Shadow stood in the sewer. His mission to find warlock then he would be detailed what to do then.As he was walking ,His movements becoming ever silenter as the morph chip accomidating to his body to be stealthier because of the energy guns in the sewers to protect against who knows what. He had to beat the information where warlock was out of a reploid.Alone He kept running along till he heard something . He stood still until it started coming.

????: why did i have to come down here

Shadow: who are you

???:who said that

shadow reveals himself

???:who the hell are you

Shadow: none of your business. why are you down here?

That instance the reploid fired at shadow( the reploid didn't even know shadow's capabilties.) he dodged the blast and attacked the reploid with his shadow saber hardly making a sound. The reploid
went down. Hard .

???: help this maniac is attacking me

Shadow: why should they help. the cameras saw you attack me first

shadow knew about the cameras becasue half of the cameras belonged to metacorp his founding company

Shadow: I need information

???: why should i give you anything

Shadow started charging his omega buster

Shadow: because these sewers are a dangerous place and lots of bad things can happen and no one would notice

???: those cameras they see you

Shadow: but no one will help you

Shadow aims his omega buster at the reploids head

As Havoc was pounded even further into the animated cliff wall, his rage began to climb higher to a level higher than he had ever felt before. A sudden break in the yellow plasma blobs that were fired at him gave him the chance to roll out of the divot in the ground that was made by his body being hammered around.

Havoc backflipped upwards, onto the bowl-like cliff wall, before dashing straight up. A quick, boost-empowered jump put him in slashing range of one of the sniper droids. He landed on the head of one, before rearing his right hand backwards. With a single, swift jab, the sniper droid now had a nice, clear hole where it's power core once was.

Havoc dash-jumped once again, just as the drone he jumped on exploded. He fired a thin beam of energy from the buster that formed in place of his left hand. This sea-blue blast, obviously the DX-Buster was set on Rail Gun, went through two more droids, as they crossed each other.

Two more explosions insued, as shrapnel disabled another one of the First-Level droids. Havoc landed, croutched, with his right hand, still gleaming with energy with the D-Claws, bracing him upwards so that no damage would befall him from his ten story plummet.

At this point, the Napalm replica turned it's fiery cannon towards Havoc, and fired a glob of nitro-charged plasma his way...

Fenir, Xion and X had walked out of Signa's office and headed towards the training dome to watch Havoc train and to speak to Signas. Fenir had was hoping he would be able to go on a huge mission, he had heard about the Replimasters and he was wondering what had happened to them, he finally decided to talk to X.

Fenir: Hey X i was wondering if you could tell me about the Replimasters.

X: They were a very powerful enemy and really did some damage to our forces. Anyways i heard that you were built to resemble Zero, well whoever your creator was he or she did a pretty good job, except for the hair and armoring.

Fenir:Yeah, oh and my creator somehow came in contact with both yours and Zero's battle data, that's how i know of some of the enemies that you fought.

X: Really??

Fenir: Yeah. So What was Havoc in Iso for??

X: From what i heard is that he got into a fight with Zero and they really got into it, except Havoc was court-martialed and the judgement was passed that he was to be put in Isolation.

Fenir: Oh

Xion seperated from the group, not intending to see Signas. Instead, he walked slowly towards the data room, hoping to piece together his own existence. He punched in "Light, William" for his search. Several results came up, but only one of them caught his eye. "AlarisX Project" was almost hidden at the bottom of the screen. Xion delved into it, trying to find clues to what was wrong with him and why he felt strange compared to the reploids and Hunters. He got his answer.

File:WARNING! This is a confidential file. Read with caution.

Dr. William Light, creator of famed robots such as Rock, Roll, and Blues, was believed never to have an heir or a blood relative. He did marry for a brief time before he began the construction of Rock, but it was thought that his wife died without bearing a child. However, there was a son, James Alaris Light. When James was born, he had a heart condition that, if not for William Light's fast mind, would have killed him. James continued to the age of eighteen without seeing much of the outside world. But one day, his own mother shut off James' heart-assistance module. James died. Dr. Light, maddened by grief, sent the woman away and frantically began to think of a way to reanimate his son. He had just finished the famed "reploid", MegaMan X, and so began to construct his son's new life on that basis, thus beginning the AlarisX Project. The project succeeded, resulting in the first combination between human and robot, bridging the gap completely. Dr. Light, before sealing his now-named "AlarisX" into a cryo-capsule, said that when James awoke, he would be free to obey his own rules, feel wmotion, yet act for the most part like an ordinary robot like X. Dr. Light died four years later.

Current whereabouts of AlarisX are the Maverick-Hunter Headquarters, under the name of Xion. "Xion" is a challenging and fierce opponent, to judge from his training scores. Xion has only one drawback in his system: he can feel untainted emotions, enough to drive him to act rashly and unseeingly.

