Asuka: EVERYONE GET BACK INTO CLASS BEFORE I GET *REALLY* ANGRY

Everyone just went about their buisness, doing as they pleased. Ken silently walked up to Asuka, and bowed..

Ken: Miss Teacher, I think it is lunch. Please do not be angry at them.

Juu loox up at the clock and tilts her head in confusion.

"B-but it's only nin-"

"SHH!!" Ken says, waving his hands in the air.

He appears by Juu, and whispers, "Since it's lunch, you get to eat lunch sooner, understand? And the longer we have lunch, the longer we don't have to be in 'school'."

"I HEARD THAT!!!" Asuka exclaims, looking up from her desk.

"oooooooooooooh okies." Juu replies, running in the room to get her lunch.

Ken: Ugh Juu is ditzy.

Ken eyes the clock and the hand slowly moves twards noon, blue sparkles of mana flashing around it breifly as it stops right on 12:04. He silently nods to Neil, who is looking around the corner with two shotguns, and a small headband with an anarchist 'A' on it.

The hand slowly turned to 12:05, and Neil threw a shotgun to Ken, who jumped back twice and opened fire twards Asuka. Neil did the same, both of them yelling "WE WILL NOT BOW TO ANYONE! ANARCHY!".. The dust slowly settled, and two plushie mages were next to the queen, and a light green shield was over her.

Ken: Sh*t. The plan didnt work. Pull back, Units Two Four and Six to Quadrent B.

Several Invisible demons under the command of Ken scampered off to the bed room, which was now a bustling war room. Neil silently reloaded, his hair lifting up as his rage began to control his power.

Ken looked at the queen, who was baffled at what had happened...

Ken: We shall meet again, Miss Asuka. All units, pull back to HQ. This war isnt over yet.

Neil: I can handle her. I'm a ****ing Super Sayian.

Ken: We want to do this without destroying the world, Neil. Opression shall not live much longer!

Neil spit and turned around, resting the shotgun on his shoulder, While Ken oversaw the retreat of the small demons. He grinned at this like it was some kind of game to him, and pulled back as well.

Asuka blinked and it started to sink in...

Asuka: YOU SPOILED LITTLE BRATS! >_< YOU CANT DO THIS TO THE TEACHER! GET BACK HERE! -.-

Sigh. Everyone of these people have issues...

Everyone slowly files back into the classroom, including Neil and Ken. They sit in the very back with their firearms still loaded and straped to their backs. Asuka sighed slightly, looking at them.

Asuka: Now class, we seem to have a few displinary problems. At first I figured it might have had something to do with your home lives or something of the sort, but now I am convinced that it must be something else. Tell me, is there any problems that you have with me being your teacher?

No one makes a move, scared to have to suffer her wrath if they say the wrong thing. She is frowning oh so innocently. Neil and Ken slowly reach for their guns, just in case. Then, VERY bravely, Duo raises her hand.

Asuka: Yes, Duo?

Duo: Well...Miss Asuka...it's just that...the learning environment is so contanimated when you're just screaming and yelling and reading all that monotone boring English stuff....

Duo then ducks down in her desk, sure for her head to be knocked off by some miscellaneous flying object. Instead, Asuka remains very quiet, looking thoughtful.

Asuka: Well then, it's decided. Our first assignment is your RPG essay. You can write it based on any RPG that has been released as a videogame that you particularly like. Research includes playing and beating the entire game. You have 24 hours. Your games you may choose from are: Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, or X; Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, Lunar or Lunar 2. You may choose one of those and no duplicates. First come first serve. Good luck.

She smiles that kind smile once more. Everyone stares at her dumb-founded.

"Yes?"
"ChronoTrigger! No, wait--FFX! No, wait--FF7! No, wait--"
"PICK A FREAKING ONE ALREADY!" Neil screams at the rabbit.
GinGin turns to glare at him, drags MiniNeil into view, and slices his head off. "Just be glad that ain't a voodoo doll," she growls at Neil.
"So, which one did you pick, GinGin?"
"ChronoTrigger, please."
"All righty, Gin Gin has chosen ChronoTrigger. NEXT!"

