Manic Webb
If there is already a thread like this somewhere, I couldn't find it. All of the Fs and roman numerals are confusing :cross: Has anyone actually played Final Fantasy V? It seems like everyone talks about the first FF, FFIV, FFVI, VII, VIII, and X. I rarely hear about FFV. (There goes the Fs and roman numerals again :cross: ) I noticed that FFV only uses a handful of constant characters (so far, anyway. I'm still playing it) and has a system of jobs you have to master. Are there any other FF games that have your characters take on different jobs and appearances? Desbreko
I know Final Fantasy Tactics also uses the job system like Final Fantasy V does, and then Final Fantasy XI (there, no Fs and roman numerals together, lol) uses the job system, though it's not out in the US yet. Other than those, though, I don't think any other Final Fantasy games use the job system.
Flash
Heh, FFII and FFIII used the Job System, If I remember... Well, I know FFIII did. Onionkids and whatnot... Erm, anyway. I liked FFV alot. I'm suprised there's so few many who do as well... It's really cool, and I love the job system.
Semjaza
I think the problem is that it was only availible with Anthology in the US. Otherwise there is the ROM, which is how I played it. Either way, I guess it didn't catch their attention. FF5 was cool mostly for the job system, other than that it really didn't advance past 4 in really any other way. FF3 did use a job system for sure, and I too cannot remember about FF2. FF allowed you to pick different classes though, and later on in the game they could advance. The characters had like older, stronger versions of themselves later in the game.
zidane11
FFXI will use a similar job system too. I've heard quite a few people mention FFV. FFVII and FFIX are my favorites though.
Break
I think that FFV is one of the best Final Fantasies, my favorites are this, FFVII and FFX. I just find the job system really useful and cool. I think people just don't like the old school FF's because they're 2D, but I think that it doesn't matter, as long as there's a story.
Mitch
The job system is innovative, to an extent that is. But certainly it is quite neat. I really like Tactics for the job system. But I've never played 5.
Guest Zeh
All the Final Fantasy's had their ups and downs, the job system was just about the only "up" for FFV though... It was a really neat game, i enjoyed it a lot, but it just didn't keep me as interested as most of the other games.... And then there was that incident at Wal-Mart which deleted everything on my memory card and corrupted it 3/4 of the way through FFV..... but thats another story. SephirothNIN
FFV has a prehistoric version of FFt's job system....er...rather FFt has a much-more advanced...ah I dunno FFt's job system works so well. If I hadn't played FFt first, I bet I would've enjoyed FF5 a lot more. I really did like FFV, but I kept getting annoyed when like....you changed jobs or abilities, and had to completely requip yourself. Or how you'd spend a long time to get to the next job level, only to be rewarded w/ a slightly improved ability, like having black 4 upgraded to black 5. Fooey! I would've rather had a larger cast of characters than a few that change jobs, but it was still a great rpg, much longer than FF4 too.

They want you to do that so you'll have to spend more money with them and get a new memory card... its all about the money! Ahem... don't mind me... just another hopeless Final Fantasy addict... For a SNES, I thought the graphics were quite impressive, not to mention all the Job sprites.

TrickyNicky
I love FFV! It's my favorite. we have four five and six at home, but five is the bestest! I like the story, actually. And the graphics were good for its time. The sprites were really expressive too it was so funny!
