Alpha sat and watched the wall. It was curious, she never liked walls, in fact she couldn't stand them. Tasya was waffleing on about something and it was getting on her nevers. But something began to stire in Alpha's mind. She knew fine well That Tasy (wot she calls her) wouldn't calm down until Summer had ideal protection.

There had to be someone Summer wouldn't really mind watching over her. And plus this place needed some livening up. She sat and thought for a good while and then decided to go and find an old friend. "Won't be long" she said getting up and competely inorging Tasya's mood.

She got out onto the streets and headed down an alley way, dawn would be up soon so she quickly put on her necklace that held half the jewel. She had hidden the other half, since Mangus had been killed (ooc: He ain't around no more so I thought it might explain a few things), and would not revel to anyone where it was. That had also really cheesed off Tasya. She was good at that.

The alleyway was a strictly off limits place, mainly because it led to a secret wepon store or confrence room but Alpha never went as far as that. She knew that there was a bar hidden just half-way down. It was not the knid of bar that everyone visits. But Alpha knew the keeper of this particular bar very well. He was a man of great interlect and suposedly had the ability to drain any normal human without touching them. This was of cause a chat-up line, which she had almost fell for until he attempted to drain her and then discovered who the hell she was. That had been a long time ago and she knew fine well that he would help her out of his pure lust for her. Patectic really.

She walked into the disgusting place and had to stifle her nose at the smell. A few very scantaly dressed Vamp's were dancing to lure the poor sods that had been dragged in here for the sacrifice. The keeper was wearing the usual killing robes and looked ready to kill them off. Alpha despied this and knew exactly how to stop it. She walked over to the bar and said "Hey Coal, aren't a little old to be playing this game". Coal stopped pouring the drink and let the glass go. It smashed quite loudly and the whole proceedings stopped and seemingly disappeared. "H...hello Alpha. W...what can I get you?" he asked in a very scared voice. "Nothing, you can do me a favour" she repiled in a serious voice. "Another favour?" he asked in a equally scared voice. "Hum-um, unless you want the councle to learn of your little..." she tried to think of a word, "..party". "Okay, want do you want" asked Coal. Alpha leaned over and whispered what she wanted done.

ooc: Sere, please read your PM's before you post back a reply. I'll explain what Al's got in mind.

ooc: Soz I didn't post a reply but I'm back at work now, so expect my posts to become kinda inrrecgular again.

IC: Alpha kicked a can along the alley way. Coal would sertainly pay for that. But still she had to put up with what Summer wanted. Her mind filtered back to one of the older Slayers. Tyneomy had been her name and what a desater she had been. She virtually couldn't kill anything and had gone and let the hellmouth open and wasn't even bothered about it. It was lucky that Alpha had knocked some sense into her but she was definatly getting worried. Now there were real problems and she had no clue to what Summer would actually do.

"Well, this is a nice suprise. Ain't it Alpha?" said a voice directly behind her.

OOC: NEWS FLASH On Ananova at work I read that they might finish Buffy off.

Sorry. Been busy and unable to figure out where I'm going with this. Trust me, I'm thinking, but due to the fact that I missed three days of school last week, I'm having to make all of it up and its getting really hectic. I'm afraid that I'm supposed to be doing my work but am not, so I'm unable to be online for long.

Gomen nasai minna.

OOC: Thought I might resurrect it, nothing better to do. Please excuse any mistakes or faults, my mind is still coming up to speed..

Saethi?s eyes darted around, not a ripple was on the water. Well, he couldn?t wait around here forever for impending doom, so he decided to swim towards the side of the gloomy sewer.

Bubbles burst on the water behind him, then something underneath lifted him, flinging him like a rag doll towards the solid brick wall. Saethi gasped as the air was hit out of his lungs, arms flailing wildly for something to hang onto. An ancient rusted ladder was seemingly flung into his outstretched palm as he fell back towards the murky depths, his shoulder cracked in mutiny and stress, but held. Saethi swung for a moment, watching the bubbles slowly vanish. He was safe, for now at least. He glanced around the dark chamber for something of use, his sword and stake claimed by the slime beneath, and then he saw it.

