Lalaith nodded as he listened to Strider's tale. He then walked off towards the forest. He was worried. No matter where they went evil followed. He sighed. They'd have to take a dangerouse route. Away from all villages. He musn't allow innocents to be massacred like the village they were heading towards. The images of the body parts made his stomach lurch. He sighed and went back to the fellowship. He cleared his throat trying to get everyone's attention.

"We're going to leave in one hour. Get rest. The road is going to get harder. We are going to avoid all villages-"

Lauren: "Do you think that is wise?"

"Lauren it seems evil's black hand follows us. If I lead us into another village and more innocents are killed, I'm afraid I'll be the one to be blamed. We can't let so many innocents die. We'll have to travel through the forest."

Lalaith sighed. The forest was dangerouse. THey would eventually cross Gu'Loak. The darkest forest of them all. It would be very dangerouse.

Abob curled up in the back of the cart, the wound in his side magically healed by Ryan's amazing skill. Ryan was ok now, having recovered from a momentary flash of tremendous pain, the origin of which they still couldn't figure out. He was worried about Ryan; the wizard had been looking more haggard and tired each day. It seemed as if this quest was taking more out of him than even he realized.

He sits up and begins to look at the surrounding trees. For the most part they are small and stumpy, without leaves or fruit. Like in the dead of winter, without a single snowflake. It was unnerving to see the trees look so dead in the middle of spring, and was a sign of a great evil at work. An evil that had to be stopped at any cost.

Abob gets out of the cart and walks over to one of the few sturdy looking trees, then uses his sword to slice off almost all of its nimble branches. He carry's them back to the cart and start's to carve them into arrows. It was tedious work, but necessary to his survival in battle. Normally he would have used any of the Orc arrows that littered the ground, but something wasn?t right about these Orcs and he didn?t dare keep one of their weapons.

Abob packs his things into his backpack, and pulls out a worn and fraying blanket. He wraps it around himself and is soon fast asleep, freed from the anxiety, danger and general turmoil of everyday life...

I sat down and shook my head. I was in the expance of my mind again. I was beggining to hate this solitary room. I stood up and started walking in one direction. I went infinately that way for what seemed like hours but was probably only minutes. I looked around and sat down again. The red star on the horizon in my mind had grown. It was almost the size of my fist now. I stood up, naked and cold, and looked at the star. It disturbed me somehow. It seemed to glow brighter as I looked at it.
??- "...*Whisper*..." My head snapped around. Where had it came from? "...*Whisper*..."

Ryan- "Who's there?" The portal back into my body appeared in the middle and I jumped in hurredly. My eyes opened slowly to see blue sky, and dead trees. I groaned and rolled on my side.

Lauren- "Take it easy. You not fully recovered yet." I looked at Lauren and gave her a weak smile. Once I was back on my back I closed my eyes and dozed.

Lauren smiled as Ryan slowly drifted back to sleep. She yawned herself. She was tired, but she couldn't bring herself to sleep. She looked around; Abob was sleeping peacfully in his blanket, Samantha was sleeping as well, Strider was sitting in the treetop, taking first watch. But Lalaith was sitting with his back to a tree with his hand on his handle. Lauren quietly crawled over to him and lay her head upon his shoulder.

"What is troubling(sp?) you, Lalaith?"

She whispered to Lalaith, he shifted uncontrolably,

"I can't help thinking... if I have made the right decision over the past journey's."

He said slowly, Lauren chuckled,

"I thought you were over this, Lalaith. If we are still all alive, you have made the right decisions."

Lalaith looked at his wife and smiled.

"Of course. But, I made my promise to you in our first quest. I will be your bodyguard untill the end of our days together."

Lauren smiled,

"Just make sure you look out for the others as well as you look out for me."

And with that she fell asleep, leaving Lalaith to go back to glancing at everyone and thinking about Gu'loak...

Abob sits alone in the middle of the circle of the sleeping fellowship members, keeping a silent watch over the camp.

He can't seem to sleep, the mysterious evil they were facing weighing heavily on his tired mind. How could something the evil exist? If it was worse than Bahamut and the Void, then how could it possibly be defeated? If they did defeat it, then would the cycle of new threats and new quests continue until they all were dead?

It was almost too much. Part of him wanted to leave, run away from these problems and back to the mountains on the island where he had spent ten years grieving for his family. The only thing that kept him here was his friends. Over their years of fighting together their fighting styles had become so integrated and reliant on each other that they were nearly unstoppable. But if one of them were to die or leave, then it would make things very difficult for everyone else. Even the simple battles would become complicated.

Abob put the thoughts of evil and escape in the back of his mind a gazed into the forest that surrounded them. He had a feeling that nothing was going to happen to them tonight. The battle had destroyed almost all of the enemies' forces in the area. They would have a day's head start, maybe two. Then it would be a struggle to keep ahead of pursuing forces until they reached their goal.

Suddenly he noticed something moving above the tree line. Far off in the distance, almost too far away to see was a long line of pin head sized lights. They were moving over a distant mountain range, and heading straight for their encampment. Only Orcs would be stupid enough to light torches for a secret night march. The enemy force was still a few days journey away, but they would need to decide whether or not they were going to allow the Orcs to get closer while they slept.