Ken unsheathed his sword and slashed it twards Asuka, Neil standing up next to him, his hand raised a ball of ki forming in it. Both of them slowly walked twards Asuka, as two squads of Demons slowly escorted her out of the classroom.

Ken: Alright folks. Without any more screaming, we will decide who gets what game. If two people want the same game, they will fight to the death, in an unfair arena full of hazards beside themselfs.

Neil: I'm one of the hazards. Muahaha killing random people.

Ken: Yes. Neil is.. Yea. A hazard.

Asuka: LET ME GO YOU STUPID BEASTS!

Ken: The Door, Neil.

Neil: F*cking right.

Neil ran to the door, and welded it shut with ki. Asuka started pounding on the door, her calmness from earlier fading fast. Duo shook her head silently, wishing that Neil and Ken werent so... ... Themselves.

Duo just wonders off claiming its for her "assignment" which she has no intention on doing, grabbing her camera she starts taking photo's of nothing in particular. As she started to take a photo of the grass near the fenceline (don't ask why!) she realized something, running back inside she grabbed GinGin by the ears and takes her outside.

GinGin: lemme go!! I'll attack you with my flip knife!!
Duo: *sits GinGin down* okay seeing as your a bunny, bunnies dig... you can quietly escape and get help to save us from Flash's weird way's of torture, Asuka and her teaching and lastly Neil and Ken...

A giant bolt of lightning crashes down from the sky, and hits the floor in the middle of the living room. Where it struck lies a small black envelope. This is the challenge. Ken walks over and picks it up... He pulls a piece of paper out of it, and reads the challenge..

Ken: Housemates; Your challenge, if completed, will earn you immunity from the next Vote off...

Neil: Sounds good. What's the deal?

Ken: ...Oh God...

QA runs up behind Ken and snatches the paper from him. Her eyes widen.

Queen Asuka: Ha ha ha! Looks like ol' Flashy has smiled upon me this time! You know those essays you have to write? Well now you really have to write them! Gwahahahahaha!!

Big Brother: It's funny, because you have to do it too.

Queen Asuka: But--

Big Brother: No buts. Pick your RPGs, my friends, and write a decent essay on it.

NeoC: But how big is decent?

Big Brother: That's up to you. Don't worry, I don't expect too much of you--Just a short essay. It's also up to you on what you write it about, about the game that is. And No, I do not mean write a review. This is something else entirely. Good luck.

Ken: Alright. Since i've chosen my assignement, i'm going to go get started. Chrono Cross can be a bit long, if you dont do it right.

Neil: I'll handle the fools, dunno how long we can keep Asuka out though.

Ken: And I dunno if I want to be here when she does get in.

Neil: Aye. See you later bro. I'll handle things here.

Ken nodded once and teleported away from the room, into the entertainment room, and locked the door- Putting in the first disc as he sat down, he quietly eyed the clock- He had 23 hours and 15 minutes to finish this game. Enough time, in his humble opinon.

Meanwhile, Asuka got closer to knocking the door down, as chaos in the classrom continued..

In a society where uncertainity abounds, where our next step could be our last, where we are constantly plagued with "what ifs", we draw comfort from the game that is ChronoTrigger.

"That's an awful odd opening--you play this game religiously or something?" Duo asks GinGin.
"Shut up and keep proof reading," the evil bunny barks, "or no hole for you!"

The most obvious indication of this theme comes from the seven time periods (65MilBC, 12ThouBC, 600AD, 1000AD, 1999AD, 2300AD, and the End of Time, which technically isn't a time period for the fact of the matter that it exists out of the time stream, but that is another essay for another day), and the characters' ability to travel between them, via their ship Epoch, to change the course of history from corrupted and bleak to less corrupted and more livable.

"Wha?"
"What, what?" GinGin asks frantically.
"I don't get it."
"What don't you get?"
"Anything to do with time travel."
GinGin sags on the ground. "Just keep reading."

