Maverick Hunters: Personification

Demos nodded in silent, yet slightly amused, agreement. The Squad slowly walked through the Subway Station, following the increasingly intense scars upon the roof, the walls, and the floor. Blast marks were now clearly visible, and soot was everywhere. Small parts of human body remnants littered the floor, as well as the debris of the explosion. Trains were derailed, a rather big crater was where a crowd of people most likely were, and a hole around 300 meters wide was splitting the ceiling of the underground Subway system nearly in two.

While the Station was half above ground, half below, it had become very difficult to actually tell what part was which, until the raw ore was seen on the walls. Not a good sign, because it meant there was less resisting pressure against the cavern walls.

Demos: "Well, looks like someone really humped the bunk."

Nova: "Yeah, no kiddin."

Reverb called out, from the other side of the once-tiled area where people would stand, waiting to get on their respectable trains.

Reverb: "Hey guys! Look at this!"

Within just a few seconds, the rest of the Elite Squad had jogged over, to see a real bloody mess on the ground. It was more at the terminal that led to the ground level entrance.

Security Guards in Synthetic suits, those men were. Their blood was spilt after the explosion, since the blood was layered on top of the dust and debris, not to mention, aside from the gunshot and stab wounds, the guards were relatively okay. Not something that would happen after a small nuke was detonated a just around 20 meters away.

Proteus: "Well... Looks like our bomber was here and having a spot of fun."

Demos: "Get on your thinking caps, boys, it looks like we've got us a few murders now, too."

Hoverbike safely hidden, Warlock glanced around from outside the cave, before nodding to himself. Time to double check the position of the Elites, and then it would only be a short teleportation and blink away. Even though Warlock would most likely have to rest a while to regain the lost energy from the frequent teleportations, and the fact Warlock could very well be killed from even the slightist teleportation mistake. And the fact that Warlock was trying it without the aid of a teleportation hub merely added to the risk. He'd have to be lucky to successfully teleport without any problems...

But no need to think about that now. If there was trouble, teleportation would be the only way to get there in time...

Warlock: "X7! Give me their status."

X7: *radio* "Targets are in District 71, Nebula Heights."

Warlock: "Nebula Heights, hmmmm? Have you triangulated the proper locations for my teleportations?"

X7: *radio* "Yes, master. Sending the coordinates now."

Warlock just listened as a series of beeps came over the radio. While they probably would've meant nothing to others, the black and red reploid seemed to understand it perfectly. The moment he'd recieved all the coordinates, he shut off the radio, and initiated teleportation...

Not many reploids had the old teleportation system installed. Quite a few had blink, but hardly any had the more sturdy, older teleportation device. Really, having been created by Dr. Light and Dr. Wily all those years ago, the technology was really only available to those extremely few from 20XX, and the few lucky buggers who had come across the technology, probably from something buried underground...

Warlock's body began to flash, a very small amount of visible energy gathering and circling around him. And then, without any warning, his body became a streak that just rocketed into the sky...

The Elite Squad searched every inch of that cavern. Using everything from Applied Physics to Statistics and Applications, they pieced every part of that Crime Scene together. But they couldn't even start to begin to figure out who did this. They might as well have been trying to find a single specific grain of sand on the entire beaches of Earth.

But then, Kurt found a small clue. When he switched to a Diagonistic scan, to make sure the area was clear for radiation, he found a trail of uranium leading out, and towards the exit of Nebula Heights. Furthermore, there was a high concentraition of uranium in the Guards' bodies, and where the bullets had exited their bodies.

Looks like they found their break.

A few minutes after makin a quick documentation of their findings, the Squad left back for Alpha. But when they arrived at their base, some ALED cars were still there.

Demos: "Great. Friggin great. Now we've got these snob-*** bastards on our tails."

Proteus, always the peacekeeper, spoke up loudly to the ALED firstly.

Proteus: "Hey, guys, we were on specific orders to let no one get in our way. Plus Demos is a little hotheaded. We didn't come to start anythin--"

Before Proteus could finish his plee, a hoverbike zoomed in over-head, with everyone's favorite Wily Bot on it...

Demos: "Wow, Zero, I'm suprised you have the balls to actually show up. I mean, Hell, I figured you'd just spend the rest of your days in the sims acting like you knew what you were doing."

Zero: "...There's been another explosion. Around 200 more people are dead."

