Alright I'm sure by now you all have seen Christina's new video, I just wanted to know what you all thought about it.

Frankly I thought she just wants to out-do Britney. I'm not one for any pop but damn she looks hot, slutty....yet hot.

Tell me what you think.

Song-wise, Christina has always talked about sex. It was just disguised by a glittery video and pop-ish beat. The only thing new about "Dirrty" is the obvious hip-hop influence.

As for the video, it does seem like she was trying to out-do Britney. The difference, however, is that Britney Spears' sexually inticing videos were done a lot more tastefully than Christina's. I guess the director of the "dirrty" video can be partially blamed for that, but Christina had no objections to how the video was presented. I mean, the video was 10 times raunchier than Redman's video to "Let's Get Dirty." BET has to show this video on its 3am Un-Cut sexually explicit video block (not that I watch it or anything.)

So really, she over-did it this time.

Ugh. Cristina has--and always will be a slut. However--one of my friends is completely convinced that C.A. isn't all that bad. "Genie in a Bottle" is very blatantly about sex, but my friend tried to "convince" me that it's about a girl talking to her boyfriend, saying she needs to be treated right. Pfff.

And I have another friend (she's thinks I like her but I hate her guts. She tried to shove a dog toy in my mouth. Eugh. She disgusts me.) who is absolutely in love with Britney Spears.

In my opinion, both of them suck. Badly. And unless they go back and start over with doing something different, and going somewhere different (Ok, I'll admit, Britney's starting videos weren't that bad. But then she turned into Christina. *shudder* Still gives me nightmares) then my opinion will never change of them. Done ranting.

I really hate..no, despise...no, loathe CA. I hated when that video came out..she tried to look like she was tough or something. I really think that she and Britney need help, serious help. They're really not trying to reach out to the teenage girls like they set out to do, but putting more attention on boys who just hit puberty. It's like they're saying to little teen girls, "Hey, go buy a slutty outfit and go to some bars and grind your butt on boys' lower bodies." I think it's humiliating to all teen, boys and girls, for them to be doing that....and both of them and their mothers should be ashamed.

I love them both, but I have stopped listening to Britney after her movie Crossroads debuted. Christina and Britney are both very beautiful in my opinion, and though I agree with what people said about this sexual turn they have taken, I have to say that both are in their early twenties. They are both old enough to legally buy beer and cigarettes, so whatever they decide to do with their image is their decision, after all, they can't be sweet little teenagers forever. What worries me is when parents allow their 5 and 6 year old chilren to walk around dressed like the two of them.

You are a sad, sad person, you know that? Who should care if they're able to drink, or smoke, or wear clothes that make them look like a one-cent crackwhore, the thing is they shouldn't. What kind of role model are they? That gives off a "it's ok to have sex when you're not married" and a "it's ok to walk around prostituting yourself to thousands of strangers" kind of idea to kids nowdays. I don't care if they're old enough, if they had any brains in their head, they wouldn't do it anyway!

Ranting done.

I never said I agreed with their decisions. You just have to know that no matter how much anyone disagrees with the direction they take their image, its their decision and no one can do anything other than either agree with it or rant about it. I said I agreed with everyone else about the image, although I still like both of them, but still, these are grown women and no matter what you think about it, they can do what they want when they want.

Why is it that everyone is on their case about the way they dress now? Both have been the way they are from the beginning. Remember Baby one more time and Genie in a Bottle? While Britney was dressed like a slutty catholic girl, Christina was baring her flesh as well. Like everyone else, I don't agree with this turn, although I still think both are very beautiful, but it is their decision, not the fans. As for being role models: No one said they were in the music business to be role models in the first place. In fact, no one goes into the music business to be role models, except maybe Christian and Gospel singers. They got in for the money and the achievement of a life-long dream, just like everyone else. It is not their obligation as singers to be role models. Their job is to make good music to attract a fan-base. And since when has dressing like a Catholic School girl with an exposed navel and dancing around the hallways with teen boys been the act of a "role model"?

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but we can't make them stay "sugar-coated" teenagers forever. The parents have the responsibility to teach kids the how to dress and conduct themselves properly, not Britney or Christina.

Now , now, no need for name calling.

The fact of the matter is, in todays society, it IS okay to have sex before you get married. And looking like a whore doesn't actually mean BEING one.
The point of videos like that is to . . SHOCK HORROR ! turn guys on, which means more guys want to see it, which means it gets more air play, sending it shooting up the charts, and selling millions of records in the process, so they can, guess what? Come on, somebody? What is it the music buisness is built on these days? Talent? No, that's not right, guess again. There we go, it's MONEY ! They make lots and lots of money.
Now I'm not saying I think eight year old girls should go around tramping themselves in slutty outfits, but I'm sure it's the PARENTS job to moniter what their kids watch and wear, not Christina Aguliaras !
She is doing what human nature makes us all do, use our best assests to get ahead in life, hers being that she is so goddam hot !
Hypothetical situation, you're trapped in the jungle, with an eight year old, and you're cornered by a hungry lion. You're naturally strong and know how to kill the animal. Do you

A - Save yours and the kids life ?
B - Die, because you might encourage the kid to kill pretty little kittys ?