END FILE

Xion stood aghast. He fell to his knees. Most of what he'd said, he'd heard from the hologram from Dr. light, but still his spine shivered. Xion got up slowly, shook himself off unsteadily, and walked off to find Demos or Proteus, hoping he could get some answers and perhaps a mission.

Reverb looked at Nova's buster... It was one of Dr. Light's products all right. Using thermoptics, Reverb could see that the internal power battery was the same as the one used in Warlock's original Hellspawn buster.

Reverb stopped. 'How did I know that?' he thought to himself. He'd only just found out Warlock's true identity, how could he know something as classified and impossible to research as that?

He paused, saying nothing. Nova looked at him with suspiscion.

Nova: Hey now, why'd you go quiet all of a sudden?

Reverb: Oh, uh, it's nothing. Warlock, he used to be the squad commander, right?

Nova: For the elites? Yeah, he was. You probably know the story. He was discharged after the 'Airstrike' incident.

Reverb: And what about Flash?

Nova smiled slightly.

Nova: I figured you'd ask sooner or later. Flash was the first commander of the Elite squadron... He was originally the Commander of Squadron 1, until the Elites were formed. Warlock was just below him commanding Squadron 2...

Reverb: And they became the commanders?

Nova: Yeah. Flash the CO, and Warlock the XO. Together, they held more authority than .

Reverb: ..? The former Commander of the Hunters?

Nova: Yeah. But that was before Signas came around. The Repliforce alliance, all that... There were alot of changes, and neither Flash nor Warlock liked it.

Reverb: I know I was activated a year after Flash's... death.. How did he die?

Nova paused for a moment, taking a second of silence in memory of that fateful day. Then he spoke.

Nova: It was an ambush... Flash went Kamikaze while the rest of us escaped. He sacrificed himself for us..

Reverb: I... I see. I didn't know.

Nova: It's okay.

Reverb: And just one more--

Before Reverb could finish his sentence, a voice came over the PA. Signas.

Signas: Attention. All available S-Class hunters, including the Elites, please report to my office immediately. We have a situation.

Reverb and Nova looked at each other. Sounded big. At once, they stood up, and headed towards the elevator. Reverb pressed a button, and the elevator moved sluggishly towards the library. He grew impatient. Grinning, he looked at Nova.

Reverb: Race ya.

Nova: You're on.

At once, the two reploids pivoted, and spriting in the opposite direction, taking the long network of hallways to reach Signas' office. Dashing, kickjumping off of walls, and reaching breakneck speeds, the two Reploids rocket down the corridoors of Maverick Hunter HQ.

Demos glances at the man who looks so strangely like Dr. Levia, before leaving the training sim viewing gallery without a word. He heads solemnly towards Signas' office, leaving Havoc to battle the droids under only the watchful eye of the Doctor's lookalike.

Xion, who was already on his way to Signas' office, met up with Fenir and X, who had just left it. After a quick nod-of-the-head greeting, the three reached his office before anyone else. Signas stood, hands behind his back, looking over many massive holographic screens, with a crack team of tacticians and strategists all around the room. His office was more than just an office--It was the Operations command center.

Signas turned around, seeing the three hunters enter the room. He nods, and awaits the others. Soon, Demos, Nova and Reverb enter. Signas looks distraught.

Signas: Only Six of you? Where's Proteus?

Demos: I don't know, I haven't seen him around.

Signas: Xion, Fenir, X... Where are the other Elites?

X: I don't know, Sir.

Signas: Forget it. I'm sure you six are up to it.

Demos: What's going on.

Signas turns to his left, and activates a large holographic map of the city. A large red circle targets one particular area, and zooms in. It's an abandoned communications tower, by the looks of things.

Signas: Looks like an old Comm. tower, doesn't it? Well think again. This is one of our Satellite launch silos.

Nova: Well it's simple. We move in, eliminate the threat, and move out.

Signas: I wish it were that straightfoward. However, the silo has been out of operation for many years, and we've been unable to keep tabs on it.. It looks like they've fully restored it.

Demos: So they can launch a satellite. Big frickin' woop.

Signas: ...The launch mechanism is tactical strike capable, if armed with warhead.

Demos: What?!

Signas: Our sources inform us that the intruders have an arsenal of at least six N^H ballistic missiles..

Demos slaps his forehead with his hand, and drags it down over his face. He can't believe it. With an expression of rage, he shouts at Signas, raising his fist only inches away from the Commanders face.

Demos: You IDIOT! How dare you leave such a potentially dangerous weapon unguarded! What type of sad excuse for a Commander are you?! You...