With just hearing this news (They didn't want anyone on their radio to hear what might have happened if push had come to shove), the ALED cars zoomed off, maknig contact with their HQ.

Demos: "Damn, that sucks Zero. You sure you didn't do it while you were having one of your temper-tantrums?"

Zero, simply sneering at Demos, turned away on his bike, going deeper into the city. Proteus shot a quick glance at Demos, something which seemed very uncharacteristic of Proteus, before the Squad boarded Alpha, and took off, following Zero's lead...

Twice in one day. Sinistrad was feeling most proud of himself. 364 casualties, including 31 ALED deaths. Sinistrad crouched lower, as he took refuge behind several overturned crates. The alley he skulked through was typical, filled with human refuse, and the makeshift dwellings of the unfortunate that seemed to infest every pitiful mortal city. Sinistrad sneered at the sleeping homeless form across from him. A pity time and circumstances prohbited another killing. Sinistrad was aware that several Hunters had been dispatched. He remained unconcerned however. He was far from the latest explosion site, and had shown a little more discretion in leaving.

The streets around him were more or less empty. Sinistrad strode along as if he was unaware there even had been explosions. A carefree manner fooled people far more than any contrived story. He stopped abruptly however, when he reached the outer limits of the city. There were several ALED vehicle patrols circling the area. Without a good reason for leaving the area, the reason for his presence there, and why the fact that he carried a weapon firing uraniam slugs and a sword were completely unrelated to the bomber, he was in trouble. A contrived story was starting to sound better and better.

Xion sighed loudly, realizing he's made a huge mistake. As he walked out of Signas' office, he made a slow, unsteady pace to the abandoned desert factory. As he walked outside the headquarters, he saw a cute reploid in the apartments putting up her hair. Then she looked out the window, right at Xion. Xion froze up, not sure what to do. He panicked and fired his leg boosters, making good time to the deserted factory that X had raided with the 17th Unit some time before, slapping himsefl mentally the whole way. The reports of seismic activity within the factory had been enough to unnerve Xion as he passed the remains of a Cannon-legger...

Chaos stood in the centre of his domed training facility, perfectly still, head down. He held the long handle of his Z:2 beam sabre between both hands. His helmet was off, and he had disengaged all circuitry from his "brain" to projectile weaponry, and communications. This way, if he lost, there was no way for him to bail out using the buster, or by calling for help. Around him, two modified cleaning cyborgs circled him. They both had simple beamsabres, and had been programmed by Chaos with over 10 forms of sword discilpines. They were basically just the cyborg skeleton, in this way they were minimized as a target, and were able ti moe faster, without any heavy armour or artificial muscle.

The head technician had agreed to help construct these fighting droids for Chaos to train, as long as they had a chip inserted that would shut them down as soon as they had their opponent in a life threatening position. Chaos, of course, has removed this chip. If he was bad enough to lose, then he didn't deserve to be an elite. Both cyborgs continued to circle him, waiting for their signal to attack (which was at the point when Chaos ingited his sabres).

Two red beams shot out of either side of the handle at his command, and immediately the cyborg's moved in. One cut vertically down towards Chaos' head. Chaos blocked, and with a sweeping motion, threw the attack off to one side. Using this momentum, he turned and blocked an attack to his left shoulder by the other android. His sabre caught his enemies above his blade, so Chaos was able to force his enemies sabre towards the ground. As he did this, he turned and thrust one end of his sabre through the back of the droids spinal circuit. The droid sparked wickedly, then dropped to the floor as the sabre fell from his clutches.

Immediately Chaos had to turn and make a late block towards his right side. He had blocked with the sabre facing the ground, and in one giant arking cut, he brought the enemies sabre above their heads, and down onto their left side. Then, with the other sabre, he brought it back, cutting through the neck of the second cyborg. With both cyborgs defeated, he put away his sabre, and, using a simple connection in both shoulders, logged back on with his X-33 buster and Chaos buzzsaw. Then, on came his helmet, and his communication systems came online. Immediately he heard Signas' voice yelling for him.

Signas: Hasn't anyone found him yet? Chaos, where the héll are you?

Chaos: I'm here, I'm here... what's up?

Signas: What's up?! You infernal piece o' junk. Your supposed to be on a mission, that's what. Now get over to docking, grab a speeder bike, and go to to co-ordinates I'm pitching to your navigation board.

Chaos: Okay... boss.