Abob got up and walked over to Lalaith, the shook his friend awake...

OOC: *Gets on his knees and yells for joy* FINALLY!! ITs back!

Lalaith arose slowly as Abob shook him. As Lalaith's vision cleared he saw his friend's face in front of him. He smiled and stood up. He looked down at his sleeping wife and smiled. There was a strang feeling in his stomach then he looked around. His smile turned into a grimace then a frown as he realized where he was. He looked back at Abob.

"Something the matter?"

Abob: "Yes there is an orc army around 2 days away from us, they are coming from the south east. Do you think it wise to stay here and let them gain more ground or should we begin to move?"

Lalaith thought for a moment then looked up at his friend.

"First off you need to get back into that cart!"

Abob: "I'm fi-"

"Get in the cart...."

Lalaith guided Abob to the cart and helped him in.

"No matter what we are going to battle and we need you at your full strength."

Abob nodded slowly. Lalaith looked at Abob for a moment then nodded to himself. He let his eyes drift over the fellowship, memories flickered in his mind as he saw each one of them. He smiled at some of the memories and grimaced at others. He sighed as he made up his mind.

"If the orcs are going to walk during the night and sleep during the day, then we shall too. Get ready, we will be leaving shortly."

Lalaith tried to make sure he sounded firm. As Abob looked into his eyes he could see a fear in him. The look in his eyes was almost the one of a child. Lalaith was a harden fighter and a great leader, but in truth he was still the scared child of the first fellowship. Abob sighed and nodded.

Lalaith studied his friend slowly. As Abob nodded Lalaith let out a deep breath. If his friend agreed it was a better choice. He relied on Abob more than anyone knew. Lalaith then turned around and walked towards the sleeping fellowship. He went to Lauren first. He crouched down and kissed her on the cheek. He smiled looking at her then shook his head as he remembered what was going on. He slowly set his hand on her shoulder and shook her lightly till she woke up.

Lauren: "What is it?"

"We are moving, we will sleep in the day now. I'll explain when we start moving. Help me wake the others."

Lauren nodded than slowly arose. She yawned slowly than walked over to Samantha while Lalaith strode over to the tree Strider was sitting in.

Lauren softly shook Samantha awake than smiled,

"Lauren, what is it? The sun has not yet arisen."

She said grogily(sp?) sitting up and rubbing her eyes,

"Yes, Lalaith said that there is an emergency. He has asked me to awake the others.Come, regain your strangth and help"

Samantha nodded and slowly stood up. Lauren watched Lalaith climb the tree up to where Strider was quietly keeping watch and she turned around. (OOC: Hey... what exactly happened to Iondarc? Is he back or what? I missed the post if e came back) And saw Samantha wake up Ryan. There was a deathly quiet moment. For once everyone wasn't in some kind of battle. Abob was sitting in the cart, Samantha and Ryan were talking and Lalaith and Strider had just jumped from the tree with grim looks on their faces. Lalaith cleared his throat and said...

OOC: You don't give me a break do yoU!? :p...Iondarc needed a break from the RPG for a while. I'm sure he'll be returning soon enough. He asked me to send him off so it was ALL his idea! Don't kill me!

Lalaith looked at the fellowship. His muscles tensed and he sighed.

"Draw your weapons...Yet another army is breathing down our backs. They are coming from the south."

Lalaith turned to the South and drew his sword. He heard the familar sound of metal scraping out of sheaths and the twang of last minute adjustments to bows.

"Abob, get out of the cart. It won't be safe in there."

As Abob climbed out an idea hit Lalaith.

"Push the cart over. If they have archers we can use this cart to our advantage."

Abob nodded and pushed the cart on its side. Lalaith then looked at the horse. He wasn't going to let the horse stay there and get killed. He ran over and lept onto it gracefully. He swung his sword in the air.

"Be ready, they're coming!"

As Lalaith finished his sentence the low rumble of feet was heard. Lalaith positioned himself and the horse in-front of the rest of the fellowship. He clasped the reigns in one hand and clenched his sword handel in the other. He waited patiently holding the horse still. The brush in front of him moved slightly. The orcs were withing 10 paces. The orcs weren't visible yet, but he knew they were there. Lalaith looked at Lauren and nodded. He put pressure on the horses chest and the horse galloped forward. As the first orc cleared the brushline Lalaith swung his sword down immediatly decapitating the orc.

Abob notched his bow and began to fire arrows all around Lalaith. Orcs fell to the ground, killed by Abob's arrows or Lalaith's sword.

Then the other members of the fellowship joined the fray, drawing their swords and forming a line. They fought off their opponents with great skill, and soon the bodies were piling up. Orcs were stumbling through masses of their dead and dying comrades, who were grabbing anyone in reach to plead for help. This slowed down the enemy army immensely, making the battle into a slaughter.

Lalaith charged back and fourth in front of the line, filling in where needed and using his sword to dispatch any Orcs which came into his area of the battlefield.