Demos pulls his fist back, about to strike Signas. Everyone else flinches. There's no stopping Demos when he gets angry like this. And most of the time, he's right. Just as he goes to punch Signas square in the chest, a blue plasma shot smashes into his forearm, and Demos staggers left, his arm smoking, a heavy gash left on his armour. With clenched teeth, he turns to face the direction of the shot. He already knows who it is. There's only one person with the arrogance and the guts to shoot at Demos. Zero. Demos glares at Zero, hatred in his eyes.

Demos: I aught to do what Flash should've done years ago...

Zero: If Flash couldn't do it, what makes you think you could?

Demos: Just watch.

Signas stands foward, shouting in desperation.

Signas: Please! Not now! All of you, hurry! We have no idea when they may strike. Go to the armoury, pick up some heavy weapons, defensive items, load weapons into your busters, whatever you want! The entire armoury is at your disposal. Chances are this isn't going to be an infiltration mission. This is a break-and-enter, kill anything that moves operation. Go now. Zero, you stay here.

Zero: Fine...

Demos scowls and shakes his head. He turns away from Signas, and leads the other five out of the office. They head towards the armoury.

Pressing himself against the edge of the wall Warlock slowly edged through the sludge of the sewers, trying not to make a sound at all.

He'd already bumped into several Hunters patrols, and not wanting to damage them, had to continuously run and evade, many of them getting a shot or two in. Thanks to that his trenchcoat was now in ruins and floating around somewhere, and his body itself was covered with burn marks and damaged armor.

One thing was for certain. He needed to get out right of the sewers right away and get his armor repaired. If he didn't, he'd most likely get into an inescapeable situation sooner or later and be left having to fight his way out, probably damaging himself much further while doing so.

Biting his lip slightly he slowly edged his head around a corner, instantly spotting a barricade of steel and weapons guarding a ladder leading upwards. It was pretty much guarded quite heavily for just a simple exit... And it couldn't of been built quickly enough to be meant to stop him.

So it obviously one very important exit/entrance. Very important indeed. But really, at the moment Warlock didn't care... He needed to get out, and this was his best bet.

Smiling, he quickly spoke into his comm unit.

Warlock: "X7... Commence distraction."

Firestorm Phoenix sighed, currently leaning against the wall in his little outpost surrounding the only way up into the underground Hunter vehicles bays.

It was a key position to hold. But he hated it... No action ever happened down here. Nothing at al--

Hunter Gumbie #1: "Movement to the east!!"

Hunters Gumbie #2: "Man the guns!"

Firestorm Phoenix leapt to his feet, quickly running one of the windows of the very low and small outpost, looking out to the east. And what he saw was enough to make his mouth gape open.

Coming down the narrow sewer tunnel was probably the fear of every Hunter. Sigma himself, a big grin on his face, and Vile, in the Goliath. Around them were assorted big baddies, such as Agile, Violen and many others that X and Zero themselves had fought.

Hunter Gumbie #3: "But... Ain't some of those guys dead?"

Hunter Gumbie #2: "Do they look dead to you? Now, OPEN FIRE!!!"

Waves of energy, fire and other elements swept at the Mavericks... Only to go through them.

Firestorm Phoenix: "What the...?"

He was about to fire again when he heard a scrambling noise behind. He quickly turned around, only to see nothing out of place...

The ladder in the middle was secure, the power generator was running smoothly like usual, and the door on the side was rocking back and forth slightly.

Firestorm Phoenix: "...I thought I closed that."

Shaking his shoulders he went over and shut it tight, before joining the others in looking to see who caused what was obviously a hologram.

Warlock sighed, leaning against some metal canisters, trying to avoid been seen by Hunter mechanics and such working on a hoverbike only metres away...

Closing his eyes, he decided to do this the hard way.

Getting to his feet he walked right past the mechanics, who quickly pulled out their energy pistols and pointed them at the black and crimson reploid.

Mechanic: "Who are you?!"

Warlock: "Hologram Mouse. Like my impression of that ex-Hunter guy?"

The mechanic just stared at Warlock, before nodding and waving him past.

Thank god Hologram Mouse, a real Hunter, was well known for walking around as prime figures of the past and present of the Hunters.

That, and the real Warlock here was too lazy to think up a better way to get out. Everyone give him a hard kick.

The six Hunters headed down the corrider from the office. They kept silent, glancing warily from each other to Demos every second, in fear of him snapping. Moments later they were at the door of the armoury, Demos pressed a button at the side of it and it gracefully slid open with a quiet swishing noise.

They all stood for a while looking around at all the add-ons for their Busters, shelves and shelves of sabres lined the room everywhere and various sheilds hung on the wall, or were balanced against it. Then they all went off into seperate parts of the room, looking for different things.

Nova wandered slowly over to get some add-ons for his Buster. He was wondering what to get when a voice interuppted his thoughts.

Reverb: Hey Nova.

Nova nodded at him.

Nova: What're you getting here?

Reverb: Heh.. it's a surprise. You?