As Xion walked into the abandoned factory, passing the remains of deactivated and destroyed Mavericks and former members of the 17th unit, he shuddered. He saw the huge, roundish Maverick-Crusher that was capable of eliminating a city in a few days. Xion searched his scanner for the source of the tremors that had Signas worried. He found an old hoverbike in need of repair. He made a mental note to come back and take it to the garage as a special project. He then jumped into a pit, moving through some shutter-doors into the central area. Almost immediately he had to jump to avoid getting crushed by a huge mace. He looked up and saw the source of the seismic activity, an upgraded Mav-Crusher. Xion jumped into the air, up against the wall, and jumped back towards the robot's head, slashing the head. Yet the huge split in the thing's head had no effect. It laughed as well as a robot could, smashing Xion into a wall with its mace hand. It pulled back its other mace hand, getting ready to crush Xion quickly. Xion commed the base for back-up as he slashed the mace hand that was holding him, cutting it cleanly in half and releasing him. Xion found the remains of an old buster on the ground, picked it up, and forced his energy into it, charging it up fast. He fired, releasing a huge beam at the thing. It never moved again. Xion then climbed up the wall, grabbed the bike, and walked it to the garage. Xion wondered if he'd ever be considered elite as he began to upgrade his hoverbike, building it to be better and faster than the Hunter Standard Issue hoverbikes...

Warlock now stood calmly on a building not too far from the District 71. A clam breeze was evident all around him, but he didn't seem to notice at all. No, he was just watching Alpha speed off, X7 following closely behind.

Sighing, he crossed his arms in front of himself and wondered if they were just returning to base, or there was another job they had to do, whatever it was.

Warlock: "X7, any idea where they're going?"

X7: "No, sir."

Shrugging his shoulders, the ex-Hunter thought he might as well follow. No harm in that, is there? Taking a look around, he quickly brought up his HUD, double checking his systems before trying to blink.

A list of power levels, the status of weapons, approximate location coordinates among many other readouts, things that would not mean anything to certain people.

Smirking slightly, Warlock brought down his black, no reflection visor. To most people who had seen him over a year before in the Hunters, he would look familiar, except for certain aspects such as his new helmet and included visor.

Staring at the retreating Alpha transport, he began to faze out, until he was no longer there.

He appeared on top of a building a 100 feet away. But the moment he had fazed in, he fazed out once again, continuing to follow the Hunter transport...

The ride to the next crime scene was mostly quiet. Demos was enraged once again at the fact that Zero even walked the Earth, Proteus was going over a self-diagnostic, Nova was polishing his buster, and Kurt was just sitting there, nose occasionally twitching, indicating he was smelling this or that.

Proteus' head snapped up, as did Nova's and Demos'. They both 'saw' the small blip of energy, similar to that of a teleportation. They all, while not saying a word and not giving a hint that they knew something, seemed to find the signature familier. A few seconds later, they shook it off, and cleared it off of their scan. It was probably just Reploid medics beaming into the scene of the crime to avoid debris.

A few minutes later, Alpha arrived at the scene. It was the same as the other. An apartment complex this time, deep in the central of District 71. The surrounding buildings were ablaze with fire, the ground that the block was standing on was highly unstable, and general disorder was everywhere.

Everyone boarded out of Alpha, and started their search for any clues, dispite the obvious danger that was afoot.

Proteus and the others walked through the street, which was littered with charred metal, large chunks of concrete and other heavy debris.

The iris in each of Proteus' eyes began to spin anti-clockwise rapidly, changing colour from light blue to light purple. This allowed Proteus to scan for life signatures and possible clues that might otherwise be missed by the regular security teams.

Reverb walked up beside him, carrying a self-contained parcel for evidence gathering.

Reverb: Find anything?

Proteus: Not yet...

Reverb: Proteus...?

Proteus: Yeah?

Reverb: I don't understand this. I mean, whoever did this...why did they do it?

Proteus' eyes returned to their original light blue colour. He turned around to face Reverb.

Proteus: Because they want our attention. They want to demonstrate that they are in control, not us.

Reverb: I see...

Proteus: Is something troubling you?

Reverb: I don't know. I feel something that I've never felt before. I understand what you mean about getting our attention, but...why do it by killing innocent people? Why not attack Hunter HQ?

Proteus: Good question. Whoever did this wants our attention...but they do not want us to know who they are. At least, not yet. I don't think anyone would be able to attack Hunter HQ and survive. It's the most heavily guarded place on Earth.

Reverb nodded.