Subtly hidden in the shadowed eaves, was a rusty box that could have only held salvation. A rusty metal box bearing a lightning bolt insignia and the customary ?Danger, 20 000 volts.? Saethi grinned and glanced down at the water, still silent, and then began his way across to it, swinging on overhanging bars. One bar away, Saethi swung upside down and began jimmying one of the fat, lazy cables loose. Violent sparks leapt, sending painful spasms up his arm, Saethi winced and the cable fell, a literal explosion rippled through the water. Saethi shielded his eyes from the burning steam, and brushed the exposed cable. Pain beyond pain burnt his body, and acrid smell seemed to fill his mind...then all was quiet. The box?s fuse had kicked in and cut out the current.

Saethi hung there for a while, mouth tasting like ashes and his eyes and body seemingly more worse for wear. Not bothering to check if the beast was still alive, Saethi began the now arduous climb to the top. He hefted the grate off the opening and flopped onto the wet bitumen, letting the heavy rain flush the sewer from him.

After half an hour, Saethi propped himself up and looked around the suburb, noticing a familiar building,

?Funny to be back here again. S?pose I need a shower anyway...Luke buddy, I?m gonna need another favour...?

Michela grinned from where she was standing in Summer?s direction. Through the use of a cleverly placed spell left by Michela and her somewhat-wicca self, Summer was now dozing on the couch. Oh she was going to be so pissed when she woke up . . . oh well. Michela shrugged. Any plan was better than Summer?s plan.

Michela picked up the black dress Summer had been wearing (she changed into a spare button-up shirt and sweats that she had found in a drawer) and slung it over her arm, before waving a hand around the room. Automatically, all of the stuff she had brought disappeared. Somedays it helped being one of D?Hoffryn?s girls . . .

She tipped an invisible hat to Summer?s prone form, and with a slight pop, Michela disappeared.

-*-*-*-

Summer awoke with the killer headache from hell, as the sound of a door slamming shut awoke her from her dreamless sleep. She groaned softly to herself as she rolled off the couch to the floor to peer around the edge of the couch.

Saethi was standing, a quite brown and crunchy shirt in his hands, looking around the apartment, a frown etched on his face.

Summer could understand why. She thought, for a brief moment, to leave him in peace, but important matters needed to be discussed. She stood. "Saethi."

He turned, defense posture on the ready, but his face softened a little and he relaxed when he saw Summer. Then raised an eyebrow at what she was wearing, and where she was. "What are you doing here, Summer?"

Summer ignored the question, and nodded at the door. "So, no mutated killer Smurf at the doorstep, waiting for me to come outside?"

Saethi opened his mouth to protest her ignoring his question, but then shut his mouth as what Summer had said registered in his brain. "Did I just hear you say ?mutated Smurf?? Just what is going on?"

Summer raised a hand to wave away the question. "We have something to talk about, Saethi."

"Yeah, like why you?re here."

"Maz, and the mutated Smurf and Co."

"And that."

"Among other things, Saethi."

"That too." Saethi flung his shirt away without looking. It landed safely in the laundry basket. "But, for now, let?s postpone that conversation. I have to shower."

Summer wrinkled her nose. "I second that. God, I?m so happy you?re only half vampire. I would not enjoy you smelling like that all of the time. You stink."

Saethi grinned and walked off, and after Summer had settled back down on the couch, resuming the routine of throwing a ball up and catching it, throwing and catching, she could hear the shower running.

She smiled, and threw the ball up again. It ricocheted off the ceiling, and into a different room.

Summer didn?t bother to find it.

Saethi stood under the shower for quite a while in a meditative state. The combination of steam mixing with a waste covered body did not please his sinuses. After what seemed to be an age, he came out and got changed, the foul smell seeming to be but a dream.

Summer raised her head when Saethi came back into the room and headed for the kitchen. She raised an eyebrow at the black Mandarin suit he was wearing.

?Saethi,? she asked, ?I thought you grew out of your gothic stage a long time ago?? She grinned as Saethi ignored her question and pulled a bottle of three month old Fanta from the fridge, slamming the door closed again at the smell of the three month old milk...

Saethi flopped back down on the couch opposite Summer with the bottle and opened it, signalling her to begin the conversation.

?What happened to your mutated self?? She asked.

Saethi paused mid-gulp and lowered the bottle. ?I don?t know. We were going at it for a while, I lost both my weapons to the sewer and was waiting for him to finish me off. I can barely remember what happened next, massive headache and painfulness all over.? Saethi ignored Summer?s sarcastic ?diddums? statement and continued. ?I managed to somehow overload this power box, the cable snaked into the water and roasted it, hit me too in the last millisecond, but the fuse cut the power just in time.?