About twenty minutes into the fighting, just as the fellowship was beginning to tire, the ground began to shake with giant footsteps. Abob looks up and sees several trolls advancing from the left.

Strider: "Look out!"

Abob shifts his attention to Strider, to find his friend pointing to their right flank. Several dozen Orcs riding wolves were rapidly approaching.

Abob: "Lalaith, we have to get out of here!"

Strider drew an arrow, and notched it into his bow. He focused, the Wargs that the orcs rode were indeed mighty. Strider was still, calm, and he released the arrow. It pierced the Warg through the neck, and it collapsed to the floor, throwing the orc atop it several feet forward. Another arrow went into his bow, and he shot, and it hit another Warg between the eyes. Strider was loyal, he knew what he would have done in this situation had he been leader... but he trusted Lalaith, and so fought on, waiting patiently for his orders.

Strider shot again, and another Warg his the ground, an arrow through it's side. There were many, and the other member's of the fellowship were concentrating on the more immediate threat of the orcs and trolls. Strider had always been one to concentrate on the underlying threats... as those were usually the ones who he had the most trouble with. He was relaying on the others to keep the orcs from him, as his concentration was focused entirely on the charging Wargs.

Abob takes a step back, causing an Orc who had been about to stick his sword through Abob's side to trip over one of his dead comrades. Abob raises his long knife and plunges it into the back of his opponent's skull. Then he withdraws his sword and begins to move to the left side of the fellowship, fighting as he runs.

He chances a quick glance at Lalaith, who is at the center of the fellowship line, fighting an Orc chieftain. Abob knew that staying here longer would be suicide, but any one of them leaving would be a blow to Lalaith's leadership that his friend could never recover from.

He reached the left end of the fellowship's line and reached deep into his potion bag. He remembered a gift he had been given shortly before his first quest, a temporary shrinking potion. He withdrew several vials of the potion and tied each one to an arrow.

He notched his bow and fired again and again, finally hitting the last Troll. He then began to run into the forest towards where the trolls had been. He needed to finish them off fast otherwise they would resume their normal size n a few minutes...

With his last remaining arrow, Strider put an arrow through the head of a Warg. Only two orcs remained riding the wolf creatures... and so Strider put away his bow, and drew Anduril. He ran forward, forcing his way through the onslaught of orcs, making his way towards the last two Wargs.

He ducked under the blow of an axe, and struck the attacking orc in the back of the chest with his blade. Then he blocked a sword attack coming for his forehead, and shoved the attacking orc away, and he fell, taking a few of his comrades with him. Strider charged onwards, and eventualy he hit the small clearing, loitered with Warg corpses, and the two remaining cavalry.

One Warg immediately got up on his hind legs, roaring. Strider slashed the creature across the belly, and, when it fell forward, slashed the other way, taking off it's rider's head. Several archers whizzed past his head... they were not elven.

Strider: Lalaith... archers on the hill!

Lalaith heard Strider's cry, and looked to the small hill to the northwest... where several orc archers were firing many arrows. Strider turned back to face the last Warg. It charged, and Strider dived out of the way as it was about to hit him. The Warg stopped, turned, and roared. It's rider also let out a cry, and Strider dove forward, plunging Anduril through the Warg's chest. The rider, however, was prepared.

The orc leapt off the dead Warg, drawing two small axes, holding one in each hand. He cried angrily as he charge into battle, Strider blocked the first swing, but the other axe was brought forward, cutting his right arm. Strider shoved him off, and punched the orc in the face. The orc fell backwards, and Strider drove Anduril down through the orcs chest.

Strider: Earendil!

Strider ran back into the army of orcs, slashing wildly with his sword, progressing back towards Lalaith and the rest of the fellowship. As he went, he picked up any arrows from any Warg corpses he passed, as he knew they were his. He only collected five arrows, but he knew they would be valuable.

Abob runs through the forest towards the spot where he had seen the trolls last. He had to get to them soon, because this shrinking potion, although extremely valuable, was only temporary.

He saw some movement to his left, and took a swing at the bush from which the movement had come. A troll the size of a gnome fell out of the bush it two pieces. Abob smiled and slowed down, listening closely for any sounds of movement. There were only three Trolls left.

He stepped over a fallen log, and snapped a twig on the ground. Suddenly he saw a small figure running madly out of the forest. Abob notched his bow and fired, sending an arrow straight through the miniature trolls head.

Abob sits down on the log and begins to watch the woods around him. They have to be here somewhere, they can't run very fast or far in their current state.

Suddenly he feels a piercing pain in his lower leg as a miniature set of teeth bite down on his leg. Abob gasps in pain and pries his opponent from his leg. Then he proceeds to strangle it. It gasps for air and struggles madly, but finally dies. Abob drops it, and then begins to look for the last one.

He hears a noise behind him and turns to find the corpse growing. The potion was wearing off. He needed to find the last one fast. He noticed something behind a tree, as tall as a teenage child, and rapidly growing. Abob charges forward and cleaves off its head.

He steps back looking satisfied as giant corpses begins to take shape all around him. Then he begins to run back to assist the rest of the fellowship...