Reverb: I feel a little like an outsider here, too. I mean, Demos seems angry about something...I feel like I've walked in on the middle of a conversation.

Proteus smiled.

Proteus: I know how you feel. I was new to all this once myself...but I'm not new anymore. I tend to ignore any power struggles within Hunter HQ.

Reverb kicked away a small piece of concrete with his foot absently.

Reverb: Still, they seem to trust you.

Proteus: Well, I've been here a while now...I've seen so many things and been through so many experiences with these reploids. Sometimes we disagree, but we still understand each other.

Reverb smiled. He seemed comforted by this fact. And now, he felt more comfortable to just undergo his duties without worrying about stepping on anyone's toes.

Reverb: Well...I'm going to continue the search. Good luck finding something Proteus.

Proteus smiled and continued searching through the debris...

Kurt crouched down, manevering his boomstick next to a piece of rubble on top of a few others. He concentrated, and then took a firm grip on the stick as it extended, shoving the rubble off.

There was a man on his side under it. Kurt balked, then hesitantly touched him, to see if he was alive. In response, the body rolled onto it's back, showing the burns that went through the bone.

With a startled cry, he backed away, tripping over another piece of rubble. He landed on his back with a grunt. For a few moments he remained there, before looking up slowly at the body. With the equivilant of his cheeks burning happening to him, he stood up slowly...knowing that they did and yet hoping that nobody saw. The small reploid swallowed, shook his head, and tried to get back to work.

He cautiously moved another piece of rubble, backing away slightly in case there was another. There was one - but when he reached out to touch it, the man moaned softly. Kurt could tell he was hurt...but he didn't know /how/ hurt.

"H-hey! I found someone!" he shouted over his shoulder. "He's alive!" Then, after pausing for a few moments, he added, "Maybe he saw something?"

As Reverb scoped out the surrounding area, he picked up something very faint on his sensors. He looked around. No-one else had noticed it. Perhaps no-one else had the sensor capabilities to pick up such a minute signal, he thought to himself. Cautiously, he looks around, trying to locate the source of it. It occured again, and his HUD pinpointed the source. Before he tried anything, he looked back to the rest of the group. Demos was with Proteus and Kurt, picking up a piece of rubble off a crushed man. He looked to be alive, but only just. Demos was shouting... Again.

Demos: Dammit... First we gotta be CSI. Then we gotta be Detectives. Now we're Medics? I'm gonna grill Signas for this.

Reverb looked back to the pinpointed signal, on the rooftop of a fairly high-class apartment block. Cautiously, Reverb armed his Buster, and entered the building. He went around every corner with extensive stealth, pressing his back up against corners and peeking round. Infiltration, he thought to himself. One of the more major aspects of Maverick Hunter training.

Once he reached the stairs, he ran. Soon enough, he was on the seventh floor, the highest floor, excluding the roof. Reverb entered the corridoor, taking care as he walked quietly down it, constantly turning his head to make sure no-one was coming up behind him. Finally, he reached the door to room 716. The very faint signal was coming from here. Without thinking, Reverb breathed deeply. This confused him, as he knew as well as anybody that Reploids don't breath. But somehow, it calmed him. With his buster brimming with energy, he swallowed his fear, and kicked the door down, and held his Buster up, pointing it at the signal.

There stood a Reploid, about 5'10" suited in Red and Black armour, a faded black trenchcoat left unbuttoned draped over him. The Reploid turned to face Reverb immediately, a sneer on his face. He drew a buster of his own, and took a shot at the rookie hunter. Reverb sidestepped the shot, and launched a counter attack at the Red and Black Reploid. The Reploid replied by shooting his arm up, a long red blade lashed out, blocking Reverbs shot. The Reploid raised his buster, ready to fire, but suddenly stopped. He lowered his weapons and deactivated his Beam Sabre. His black visor slid upwards, revealing eyes full of shock and sorrow.

Warlock: Flash? Is that you?

Reverb was confused, but kept his Buster pointed straight at the Reploid.

Reverb: My name is Reverb, Maverick Hunter Elite... You've mistaken me for someone else. Identify yourself!

Warlock: You're really not him... But you look just like...

Reverb: I said Identify yourself!

Reverbs voice was shaky. This was the first time he'd been in a face-to-face situation with a potential Maverick. And what's more, this Reploid had confused him with someone. What did it all mean?

Warlock: Call me... Light.