The reiteration of the uncertainity of the future comes from the fact that 2300AD is the most affected time period at the end of the game (the End of Time is void from this argument, existing out of the time stream, but then, some would argue, would not Gaspar being there show that the End of Time is, in fact, affected? Again, another topic for another time.). During the most commonly received ending with the timeportal goodbye (assuming you did everything proper and right for your heroes according to the game's plan), Robo and Lucca are both sad, not for the parting, but for the fear that Robo may not exist in the future, because, by defeating Lavos, they changed the future. (One may also argue that, if Robo is still in existance, then would that not prove he would be all right? Others hold that, once he stepped through the portal, he would then cease to disappear, if such a thing was to happen.)

"Ow ow OW!" Duo complains.
"WHAT?! I don't have my switchblade anywhere near you!" the evil bunny snaps.
"No, not that (and gosh, do I miss the good, nice, non-violent Ginny), but all this time talk, it's bugging me!"
"Think it's good enough for immunity?"
"What? We get immunity if we have the best?"
"Um..." GinGin looks sly. "No."
"Dangit, gotta get writing bye!" And Duo runs off.
"Great," GinGin mutters.

The multiple endings themselves point out how every day is vital to the time stream. In one such ending, if you lose to Azala and her Black Tyranno during the vital battle in 65MilBC, the ending shows the future filled with lizards instead of mammals. Yet the game contradicts itself and the endings with the presence of the Black Omen hovering over almost all the time periods. Regardless of what path you take, the Black Omen will still appear, and the people of 12ThouBC on will accept it as if it had always been there throughout time. (Though one may argue the Game Over ending "...But the future refused to be changed..." is also indicative of the inevitability found in the time stream.)
The greatest contradiction to ChronoTrigger's essence is not in the game itself, but rather, its sequel ChronoCross.

"Grrr, snarl, hiss, *ka-klick* *ka-klick*."

Though the original SNES ChronoTrigger held few or no hints of dark foreshadowing (the worst was probably the fact that Schala was lost in time), a purchase of the Final Fantasy Chronicles version showed differently. After the aforementioned commonly gained ending, there is an animated cut scene that shows Lucca finding baby Kit with the famous royal pendant. An unlocked scene shows Gaurdia falling a few short years after 1000AD. And despite all the blood, sweat, and tears poured into ChronoTrigger, you come to ChronoCross only to find that, ultimately, the future refused to change.
As long as you approach ChronoTrigger only in its entirity (sp?), you can still appreciate the unadulturated hope and beauty of a brighter future tomorrow for the good things you do today.

"Gag me, how I hate ChronoCross," GinGin mutters, scuffling in the dirt.

Appendex 1: So burn all copies of ChronoCross, revel in the faint hope of ChronoTrigger, and gimme the immunity, 'cause all my characters are at L** with almost all ** stats.

"Good stuff, I'm gonna go turn it in now," GinGin grins.

After turning in her ChronoTrigger essay, GinGin is hiding in a corner of the Queen's classroom.

The Links of the Zelda Series

There are varying opinions about whether the games in the "The Legend of Zelda" series are linked together, or if they are unrelated. Some people are of the opinion that all of the games are in a continuous timeline, while others believe that there is perhaps more than one Link (the main character in every game). I, however, believe that there is only one Link, and that the games are linked together in a timeline.

While the game designers have said that they do not develop the games with connecting them to other games in the series (with a few exceptions), there are, nonetheless, connections between some of them. Some are quite obvious, while others require more digging into the story.

A good example of a connection would be the link between The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and The Legend of Zelda: Link?s Awakening. In the story section of the Link?s Awakening instruction booklet, it says,

"Though you fulfilled the Hyrulian prophecy of the Legendary Hero and destroyed the evil tyrant Ganon, the land of Hyrule enjoyed only a precarious peace. "Who knows what threats may arise from Ganon's ashes?" the restless people murmured as they knitted their brows and shook their heads. Ever vigilant, you decide to journey away from Hyrule on a quest for enlightenment, in search of wisdom that would make you better able to withstand the next threat to your homeland."

