Valen
You should start out making a deck with cards you like and see how it goes from there. I'd say put about 20 or so magic/ trap cards in it and the other 20 basic monsters (level 4 -- 4 stars -- or below so you don't have to do a Tribute Summon to bring a high level one out.), or you can go to Yu-Gi-Oh.com and try to get some ideas from there. If that doesn't work, Pojo may have the yu-gi section up now, so try there. But as far as themes go, i'd go with either a Pyro/Beast/Warrior combo... you know, the Pyro+Beast= Atk 2100, Def 2000 (or so) Flame Cerebrus... that is, with a poly card... Here are a few tips from U.D.E. for deck building... I. Keep the Monster Card to Magic/Trap Card ratio at 1 : 1 The building blocks of your Deck are the Monster Cards. No matter how many powerful Magic or Trap Cards you have, no monsters on the field means you've got nothing to defend your Life Points. A general rule of thumb is that roughly half of your Deck should be made up of monsters. Therefore, if you've got a Deck of 40 cards, around 20 should be Monster Cards. II. Keep The Number of High Level Monsters To A Minimum In order to perform a Tribute Summon (required for a Level 5 or higher monster), you will have to offer monsters as a Tribute. If your Deck is filled with high-level monsters, summoning them to the field will be very costly. Instead, include lots of Level 4 or lower monsters in your Deck and keep the number of high-level monsters to a minimum. III. Make Good Use Of Your Effect Monsters Effect Monsters with Magic or Trap effects play an important strategic role in your Duels. You can create a powerful Deck if you take full advantage of these effects. For example, the "Hane-Hane" card forces your opponent to return one monster from the field to their hand. Using this card at the right moment could leave your opponent's Life Points wide open for an attack from a high-level monster. IV. Include Cards That Increase Opportunities To Draw In a Duel, the basic rule is that you can only draw 1 card during the Draw Phase. Therefore, it is strategically to your advantage to be able to draw more cards than your opponent. For example, cards like "Pot Of Greed" increase your chances of drawing vital cards from your deck. V. How To Create Your Side Deck In between Duels, you are allowed to use a Side Deck of 15 cards to adjust the contents of your Deck. Prepare your Side Deck with cards that help address the weaknesses in your Deck or have the power to neutralize specific cards.
Tendai
Okay..first off, my suggestion would be shave it down *a lot*. I counted 68 cards or so in your deck (though I may have miscounted) and that from what I've found is WAY too many..stay between 40 and 50 or you don't have nearly as good a chance as getting the cards you want. Get rid of more monsters, put in more magics and traps. Equip cars like Power of Teamwork and Power of Magicians are personal favourites. You've got waaaay too many monsters in relation to your magic/traps. It looks like you have way too many low level monsters. Go through them and take out the ones that aren't really doing much. I like to have twice as many low lvl monsters as high, like right now I've got eight with lvl 5+ and sixteen four or under. Strategize and pick for effects, defense etc. Good luck! ssj3gotenks2003
Tendai that all sounds good but the thing is all the cards I listed are all the cards I have. And i'm also strapped for cash so these are what i can get for now. I've changed my deck a bit. I took out some of the weaker monsters. I kept most of the monsters/effects cards. I think i got it down to maybe around 55. I know still alot but I think in the end it should help. I'll look at them again and see if theres any weakness in my deck. I'll post my revised deck and get another opinion.
Hyper
Choose a theme. Cut down on your cards. Adjust the ratio of the cards. Then emphisize your theme and strategy.
