Castlevania : HoD

I agree... best Castlevania there is, if you ignore SotN heh. I'm surprised to say that the graphics are just a step below the PSX game. The sound took a hit, and not only does it sound like a Genesis game musically, the compositions just aren't very good. The Clock Tower in particular has horrible music I think.

I was really impressed though. I never found Circle of the Moon to be that amazing, but HoD really, really won me over.

You better believe that when a new two dimensional Castlevania releases, Crazy White Boy is going to pick it up.

I feel that the background graphics are actually slightly superior to the PSX game, SotN. Some areas feature nice effects, such as rolling clouds and such. It's hard to compare on the small screen, but everything just seemed more vibrant. Oh yeah, and two words: Huge bosses.

The character sprites and animation, however, are definitely not on par with the PSX game. But, for a handheld game, the total package is fantastic.

Like Semjaza said, the background music isn't very good. I feel that it sounds terrible for a Castlevania game. It's not very ambient; even Circle of the Moon featured a better soundtrack. Then again, I think I read that the sound was compressed in order to improve the graphics.

Anyone who's anyone knows that Castlevania games are made or broken with their gameplay though. I've got to say, that in that aspect, it's one of the better Castlevanias. Other than Metriod Fusion or Circle of the Moon, there aren't many original side scrolling GBA titles that will rival this one for quite some time.

You guys are right about the music...makes me wanna puke....
Seriously though, Harmony of Dissonance not only has good graphics, but awesome areas too like "The Heretic's Grave" "Moss Grown Cave"
and "Chapel of the Heretic". They are the best rooms for the castle that Konami has put in since SotN...I mean, Circle of the Moon had 1 cool room I thought, the "Audience Chamber"...but that's it. I think Konami should make a remake of SotN for PS2 and have Alucard look anime-style and make the castle and puzzles totally different...maybe even tweak the storyline here or there...That's my dream game! :D

I find that the graphics are slightly...NES...compared to its counterpart, Circle of the Moon, but the gameplay was good. What I found disgusting about the game was its lack of music from past games. Even Circle of the Moon had Sinking Old Sanctuary(Bloodlines, Castlevania 64, and Dracula X) and Vampire Killer(every Castlevania game ever created aside from HoD and the 64 versions) in its music! That is all.