With that, Warlock disappeared, teleporting away. Reverb held two fingers to his temple, activating a direct comm. link to Alpha's CPU. Once connected, he ran a wide-area scan via the cities own radar domes, trying to find the location of the Reploid he had encountered earlier. But all results came up negative. Reverb let his buster form back into a hand, and shakily exited the building. What does all of this mean?!, he thought rapidly, images of the Red and Black reploid racing through his mind. As he left the apartment building, his thoughts were interupted by Demos.

Demos: Where'd you get off to?

Reverb: I was.. just doing some Recon.

Demos: Alright then. We're performing a final sweep of the area. You've got north. I'm taking east, Proteus west, and Kurt south. Got it?

Reverb: Right, I got it.

Demos: Good.

Demos turned to his left, and performed various scanning tasks as he headed East. Reverb looked at a fairly small street leading to a mountain in front of him. His HUD told him this was north. Thusly, Reverb began to walk, scanning his surrounds for any vital information, or lifesigns, all the while trying to ignore his brief encounter with 'Light' only moments ago. But the confusion, fear, and need for an explanation remained fastened in place in his brain.

Warlock leaned against the outside of the cave, his mouth in a frown as he decided on what to do next.

When he went to go check out what the Hunter Elites were doing this time, the one thing he didn't expect to happen was to meet someone with a design alike to that of Flash's. So alike infact that you might as well think it was Flash himself.

But it couldn't be, could it? While he himself hadn't seen it, some of the others had...

Warlock: *thinking* (But they didn't see it. For all we know Flash made something else explode, or he survived somehow. I might never know...)

Looking to the ground for a moment, memories of his old friend poured through his mind. He'd already lost his family (though Warlock still believed Protoman was still alive and kicking) and many of his friends. Would it ever stop...?

The Light family member shook his head. He'd grown past all this... He was much stronger than what he was drooping down to. He'd learned to forget about all these things in times like this. At times like this he had to act like the experienced person he was, because if he couldn't cope, how could people who were still coming in touch with their emotions stand a chance?

Turning to X1, his most faithful droid, who lay hidden in the darkness of the cave, he opened his mouth to speak.

Warlock: "I'm heading back out there to keep an eye on them, especially this Flash lookalike. Keep up your guard, y'hear?"

X1: "Of course, Warlock. Look after yourself."

Warlock: "I will. Good luck."

And with that, Warlock teleported back to his last location, eager to see what the Hunters were doing now...

The upper-right corner of Proteus' HUB flickered, indicating an incoming message from Demos.

Demos: Proteus, I want you to scan the western area of this city block. Hunter HQ has already called in Security Droids to secure the perimeter.

Proteus: Right, Proteus out.

Demos' face dissolved into the upper-right corner of the HUD, which now returned to its regular blue colour.

Proteus made his way through the rubble, periodically adjusting his environment sensors in an effort to pick up fainter signals of life. A small window appeared on the left side of his HUD, which contained a map of the immediate area. Within minutes of opening the map, a small red dot appeared to the west of where Proteus was standing. It pulsated slowly.

Proteus: Life...

Proteus began running through the street, with massive mountains of debris on either side of him. Finally, he approached a dead end. The debris was so severe, that it had blocked off an entire street to the west. Proteus decided not to blast his way through, for fear of disturbing any potential forensic evidence.

Instead, he switched his Environment Visor off with a quick eye movement. He sat down on a piece of concrete and looked around. The place was empty.

Proteus: Damn it...

After a few minutes, Proteus heard rustling nearby. He stood up and looked around cautiously. His HUD was showing no signs of life, nor any heat signatures.

???: Proteus...

Proteus froze. He looked around slowly...

Proteus: Who is it? Who's there?

The area fell silent again. Proteus closed his eyes and activated a search light function from within his OS. As he did so, a small plate of metal on his right shoulder slid to one side, producing a rectangular gap. A faint hydraulic sound was audible, as a titanium rod emerged from the gap. The front of the rod contained what looked like a small eye -- which suddenly opened. It emitted a precisely directed beam of white light into the vicinity.

???: What are you looking for?

Proteus looked up. He was sure he heard the sound from nearby...but he couldn't place it specifically.

???: You won't see me...just like those women and children didn't see me...

Proteus was hoping that someone could place a voice identification on the sound -- he had been using a special device on the side of his neck to record ambient noise. The voice sounded very strange to him -- somewhat robotic...but with just a trace of human contempt.