Now, I could continue to totally obliterate every single arguement you throw at me, and fight your views of innosence and purity with the of gritty realism, and then retort to name calling, as you yourself have done, or I could just calm down and think that everybody has their own opinion, and just because it doesn't match mine, I shouldn't think of them as "sad, sad people".

Anyone in a prominant posistion (singers, actors, sports stars, politicans or whatever) has to consider that being in the spotlight that much is going to lead to them being role models for someone. Millions of people buy these girls' CDs, it's bound to happen. In the case of some bands, they just want to play... But I really think Aguilera and Spears are in this just as much for the popularity it gives. And because of this, they both know there are girls and such that might look up to them; most likely because they want to be a singer themselves. So they watch people like Spears, and they see half naked girls rubbing up on things. Like it or not, people look up to them. Little girls seeing that cannot lead to good things, especially if it leads them to believe they have to act like that to get anywhere. At the same time, I can't say that Spears or Aguilera should change, mostly because they should make their own decisions (assuming they aren't just being told to do most of this stuff, which I doubt anyway). What they're going for right now is their business.

I'm not sure what group of people these songs appeal to. I find that mostly girls buy the stuff, which I find strange considering all the videos seemed designed to get guys interested. I do know quite a few guys who go on and on about Spears (few talk about Aguilera lol).I can say I'm not all that interested in either of them for many of these reasons.

I couldn't have put it better myself !

The fact of the matter is the look sexy to attract a male fanbase. If you don't like it, nobodys forcing you to pay any attention to it.

They don't JUST watch people like Britney. In case you hadn't noticed, the tantalising, slutty tennie bopper is on the out ! These days the popularity is heading towards more tomboyish figures - Avril Livagne, Pink, Gwen Steffani etc. These girls are not nowhere near as slutty as the aforementioned ladies in question. These rough, loud women are what is respeceted now.
But, if we were in a time zone where such sluttiness can't be tolerated, then we'd have to go back a few years, as far back as the time when women didn't work, because they had to take care of the baby. Then they're bad role models too, women, out for themselves, as independant as, if not more than men. Whoever heard of such a crazy notion? What's next? Gay singers influencing our sons? DEAR GOD NO ! ! !

But, if you're still woried, remember, that the music industry is fickle. Like a fad, whats popular this year, won't be in another two.

So sit back and enjoy the ride, cause chances are, you mightn't see another one like it ever again .

What are you rambling on about? I don't care what's popular or not. The fact is little girls have and still do see those things. A lot of people still like and listen to Spears and Aguilera, despite anyone else being popular. Pink, Stefani and Avril are nowhere near what Spears was a while back in terms of popularity.

I still fail to see what any of that has to do with what you selectively quoted me for. They did, and still do these things. Because they are not as popular, it suddenly is different? I also did say they can, and do, what they want. Just like the other person you quoted. Nowhere did I say in my post that they just watch Britney, or really anything like what you just said. You are taking part of what was said here to an extreme level. Whether or not you think they are role models or not doesn't matter, other people do. I'm not saying it totally influences their life, but it is a factor. I think that's all anyone was saying in the first place.

I've seen little girls dressing up just like Spears and whoever else. Maybe they are just trying to dress up like a slut they saw on the corner? I really doubt that. Celebrities have influences on kids lives, some kids more than others. Who knows if these same girls are going to suddenly want to pretend they are "punk" like Avril? And either way, how does that have to do with what Aguilera and Spears are trying to sell? Let alone any of the points that I or anyone else were trying to make.

The truth is that Christina and Britney are influencing young girls to dress like them, which gives their male peers (and maybe even older men) the wrong idea. Should little girls be allowed to dress like this? Of course not. That's how sexual harrassment happens.

HOWEVER, Christina Aguilera is not your daughter, not your little sister, and not your neice. You are in no way in charge of what a grown woman dresses like and how she behaves. You are in charge of your own kids.

If a child you're supposed to take care of is trying to dress like either one of them and you don't like it, stop them! It's your responsibility as a legal guardian and the child's real role model to tell your child how not to dress, if you think it's unsafe for them. If Christina and Britney dress that way, it doesn't mean you should let your own kids dress that way just because they're pop idols. Protect your daughters. Tell them that it's wrong and why. If that doesn't work, go for some good ol fashioned discipline!

I think it's okay that my 4 year old little sister listens to Briney Spears and watches rap videos. It's just music and television. However, if that girl even tries to walk outside wearing only a thong and a bikini top, I will have a good long talk with her and our parents. And if that doesn't work? I'll turn into Big Brother Drill Sargent and let that girl know the downside of dressing that way like an episode of Maury.