This shows that Link?s Awakening is set directly after one of the times that Link defeats Ganon and restores peace to Hyrule. And, there are only three games in the series in which you, playing as Link, do that. Those games are The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Why do I think that Link's Awakening is set after A Link to the Past, and not one of the other two? It?s actually quite simple, really. We know that The Legend of Zelda: Majora?s Mask is set directly after Ocarina of Time; this is one of the few links that the game developers actually put in on purpose. And, we know that it cannot be set after The Legend of Zelda, because there is also another admitted link between it and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. So, that leaves A Link to the Past to be the only plausible option.

So, we see, there are some links like that that you can assume are there just because there is no other option. And there can?t be no link at all, because it clearly says in the instruction booklet story that you set off on a journey after defeating Ganon.

Of course, tying some of the other games into the timeline requires much more of your own theory, such as placing The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons into the timeline. There really isn?t any mention of any of the other games in these two, which complicates matters greatly. All we really know for sure is that they are set during a time when Hyrule is at peace, because Link is in possession of the Triforce at the time, as seen in the opening cinema in the games.

Again, this limits the possibilities of where the games can be placed in the timeline, but not as much as with Link?s Awakening. Basically, the Oracle games could be set in a bunch of different places. It is my theory, however, that they are set last in the timeline, after The Adventure of Link. I have come to this conclusion based off the fact that, when you get game over in The Adventure of Link, is shows a silhouette of Ganon, and says ?Game Over Return of Ganon.? This may not be anything by itself, except for the fact that, if you play through one of the Oracle games and then play the other as a linked game (by using the password that you got at the end of the first game), you have to fight Ganon to stop him from returning to Hyrule. And, if the Oracle games were set after The Adventure of Link, and you died in The Adventure of Link, Link would not be around to defeat Ganon and stop him from returning to Hyrule in the Oracle games, hence the ?Return of Ganon? message on the game over screen in The Adventure of Link.

Now that you?ve seen some evidence to support the games being linked together in a continuous timeline, you can see some evidence against it, to help you get better perspective on the issue. Obviously, it will be a bit biased, since I believe that the games are linked together, but I will try my best to be objective in presenting the other side of the argument.

First off is the issue of the game developers saying that, in most cases, they don?t develop the games with ties to other games in mind. They design the game to be fun, with a fresh storyline. As you have already seen, there are still links between some of the games, but can those really be credible if the developers have said they aren?t intentional? Some people believe that they aren?t. Some go so far as to say that each game is set in a different world, hence the changing landscape of Hyrule in each game. Of course, if the landscape remained the same through every game set in Hyrule, it would get boring, but still. Lakes, deserts, and forests don?t just get up and walk across the map from time to time.

Another problem lies in the story of Ocarina of Time, in which Link is sealed away for seven years so that he can grow old enough to use the Master Sword. With it, he defeats Ganondorf, who turns into Ganon for the very last fight, and then Princess Zelda sends him back in time to his childhood once peace has been restored. But how is it possible to change the past by doing something in the future? This is another problem that could be answered with the response of the game developers just wanting to have an interesting story, and not caring about loose ends such as that. On the other hand, this can really put a wrench in the works for people that try to tie the series together. In fact, it?s about the biggest hitch of them all, and it really just has to be pretty much ignored if Ocarina of Time is to be linked with any of the other games.

I could go on and on about the various evidence for and against the series being linked together, but I?ll stop at two examples for each. While I wouldn?t say that you should base your opinion off of this information alone, I would say that these examples offer some of the best examples of the evidence. I would encourage you to study the story of the games and learn more about the histories behind the games, before you really form on opinion on this matter. After all, there really is quite a lot to support both sides.

When all is said and done, though, it is my opinion that there is more evidence to support the series being linked together. Like I said, about the biggest hitch is the time travel issue in Ocarina of Time, and pretty much anyone can see that the developers just wanted to have an interesting story, and that they didn?t care all that much about loopholes. In the end, though, it is really just a matter of opinion, as to whether they are linked together or not. And, it just happens that my opinion is in favor of them being linked.