???: Ssshh...can you still hear them screaming?

Proteus: Show yourself!

The voice fell silent. Proteus couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from -- it was all around him.

The spotlight retracted back into his shoulder, as he began walking east toward the Alpha unit. As he walked, he played back the recording...but all he could hear was his own speech and the sound of his spotlight activating. No other sound could be heard.

Xion finished upgrading his new bike, naming it an Alaris after himself. He immediately walked into Signas' office to get some news on his family's whereabouts, and also to see exactly what had caused the destruction to that area. Signas could only look up at him with a sadness that Xion could hardly translate until Signa explained.

Signas:Xion...I'm sorry. We found your adoptive family.....they were in the area that was destroyed. I'm sorry.

Xion:But..no! It can't be! Alice... Gato..... They can't be!

Signas:I'm sorry. We got a comm from the security drones that they'd found one of Gato's... one of his arms. Its design is unmistakably Gato's. I'm sorry.

The last "I'm sorry" was unneeded, for Xion had rushed out, grabbed the Alaris, and sped to the area, tears flowing. When he reached the area, he jumped off of the Alaris, letting people marvel at the speed and design of the new hoverbike, and failed to watch where he was going. He slammed right into Proteus, who was talking to a security reploid, the one that had commed in the report, by accident.

Akira sat in the darkness of an abandoned building in the heart of the Badlands. Completly invisible because his eyes were closed, Akira tapped into X5's comm device. Akira filtered out the useless comm chatter, trying to find anything concerning Warlock. Apparently, X5 wasn't a core robot, but he communicated with Warlock's head robots. Akira tried to tapp into them, but had some difficulty. Akira didn't give up..He needed to get the nighmares of Warlock and Flash out of his head....

Having been breifed on the situation, Bogard was quickly making his way towards Alpha unit on a M class drop ship. The ship reached the Elite Hunter unit just as Proetus was returning to the unit. The drop ship hovered down to around 20 ft above the site, openning up the back hatch and allowing Bogard to jump the rest of the way down. Bogard lept from the ship, using his dash boosters to slop his decent and land softly near a group of security drones. He made his way over to the group.

Bogard - What is the situation here.

Security Drone - Pereimeter secure. Elite unit making final perimeter sweep.

Bogard - Very well. Where is Demos?

Security Drone - Eastern quardrant.

Bogard - Thank you.

With that, Bogard headed towards the Eastern vacinity of the city.

OOC: Sorry i just joined i hope i can still post from when the meeting briefing took place.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Fenir had just left the briefing and was heading towards the training room, he stepped into the domed empty room and activated the timer and set the droid level to 12. As the droids came out of the wall Fenir just looked at them with a half smirk, and continued to watch the droids file out until there was about 8 of them. They quickly surrounded him, but Fenir kept his cool, and when the computer's voice came over the P.A.

Computer: Begin Training session.

Fenir drew his F-Saber, activated the blade which turned a deep blue because Fenir had activated the elemental interface and chose the ice element. He quickly ran at the first droid and slashed it before it could react, he then turned to the other 7 and dashed into the fray. As soon as he was finished he looked around the the molten heaps that were the training droids. The computer displayed his time.

Fenir: To himself. 1 minute 9 seconds, not bad, but i could still do better.

Just as he was walking out of the door he bumped into Signas, Fenir quickly spoke to him.

Fenir: Good afternoon sir. Quickly salutes.

Signas: Huh? Oh good afternoon, uh, Fenir right??

Fenir: Yes sir.

Signas: Well how was the training session for you??

Fenir: Uh well actually I thought that it wasn't much of a challenge.

Signas: Well i got a challenge for you. Try the level 14 droids.

Fenir: Okay. I'll be sure to do that but shouldn't i be heading out on a mission soon??

Singas: Well i do have a mission for you. You are to investigate some strange anomolies that are happening in the desert. So i sugguest that you get ready to leave within the hour.

Fenir: Yes sir.

With that Fenir went to his dorm to make the necessary preperations for the upcoming mission.

Chaos arrived in the city aboard a hover bike, one of the older ones. Signas was too píssed at him to give him one of the state of the art models, especially since there was only a slim chance of it getting back. Even Chaos knew that, but still, he didn't approve of hindering his mission and speed for any longer.

