Heartless Me

Vortex walked out into the woods to explore and see if he could find anything to use to make some statues. It was one of his hobbies he learned when he was younger. As he rounded a bend in the trees he saw a man with white hair and some cybertronics on his face. Not knowing if the man intended harm he hid in the trees hoping the man didn't have a heat sensor. In case he did he put minature white holes near other trees to make it look like more people were there. When the srtanger jsut looked up and smiled Vortex knew, for some reason, that he meant no harm. Vortex jumped down and continued his search of the woods.

Logan stooped down, smiling at the cubs as they crowded around him. Suddenly, he smelled something familiar, a familiar power.

Logan:*sniff*What the..? It can't be! But I smell an airless void near here.....Aerid? Can it be her?

Aerid's slender form walked in, beckoning Logan to follow her. Suddenly, the Sabretooth cubs growled at her, clawing at her. Sudenly, Logan saw her eyes. They weren't Aerid's color eyes.

Logan:So you're the one that ended Mystique's life! You must be....The Herald. I owe you for what you did to Rogue, to Aerid!

He screamed, his regenerative abilities adapting to the lack of air in his lungs, keeping his blood circulating. Wolverine felt the effects nonetheless, his eyes beginning to haze. The Herald had been confident that Wolverine would die within seconds, but this unexpected ability allowed Wolverine to unsheathe his claws and slash The Herald's shoulder open, making him bellow and lose focus. Wolverine found himself able to breathe and performed his Berserker Rage, slashing The Herald beyond recognition. The Herald regained composure, teleporting away leaving Wolverine with a final message.

The Herald:Her power is my power. Your lover resides in me. I shall return to destroy you, Logan Wolvenis!

As he teleported, he murdered all of the Sabretooth cubs, taking their powers with him. Wolverine bellowed with rage, running back to the X-mansion with tears in his eyes. He stumbled into the lab, where Gravitonne had just finished the Cerebro log. Wolverine sat in the chair, entering his own report, Gravitonne's expression growing more and more sad as he realized how many X-Men had fallen to The Herald in the past, seeing The Herald's blood on Wolverine's jacket and claws.

Logan:Logan's Log, March 13, 2902. A clan of cubs descended from the once-immortal Sabretooth has been added to the casualty list of The Herald. In a battle between myself, the use of the former Aerid's powers left The Herald open to an attack. Before using Aerid's power on me, he showed himself in Aerid's form, revealing that he was the person that destroyed Mystique. Also, after a brutal Berserker, he teleported out and took the lives of the cubs, revealing that he had also taken Nightwalker's power, but not before renewing my feelings of loss about Rogue. May Mother and Son rejoice together in Heaven. End Log.

Gravitonne banged his hands hard upon a desk, bending it harshly. Tears fell from his eyes and from Logan's eyes. They just stood there, vowing vengeance upon The Herald.

Siren was slightly miffed after her brush with Wolverine... She slipped through the trees, making her way towards the entrance... She froze in her tracks when she saw a man with white hair move over to Gravitonne... A long forgotten memory stirred with in her... Another man with white hair, a cruel smile, a flash of green than pain... Immense pain... She fought the urge to slip into the protective darkness of unconciousness... No... This wasen't the man... She groweled as the memory recceded back into her mind... Her revenge would be carried out, for her familly... She hung her head, fighting back rage... She had to carry out her intentions... But she could do nothing with out the X-Men... She grimaced as she realised it was true... She needed their recouces and force of numbers to get her where she coulden't go alone... She sighed and followed the man with white hair to Gravitonne... Her eyes narrowed as she got closer... She hated admitting that she was wrong... She forced her pride down ruthlessly and watched at the white haired man stopped infront of him...

They had stopped to rest for the night in an abandoned theatre. Maria was asleep. Bishop closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. This was a lot to take in. He was used to drastic situations being suddenly thrust in his face, but this was too much. From the information he had squeezed from Maria, he was somewhere around the years 2080 - 2090, she wasn't even sure anymore. Mutantkind were hunted and killed by this "Herald" figure and his followers. Whole teams of X-Men had tried to topple his reign, but each were killed. Nobody even remembered the legends of the past, great men and women like Jean Grey aka Phionex, or Piotr Rasputin, otherwise known as Colossus. The only feeling of relief was the fact that his friends would have been long dead by the time The Herald had shown up.

But there was something else, something small yet somwhat significant, tugging at the back of his mind. Why was he here? He was supposed to be finally heading back to his own time, after using Skrull technology to create a jump in the universe's continuety. But he had ended up in this God forsaken place. It wasn't an accident, he was sure of that. Something had intentionally brought him here. Something or someone. He knew it.