Summer leant forward to the edge of her seat, ?So, is he dead.?

Saethi glanced at the front door, eyes narrowed. ?I doubt it.?

?What are you looking at??

?Something?s there...?

Saethi stood and crept slowly to the door, he reached for the handle but leapt away at the last second, barely missing being impaled on his own lost blade. Shards of door and sawdust fell to the floor and there was the sound of something very large moving away.

Saethi got to his feet and prised the blade from the door, anger welling up in him. He narrowed his eyes, glaring at the hilt in his shaking fist before pelting it to the other side of the room.

?The beast lurks again.?

Summer stood. ?I?d have to agree with you there...?

Saethi faced Summer, anger still evident. ?Summer? Look, the beast has free rein, it has always had free rein, but now it?s hunting me down. It can obviously smell me out. Now do you understand why I wanted you to stay behind, away from me? Summer! Look at me! Do you not understand??

Summer looked slightly hurt, but she composed herself and glared right back at Saethi.

?Crystal clear.?

Summer walked up to Saethi and looked him straight in the eye, then turned away for a moment. Then turned around again, eyes flaming, and punched Saethi in the jaw. "You?you bastard! You bloody codswanker! You have no idea what I?ve been through! If you think that I?m just going to waltz out of here like this was a walk through the daisies, think again! You?re not the only one in a dangerous situation! You think I chose for it to end up like this?! Do you think I wanted to be stuck in some stranger?s apartment, hiding from three very brassed off bounty hunters?! Just because you have your evil self wandering around some suburb is no reason to push me away like this, Saethi!"

Saethi rolled his jaw around for a bit before speaking. "It was for your safety, Summer. You know that."

Summer picked up the sword, and then went rummaging around for a makeshift sheath. "Safety wasn?t in the job description, Saethi." She peeked her head around a doorframe. "If it were, I?d be living a very different life."

Saethi watched Summer wrap the sash around her waist, the sword already hooked into the belt. Raising an eyebrow, he asked, "Just where do you think you?re going?"

Summer didn?t look at Saethi as she spoke, instead focused her attention on the makeshift belt. "The bounty hunters are about to become the bounty hunted."

Saethi frowned. "Summer--" he started, but Summer cut him off.

Summer opened the now useless door, and stared out into the hallway. "I?m sorry Saethi, but I?ve got to go make the world safe for every woman, child, and dog out there."

"If Mazine has bounty hunters after you, you could die."

Summer stiffened. And when she looked at Saethi, her eyes were cold. "I?m already going to die, Saethi, so what?s it matter?" She closed the door behind her.

And we wouldn?t want that.

ooc: Hello, soz about not appearing for yonks but I've been busy, busy busy.

IC: Alpha lounged at the door, still waiting for Tasya's reactions to kick in. This was not the ideal situation to be in and she would have preferred not to be there. "You still here?" snapped Tasya. Alpha took the point and left.

She wandered around aimlessly, she had no real idea where she was going, she just wanted to be somewhere else. With her old friends, not that she had any. She looked at the locked door that stood directly facing her, it had once been Mangus's room and she had spent many a long day in there, enjoying a few moments of 'peace' but now Maz had quite litually destroyed that world and no one was permitted in that room.

She turned to go only to see a little girl standing in her way. "What are you doing here?" she asked. "You shouldn't wonder about what I'm doing here but rather what you're doing here" said the girl. "What?" asked Alpha looking around trying to work out what the hell was going on. "You know exactly what I'm on about. She's just biding her time, she knows that the old you still lerks deep inside. If I were you, I would get out now. She is going to hurt you in tommorrow and there's nothing you will be able to do about it" said the girl. "Eh?" said Alpha in a very confused voice. "You'll see me again, then you'll know" and with that the girl disappeared.

ooc: hehe if yous don't mind Al's going evil. She ain't going to be a goody goody for much longer.

Saethi sighed. There was no point in locking her up somewhere, she?d always come bouncing back, with that bloody nuance of ?I?m already going to die...?

Saethi took his anger out on the remains of the door, kicking it out into the posh deserted hallway.

?We?ve been through worse I suppose.? He reasoned. ?The times are so messed up now, I can?t tell if I?m in the past or future. Bah. Alright then.? Saethi walked back into the apartment and to the balcony, and leapt off it, belaying himself off balconies below until he landed parachutist style on the bitumen below. He regained himself and sat on the kerb, waiting for Summer to exit.