Chaos looked about, his scanners trying to pick up the other Reploids. It took him mere moments. Firstly he picked up Demos off towards the east. Proteus was off West, and Kurt, who must have been the guy he passed over, was off in the South. Then he picked up Reverb, off in the North. It was always good to see a fairly new Reploid getting some good field experience. He would also be a rookie if he wasn't equipped with Omega's memory chip.

Following mission parameters, Chaos decided to seek out Demos. He hid the hover bike under a crumbling balcony which hung low over the street. Then, changing his arm into it's buster form, he started running off towards te West, following the signal he had for Demos.

Fenir was given a standered hoverbike and was going solo on this mission, as he neared the area where an expedition team had been lost he began to scan for life signs or anything. All he got was just sand and more sand.

Fenir: To himself. Dammit!! I at least thought i would see something. Guess not, well i better look around.

Fenir brought his bike to a stop and got off and started to trek around, he opened a comm channel to HQ so as to send direct report of the current situation. He quickly brushed a lock of his hair out of his eye. And then he saw it, he wasn't sure what it was, but as he got closer he realized what it was. A reploid head. Fenir quickly opened up the comm channel directly to Signas.

Signas: Yes what is it Fenir??

Fenir: I found the expidition team, they are dead.

Signas: Damn!! Well i sugguest you head back to base.

Fenir: I will, I'm going to do some more investigating on what happened.

Signas: Okay, just be careful.

*beep* Hi, this is Satina. Please leave a message after the beep! *beep*

"Satina... Satina... SATINA!! Answer the phone!!!"

Satina glanced at the phone, and turned away. Whatever it was the captain wanted, she really didn't care. All he had done to her since the beginning of the mission was to repeat these four words. 'Don't screw it up.'She had heard this a million times. The captain would squint his eyebrows, rub his mustache, and sigh each time he would say his little lecture. Everytime she picked up her phone, it was the captain...

For her first mission, they sure didn't seem to have much confidence in her. She sighed, grabbed a small handbag, and walked outside, slamming the door of her hotel room behind her. She made sure everything was in place. Her notes, camera, wallet.. but there seemed to be something missing...
She stopped, and glanced down at her pockets. She pulled out a pen, and began twisting it apart. Once opened, a colorful set of buttons were revealed, all blinking to their colors.

Satina pushed one button, and placed the pen behind her right ear, and walked downstairs, her hair pulled back into a large bun. She tapped the pen, and continued down the stairs.

"Moving downstairs, so far, so good." She said, her index finger placed on one side of the pen.

"Good, just keep your eye out for anything, and don't trust anything." a small voice from the pen said, bearly audible.

"Roger. Everything is under control." She replied, making her way to the elevator.

She smirked a little, as the elevator began coming up from the fourth floor. She was on the twelth floor.

Just then, another young man stood behind her, as a sudden chill ran down her back. It was the feeling of cold steel...

"Funny, you don't look like a tourist." The man said, his finger laid close by the trigger.

"Looks can decieve you." Satina replied simply.

"I see." The man said, shoving the nose of the gun closer to her back. "Looks may decieve, but words don't."

Here, my friends, is a very nice picture of 'Present Day' Warlock, drawn by Flash, of course.

But anyway, on with the show...
__________________________________

His trenchcoat flapping around slightly in the wind, Warlock watched from the same large apartment building from were he encountered Reverb before. And as he gazed down at the destruction below, his body began to phase out, before disappearing all together.

Appearing on top of a building a bit further to the north, the ex Commander walked over to the edge, peering over and down.

He was searching for the Flash lookalike, someone who he felt he might as well follow as the Hunters continued to scout the scene. Atleast this way he might find something and once again help the Hunters from the outside.

Spotting Reverb walking continuing to move north, Warlock quickly blinked once again to the next rooftop, instantly feeling a bit drained.

Warlock: "Gotta... Stop doing that... So much."

Blinking behind his visor, he walked over to the edge, intent on keeping an eye on the reploid who looked so much like his dead friend...

After his run-in with Proteus, Xion turned and began a heated discussion with the reploid holding his foster father's arm. Xion checked the model number, the design, and finally the joint security system. It was most definitely his foster father's arm. Xion let out a small whimper as Proteus placed an arm on his shoulder in compassion, but Xion shook it off. He grabbed the Alaris, comming Signas that he would be on the isand for a while, something personal. He quickly sped off towards the district where he'd once lived before his foster parents had suggested he become a Maverick-Hunter. He slowed down considerably, just in time to see something that shouldn't be. He pulled out his new A-Buster, walking silently up to the thug pressing a handbuster into a young woman's back. Suddenly, the thug heard the A-Buster charging and saw a longsword flash up to his neck. The thug dropped the gun instantly, wetting his pants and swearing he wasn't up to any trouble. Xion let the thug go, staring at the young girl. She was the one he'd seen in the window earlier.

