Edge_the_Ninja
mand this pisses me off... ok.. i slapped in the FF9 disc i bought last summer when i was at my uncles, I see i'm at Burmecia, where i left off, and i see Brhane and Beatrix, and fight Beatrix, lose horribly, and then Kuja steps up, in a movie type screen, and all of a sudden it totally freezes..does anyone know what the hell is up with that??? It has happened 4 times and im starting to wonder if its a gliche or somethin.... Any advice???
Desbreko
It's most likely a problem with the game disc. If it has too deep of a scratch, or if it's too dirty, that might be what's causing the game to freeze. If the disc is in good condition, I really don't know what else it could be...
Barra Maral
Oh and just to let you know, losing horribly is supposed to happen. I know that because one time, i used a gameshark with it on that battle, and i couldnt beat her even with unlimited hp. o.O
Kent
all I can say is that I feel for you. dont stop trying though, I had the same problem a long time ago with my ff7 disc. I was 40 hours in and the game froze, I gave up thinking I wouldnt be able to play it anymore. like a year later I actually cleaned the disc and tried again. It worked and I had alot of catching up to do, but atleast I got to play it. good luck and try cleaning it. but be careful about how you do it. try to find a cd cleaner or something, dont just start rubbing on it, that can only make it worse. if you dont have a cd cleaner... make sure you use something really soft to clean it and use strokes across the surface of the disc that go from the center where the hole is to the outer edge. dont try to make circle around the disc or anything. good luck

Then i just pat it dry with paper towel ;). If that fails, i just use my Game Docter.
Semjaza
You risk damaging the CD even more over time doing it that way.
Desbreko
The correct way, if you don't have any special CD cleaner stuff, is to get something like a soft towel, get it slightly damp (not dripping wet, just a bit moist) with a bit of water, and then gently wipe it from the inside edge to the outside edge. Trust me on this, I have a brother that's a computer engineer, and two others that are going for degrees in computer science, the older of which is getting his masters.

Reflection
That happens to me on Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 on the Playstation. The game crashes on the same exact area all the time. I just bought the game about a week ago. Final Fantasy VII is scratched to pieces but it works fine.
Zidargh
Heh, maybe I have some hygeine issues here bu what I do is actually lick the disc. It does not ruin it and the enzymes breakdown all the dirt so it works. But do dry it with a damp towel well 'wetten' it then, and then dry it with a soft linen towel. Works for me and dont give up, do it now before you give up hope in Final Fantasy, and by the way, NEVER and I repeat never wash around as it creates a permanent smudge and you cannot get rid of it. Alcohol has worked before aswell, for the disc of course. It was my parents lol.
Mitch
Ah, this has happend to me as well. Not with Cds but with cartriges. Like when I was playing FF2, and the game just froze and then it also erased my game. That really sucked. Same thing with FF3, froze and erased my saved game. Really pisses you off :cussing:
Guest Zeh
if you're still having problems with it, i highly reccommend you go out and buy a handheld game docter. They're well worth the money, and have never failed me when i needed a cd to be cleaned. Well, they don't actually clean the cd, they re-surface it, which is a million times better. Zidargh
I think he means the prices have doubled in the US and prices are even higher in the UK, even though abbreviations for swearing were not needed in that post seeing as it would be pointless to have swearing present, hmm he's gone a lil off topic Russ. Desbreko
Yes, I think this thread is getting rather off topic. I think Edge has gotten about all the advice he's going to get on what to do about his copy of FFIX, so there's no point in keeping this thread open if it's going to get spammy. Thread Closed So sorry I didn't close this as I saw it V_V - Break