Raise your kids. Don't let Britney and Christina's music videos do it for you.

Your 5 word post is really informative.

I was just watching this video on Muchmusic and they have a warning at the beginning advising that "this video has scenes of sex realted matter" or something like that.

What do you think of that?

First of all, Sere called you a sad, sad, person... where I come from that's less of a name and more of a summary of opinions.. and if she was doing it just for the sake of name calling, then it was a pretty pathetic attempt.. so I don't think that's the reason..
The fact of the matter is, in todays society, it IS okay to have sex before you get married. And looking like a whore doesn't actually mean BEING one.
In today's society it may be OK to have sex before you're married. It's also OK to have sex with an offspring, in some countries. Does that make it any more right?? My point is you can't judge absolute rights and wrongs by the way that society views them at any one time.. and personally I think it's a good thing to have 'no sex before marriage' as a moral to stick to. The fact that I'm a Christian doesn't make any difference to that fact, as I've always felt that way on that issuie, and I've been a Christian for 5 months..
The point of videos like that is to . . I hate sarcasm.. it's pretty much a mechanism whereby stupid people can try to look intelligent. OK, the odd bit of sarcasm here and there does no harm but most intelligent people use it in an intelligent way..

I think we all know what the music business is built upon these days.. personally I doubt half the pop stars of today can even sing.. a lot don't even bother to sing in public, and just dance around miming for an hour or so. Because as you said, it's built around money rather than talent. It always has been, the difference now being that people like you care much less about the actual talent in the music and more on the way someone looks. Sere isn't stupid; I think she knows that music is built around money, and she never said otherwise, so don't go arguing about something that's not been said..
Now I'm not saying I think eight year old girls should go around tramping themselves in slutty outfits, but I'm sure it's the PARENTS job to moniter what their kids watch and wear, not Christina Aguliaras!
I don't know if you've noticed, but:

1- Kids don't look up to just any old person and model themselves around them- they look to someone that everyone knows about, and

2- When your parents told you that something was just plain wrong, did you ever actually listen? Kids are rebellious, and the only way to really stop kids watching this stuff is to stop showing it when kids are watching OK, a lot of kids watch TV even after they're supposed to, but that is the parent's responsibility, not what is actually on T.V.
She is doing what human nature makes us all do, use our best assests to get ahead in life, hers being that she is so goddam hot !
Human Nature tells us to do many things. Stealing is human nature: you see what you want and get it, even if it's someone else's. Rape is human nature in pretty much the same way. The only difference is, society hasn't bent it's moral code to work around our problems with these issues yet. OK, using your best assets isn't particularly bad most of the time, but certain 'assets', such as stealing to get ahead, cause more harm than not.
Hypothetical situation, you're trapped in the jungle, with an eight year old, and you're cornered by a hungry lion. You're naturally strong and know how to kill the animal. Do you

Let me get this straight... you are comparing letting women dress up like whores while children are watching.. you're comparing that to saving a child's life by killing a lion?? That comparison just doesn't work.. for one thing you would actually be saving a life in the first example of your hypothetical question. In the case we are actually discussing, the women who are role models for these kids, whether we like it or not, are dressing up in ways which you say you don't want kids to..

You're not just sad, you're arrogant and self-absorbed too.. realism may be gritty but it's people that make it that way, rather than that being the way it's supposed to be.. Just try to destroy every argument I throw at you, and fight my views of innocence and purity, because I've developed those views from the same world that your views stem from, so I know how the rest of the world chooses to work..

And don't make yourself out to be so self-righteous "Everyone has their own opinion" after putting down Sere's opinions just because she said you were a sad person..

Put a little more thought in your posts please.

And Deus Ex....a tear trickled down my face while reading your post.

The point of the matter is Christina Aguilera is not telling little girls to dress like that. She is not their mother, so in no way is she responsible for getting girls to dress like that, unless of course the little girls have no guidance in their life.

Now on to "SLUTTTTTTTTTTTY WHORE" issue. TN you should know better than to 2 word post.:lecture:

In no way am I sticking up for her but give her some credit. She's getting paid $100,000,000.00 for singing, if she sounded like a dirty crack whore who smoked 6 packs of cigarettes a day she wouldn't be getting paid that much. She must be good at what she does, which is sing, dance, and intice men.

Christina Aguilera- "I don't date white guys"

There's something I'm not ready to argue about... :p

As for Christina's talent... she's a very talented singer. That much is true. Her vocal ability is very powerful. The one thing holding her back is the fact that she has no control over it. She admits to never being trained.

I give her some bonus points for this picture...

I honestly don't find her all that attractive. Sure she looks good, but not to the point some are making it seem. Anyway, even if you do or don't agree with some side on this role model issue, she is hardly like thr root of all evil heh.

It's funny how this seems to cause more of an uproar than the million and one things someone like Puff Daddy has done in recent months. All of which were infinitely worse in comparison.