Xion:Hello, madame. My name's Xion...Xion Light. I'm a Maverick-Hunter. Are you alright? This place used to be better than this.

Satina:Yes, I'm fine. This is my first time here, so I wouldn't know. you said something about a Maverick-Hunter? You don't look like a reploid. You look like an ordinary human to me.

Xion led Satina to a cafe he knew of that was empty. It had belonged to Gato, his foster father. As he poured some cola for Satina, he fixed himself a coffee, explaining about his "construction".

Xion:You know the Dr. Light, Dr. Wily story. Well, Dr. Light had hidden plans for a cross-reploid. A creature half-human and half-robot. The good doctor found that only he had the abilities to create such a creature wothout consequence, but he needed the proper DNA. The DNA he used was garnered from an unexpected source. It came from his son, James Alaris Light. His son had died of a heart attack, and he wanted him back. So he built me. Luck saw to it that the DNA was perfect. Nobody ever knew that Light had had a son. My real mother was a woman by the name of Danae, but I never found out more about her. So that's my history.

Satina:You're half-human...how is that possible?

Xion:I don't know. My human capabilities are reproduction, heightened nerve senses, more emotions, and bleeding. Robot powers of mine are heightened reflexes, timed reactions, enhanced strength, weapon capabilities, and such.

Satina looked awed at Xion's abilities. Xion looked awed at her.

Xion(thinking):What's wrong with me? She's a human...I'd outlive her. It would hurt too much...unless I deactivated myself when she died...but I'm a reploid...I can't fall in love!

Demos surveyed the area directly around the APC and gestured for all the Hunters to close in.

Demos: Did we find anything?

Reverb: With the help of Security Droids, we've found some forensic evidence here...but I'm afraid there isn't much left. Whoever did this didn't leave much evidence.

Demos: I see.

Demos looked at Proteus. He'd seen Xion shove Proteus earlier.

Demos: What's up with Xion?

Proteus: I don't know. I think a family member of his died here...but he didn't say anything to me. He rejected my attempt to comfort him...

Demos shook his head.

Demos: Well, we're all Maverick Hunters. We don't have time to get into these emotional games. We have a job to do! Proteus, if you see Xion again...I think you should remind him of this.

Proteus: Yeah...

Proteus entered the APC, even though Demos had not dismissed anyone. He was sick of the heirarchy. He sat down and began thinking about the voice he'd heard earlier. But within moments, he heard the nearby door slam. It was Demos.

Demos: What the hell was that?

Proteus: ...

Demos: You think that was funny or something? First Xion and now you!

Proteus stood up and turned away from Demos. He took out a mobile SAU (Surface Evaluation Unit) and began scanning over his skin slowly...ensuring that his systems were functioning correctly.

Demos: You didn't used to be like this, Proteus.

Proteus: How would you know...

Demos: What?

Proteus: Nevermind.

Demos frowned and pointed an angry finger at Proteus.

Demos: You just make sure that you get yourself in line next time we go out on a mission like this...

Proteus walk past Demos toward the door, but stopped short and eyed him closely. His tone was quiet and deliberate.

Proteus: People died today. What happened here is far larger than even your tremendous ego. I recommend keeping your mind on the mission at hand...sir...

And with that, he exited the room and headed for the APC's mobile control center. They'd be heading back to Hunter HQ anytime soon...

Fenir was still walking around the area where the camp was supposed to be but all Fenir found was traces of the camp. An artifact here, an arm here, and what even creeped Fenir out the most was the expidition's head's journal. Obviously there had been rumors of a rouge reploid that had been going around killing people. As Fenir headed back towards the bike he noticed that the hoverbike was a heap of molten slag. Fenir's sensors picked up something but it was way too fast for him to keep up with. He finally saw what it was, it was a reploid. It was an animal reploid but it was like a fast moving monkey. Soon it stopped and looked at Fenir.

?????: Hello. I hope you can stay to play and not bore me like those others did.

Fenir: I don't think i will bore you.

Fenir drew his sword and kept it in the normal element because he didn't know what element this thing was weak against.