Xaviers mansion ! He had to go there. He could find whatever information he needed in the X-mens case files. Maybe he could find something, anything that would help him. But help him do what? Did he really think he could take on The Herald, after all he had heard about him? A man who had effortlessly disposed of all mutantkind, and had divided up the earth to suit his own ghastly desires ! He shuddered. Not even Apocolypse had accomplished anything on such a scale.

He opened his eyes. He could wait no longer, it was time to go. But what of Maria? She was a mutant, for sure, if she believed it or not. That would make her a target for the Herald. But he could hardly bring her with him, she'd slow him down. He weighed up the possabilities.

He shook her.

Bishop:Mrs. Lee, wake up.

She stirred and opened her eyes. It took her a moment to recognise the face in front of her. She smiled. She would be eternally grateful to this man who had saved her life, and would repay him, however she saw fit.

Bishop:Good, you're awake, now get up, we've got a long journey ahead of us.

Maria:Where are we goin'?

Bishop:Winchester !

Logan stood up, walking into his room to change his clothes. He walked outside, wearing a noticeably different outfit. He stood, wearing black leather armor and a black cloak. He cared nothing of his outfit anymore. He just wanted Rogue back. Or somebody like Rogue. As he opened the mansion doors to walk outside to the Danger Pen, the outdoor equivalent to the Danger Room, he came face-to-face with Siren. He allowed her inside, standing aside and whispering into her ear as she passed.

Logan:I've fallen for you........

Vortex saw a glowing light in a building. He heard a female voice say "Somebody, help...". He ran into the building to find a female tied to a cross with a mutant about to attack her. He launched a white hole at the mutants hand and then jumped in a black hole to re-appear behind the cross. He got 1 of her hands untied when he was hit by a blast from the mutant.
"UUNNGGHH," Vortex said as the wind temorarily got knocked out of him. The female untied her onther hand and jumped off the cross.
"RUN! GO NOW! I'LL HOLD THIS GUY OFF AS LONG AS I CAN!" yelled Vortex.
Paige didn't want to leave but her powers were still disabled. So, instead of using her powers she started to run, but right at the mutant. Right before the unknown mutant shot a blast at her she jumped in the air and kicked him in the head.
"I'm not leaving anytime soon," Paige told Vortex.
"WOULD YOU JUST LEAVE! I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU! I CAN MAKE A DISTRACTION IF YOU'D LISTEN TO ME!" screamed Vortex.
"OK! I"M GOING!" with that yelled from Paige as she ran through the entrance way an booke down the alley.
Vortex didn't know how he was going to do this but then he got an idea. He shot a lot of tiny white holes all around the mutant to blind him then jumped in a black hole down the street but before he got in the black hole a white light shot out and nailed him in the chest and neck. His powers were depleted. He ran all the way back to the base and ran in the conference room to find Gravitonne and Cable talking.
"I...think the Herald...might have followed me.." Vortex managed to say before passing out.

I appologize for the absence but like carren said I was in a car accident. I am glad to be alive. The car flipped at least twice. And I'm glad to have walked away with only an injured left hand. I thank you all for your concern and I would ask that you cont this game with out me because it may be at least a week before I may beable to type again. (Note this is being typed by a friend) Don't kill the boss before I get back.

Moon Chaser watched the scene beneath her unfold...Siren's expression was closed, Unreadable...Always one to respect privacy...she wheeled around and took to the sky.

Cable: Why do they call you Moon?

She landed lightly on one foot and smiled a cold cruel smile.

Moon: Why do they call you Cable?

Cable: .....I asked first.

Moon: When I use my energy, my face glows ivory......call it a poetic liscence.

Wolverine finished his training, walking to mend a huge tear in his jerkin. His reaction time had been slow against a mimic Sentinel. He decided to try to move more than fight so that he'd be more agile than strong. As he walked into the mansion, he saw Gravitonne crying silently. He shook his head as Cable headed to comfort him. Cable stopped, nodded, and began anew his conversation with Siren.

It was hard going. Not because of the nurmerous hostile meetings with muggers and patrolling soldiers, but because of the unfavourable rain that bore down on them from the Heavens. God was not in the mood to make their trek any easier. By Bishop's calculations, they should be at the X Mansion in at the most, four days, without interruption.

They walked close together, engaging in much small talk and plesantaries, although he could sense that she was not really in the mood to talk. The reality of her families death was finally sinking in, and it was begining to show on her face and in her tone of voice.

Four days, he thought, and all the questions would be answered. But what if they weren't? What would happen to the questions then? What if they were, rather than answered, intensafied? Four day . . . For now, all he could do was walk.