Summer strode briskly out of the apartment complex, blatantly ignoring Saethi, grinning like a loon while sitting on the kerb. Saethi stood and walked towards her, and noticed something. Saethi leapt and collided into Summer?s middle, sending them both to the ground.

Summer shoved Saethi off and slapped him across the face, not noticing the fact that smoke was rising from where she had been standing. A small red dot slowly made it?s way towards the pair, signalling a laser sight of a long range, high powered rifle. Summer blinked and slapped Saethi across the jaw again, before dragging his slightly dazed self into the nearby alley.

?Ow.? Saethi said. ?That hurt.?

Summer looked at Saethi. ?You deserved it. You should have told me before you leapt on my like some animal.?

Saethi raised and eyebrow. ?That really, really hurt. And not just the slapping bit either.?

She shook her head. ?Whatever. You see what I mean now??
?Vaguely.? Saethi grinned.

?Don?t make me slap you again Saethi. I?m serious.?

?Yessum.?

OOC: After much time (and several mindless hours staring blankly at the computer screen), I've finally finished.

But I wonder, just why in the hell am I posting this?
*~*~~``

Summer sighed, and stretched, loosening stiff joints, and giving herself something to do. She watched the red pinpoint of light meander around, looking for a target once again in the slowly lightening sky.

Saethi watched Summer slip of her sandals curiously. "Again, what are you doing?"

Summer also slipped off the overshirt, to reveal a white t-shirt underneath. Hopefully it didn't rain. Gently laying it, along with the sandals, aside, she said, "I don?t need a bunch of dead weight if I?m going up against this so-called ?Order of Taraka?. It?ll just slow me down. Can?t have that, can we?"

Saethi stared, blinked, then, paling visibly, held out his hands to stop Summer from walking out of the alley. "No. There?s no way you?re going up against the Order of Taraka. Not alone like this."

Summer sighed and looked at Saethi like he was insane. "Saethi, I've already been told about the Order and their purpose, and Maz's contract with them. There's no need to get worried. I can take care of myself."

Saethi smiled. "The last time you said that, you almost got yourself killed."

Summer shrugged, a faint smile playing across her lips, echoing Saethi's. "I have a gift of that. Now then," Summer pulled the belt off, and tested the sword, swinging it a couple of times, then continued, "I'm off to kick some demon butt. You coming with?"

Now it was Saethi's turn to look at Summer like she was insane. "You have got to be kidding me, Summer. You're serious about this, aren't you?"

"Dead serious." Summer made a face, then laughed. "Quite serious. Come on, you get a whack at Mr. Mutation, but I'm not allowed to have a little fun?"

Saethi sighed and shrugged. "If you weren't the Slayer, I'd have half a mind to lock you up for a while."

"If I weren't the Slayer, this wouldn't be happening."

"And God knows I'd have a simpler life," Saethi chuckled.

Summer shot Saethi a 'bite me' look, while handing him a small dagger.

Saethi eyed the dagger, then eyed Summer. "And just where do you hide these things?"

Summer started to walk out of the alley, but stopped and looked at Saethi over her shoulder. "Slayer trade secret. Once this is all over, I'll show you." She stopped for a moment, thinking. "Maybe."

Obviously the sniper had given up, because everything was peaceful when Summer walked fully out of the alley and surveyed the scene.

The suburbs were just waking, small bits of activity that kept Summer knowing that at least the whole world wasn't dead. There were still people to protect, night after night. How unlike the future she had come from.

Summer walked along the sidewalk, uneasy. Things were just too quiet, for the fact that both she and Saethi had been attacked less than fifteen minutes ago.

The first blow came out of nowhere, sending Summer sprawling to the ground, and sliding a couple feet.

"Ooo, that had to hurt," a feminine voice said laughingly, only a couple feet from Summer's side.

Summer groaned softly, but held still, listening. The displacement of air, and Summer reached out, and twisted.

She stood, bloody but otherwise alright, and glared down at the woman getting up from the pavement. "There's a fine line between femme fatale and tacky tramp, and you just vaulted right over that line. Didn't your mum ever tell you that it's wrong to hit someone when they're down?"

"Slayer," the leather-clad woman hissed between her teeth.

"What? No fearsome words about how I'm going to die in agony, or I shall rue the day I crossed your path? Some demon you are."

