin Buu sounds the way he does..

Marron347
i agree with transtic nerve about buu being the most original villian. he is funny and cute at times, but weird and scary at others. he has new and different techniques. even his absorbion technique is quite different than cell's. i admit that freiza was a very original character, but buu is still better because he is alot more powerful and he doesn't sound like an old woman. JCBaggee
I think Frieza only sounded like a woman in the dubs...I believe someone on here said Frieza's original voice sounds more British. --J.C.
GundamGohan
uh... just to bring this out... Buu's technically not the first villain to split into a good half and evil half... anyone remember Piccolo?? When "the Namik" first came to earth he split... one became Kami, the other Piccolo. As for Buu... i like him... he's got the childlike innocence that's often dangerous when overlooked... i mean... look at regular kids who arent properly raised or looked after... they get into no end of trouble (I could also say this about kids whos parents keep too short of a leash as well... the kids rebel just like Buu did) But anyways... there might have been a little more thought going into Buu than maybe thought.... And as for the movies... i tend to think that they dont really count storyline wise... because there's a lot of inconsistancies within the movies and when they're suposed to be taking place.