The woman stood with one hand on her hips. "Mock all you like, Slayer, but I'll be the one laughing while you're bleeding out on the ground." Then, without warning, the woman lashed out at Summer.

"Hey! Now we're getting somewhere," Summer said cheerily, as she blocked the attack, then ensued with one of her own. A flash of light off to her left, and Summer swung the sword around. "Now that just wasn't nice, attacking a girl from behind. But you big brutes are always the stupidest, in my opinion."

She parried another attack from the mist-wraith's spiral sword thingie, then calling out to the newly emerged Saethi, "Oi, Saethi! Incoming!", parried once more, then landed a solid kick to the thing's chest . . . or what looked like a chest, sending it tumbling down and rolling in Saethi's direction. He knew how do deal with it.

Summer flipped backward at the sound of someone rushing her, and when she landed, thrust the sword out in what would have been a killing move. But the sword hit only air. Summer's eyes widened, and before she could make a move, she was once again finding the pavement rushing to meet her.

She hit the ground and rolled sideways, the sword falling from her hands, and hitting a streetlight pole in the process. She'd have some nasty bruises tomorrow.

Heeled black boots walked into her frame of viewing, and then that damned woman bent down and picked up the sword. "Mmmmm," she chuckled, then looked down at Summer, a malicious smile on her face. "In my opinion, the best Slayer is a dead Slayer. And Mazine won't be the only one pleased with this ending."

Summer rolled, but didn't move fast enough to duck the sword. She gasped, then, sword still deeply buried in her shoulder, swept the demon's feet out from under her.

Summer pulled the sword from her left shoulder, and stood quite painfully. "You know what? I was going to let you off with a warning, but now you've got me pissed." She heaved the woman up, then, slamming her against the side of a building, shoved the sword through her chest until the hilt was touching her skin. "Consider yourself lucky. If you had pissed me off further, you would have found yourself with no head." She turned, disgusted, away, and started to walk away.

A low chuckle, staggered with wheezes and coughs, came from behind Summer, and she froze, muttered curses under her breath.

"You should have known that bleeding can't kill me, Slayer." A wet sucking sound, and another wheezing laugh.

"Oh--" Summer started to turn, but was once again too slow. "Hell!"

The sword hit, and raked across Summer's back, from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. Summer's vision went blurry from blood loss, but she shook it off, and dodged another vicious attack.

Looking around, she noticed the lightpole, and ran toward it at full tilt. Reaching out with one hand, she hit the pole and swung around, now facing the tramp that had decided to mess with her.

The demon never saw it coming, and Summer slammed into her, knocking the sword from her hands, and driving her back several feet--

--right into the wooden pole held by another member of the Order. Summer turned away at the gargling sounds the demon woman made, and was glad she hadn't had anything to eat for several hours. After a moment, all went silent, and the demon (now known as a vampire) dusted.

Summer looked over to where the other member of the Order was, and was surprised to find the mutated Smurf standing there, looking quite pleased with herself. Summer gaped for a moment, then managed to pull her jaw from the floor and assume a fighting stance.

The Smurf woman looked up from the pile of dust now starting to swirl in an unfelt breeze, and fixed her eyes on Summer. "At ease, Slayer. I have no intention of killing you, yet."

"You--you just killed a member of your Order!"

"And your friend killed another," the woman said, nodding to Saethi, who was quickly coming toward Summer, looking slightly pissed off, but concerned for Summer's health. The Smurf woman looked down at the pole one last time, then dropped it. "Scylla was--what you humans would call it--a tramp. She will not be missed among the higher ranks of the Order."

"Why keep me alive?" Summer swayed a little, and shook her head, only to close her eyes against the new wave of dizziness that hit her.

The woman smiled, and nonchalantly waved a hand. "It wouldn't have been fair. True, it is my mission to eliminate you at all costs, but I'm sure that the First would want to have much more fun with you. But before it gets a chance at you, I'd like to kill you myself. And how fair would it be to kill you without you standing a fighting chance? Once you're healed, Slayer, you'll know where to find me. Look for an old friend of yours." With a wink, the woman stepped backwards, and disappeared.

A hand on Summer's shoulder, and she turned around.

Saethi looked her over, a frown on his face. "You alright Summer?"

Summer smiled in response. "Peachy. Well, that was fun, wasn't it?" Summer said, then she fainted.

O_O;; Looking over this, I've realized that, even cutting this down, it's still long. *shrugs* Ah well. At least it's done.