Nova: Oh in that case, mine's a surprise too.

Reverb: Hmm, I'll catch you later Nova.

Reverb walked off towards the more powerful Buster additions, Nova watched him walk off before looking back at his choices. He was stuck between Grenades and Cyanide Gas Grenades. Shrugging, he flexed his left arm and his Buster extended over it. He took the barrel off, put it in his brown pouch and attached the Grenade barrel, locking it into place by twisting it once. He then opened a small flap on the side of his buster took out his normal Plasma shot chip and put in the Grenade chip.

With all this done, he smiled and flexed his left arm again and the Buster folded back into place. He glanced at the shelves of sabres and lances that surrounded him, but he quickly remembered his own MXRSabre in his belt. He didn't need a sheild, due to the heavy armouring on his left arm, up to the huge shoulder-pad he wore on that arm. He looked around, everyone was still choosing. Sighing, he leant on the nearby wall, crossing his arms and closing his eyes for a minute..

Fenir was actually surprised at the outburst that occured in Signas' office, he couldn't believe that an officer would dare try to strike his commanding officer, most of he was surprised to see Zero. Finally, he had gotten to see the reploid in which he was built to resemble, he soon saw that Zero had quite an attitude towards Demos. "Man, i didn't know those two had such bitter blood between them. Yeesh! Hope i don't piss Demos off." Fenir looked over some of the armoring, he finally decided to pick up the lightest but strongest armoring, he walked over to a bench and sat down and waited for the signal to leave. While he was sitting down he re-did his self-diagnostic and found that the power surge had subsided. Soon Fenir noticed that he was being watched, he opened his eyes and looked over and saw Xion walking towards him.

Xion: Ready for your first major mission??

Fenir: Yeah, little nervous, but it'll subside.

Xion: How come you didn't take any weaponary?

Fenir: Eh, don't need any, all i need is a subtank, which i already got.

Xion: Oh. Okay.

Xion walked away and Fenir closed his eyes and was searching his databanks for anything he could find out on Demos and Flash. All Fenir found out on Demos was that he was Havoc's brother and all he found out on Flash was that he performed a Kamakaziee so as to protect his fellow Reploids.

Fenir: Dammit!

Reverb: What?

Fenir: Huh? Oh hello, may i ask your name?

Reverb: Its Reverb.

Fenir: Oh hi, i'm Fenir.

The two shake hands.

Reverb: So what was that little outburst about?

Fenir: Oh i was doing some data research and i couldn't find out what i needed.

Reverb: Oh, sorry.

Fenir: Oh that's okay, don't worry about it.

Reverb: Well i guess we better get ready.

Fenir: Yep.

Fenir stood up, his brown hair flowing behind him, he walked towards where Demos was standing, somehow Fenir had a bad feeling about this mission, he decided to activate all three elemental interfaces which would create his nova elemental interface chip, this was a backup in case something bad happened.

Reverb searched through the recesses of the Armoury. He didn't find anything appealing in the buster section. As far as he was concerned, his buster was strong enough all ready. He wanted something different. He turned a corner, and was presented with an impressive rack of external weaponary.

Rifles, Bazookas and other assorted firearms lay neatly lined up along the wall. Reverb rubbed his chin, carefully examining each weapon. He wanted something powerful, something different. His attention was drawn to a stylish box, Black and green, identical to the colour scheme on his Shoulder Mods and joints. Curiously, he approached the cabinet, and check around to see if anyone was watching.

He didn't know why, but something inside him didn't want anyone to see what he was doing. The case seemed to be sealed, with no noticeable entry. He placed a hand on the case, and a bright green light immediately began to radiate from around it. The casing seemed to turn to liquid, melting away from it's rectangular shape. Inside, it revealed a long, slender rifle, quite large, but very lightweight. Once again, the colour scheme matched his own. Also, there was a small sphere, only about the size of a marble, floating in mid air. It was marble coloured, an elegant mix of black and white. And in silver writing, the symbol F was visible on the 'front side' of the sphere. It hovered there for a moment, before beginning to 'speak'. The voice sounded like that of a young man.

F: Reverb, this weapon is a Positron Rifle. Use it wisely. Press down on green strips above the trigger, and it will enter compact mode. It can then be stowed in your Shoulder Modules.

Reverb: What? Who are you?

F: I am sorry. This message is pre-recorded. I cannot converse with you now. We will meet again, in due time.

With that, the ball shattered into a thousand fragments of Light, dispersing into the air. There was no trace of what he had just witnessed. Frightened and Confused, he holstered the weapon in his right module, and took off, heading back to the main section of the armoury, to meet up with the rest of the squad. He was ready.

Xion smiled to himself, grabbing his small bag of equipment. He pulled out his utility belt, checking all the pouches and pockets for his weapons. He found his new A-Buster module resting in his locker, equipped it into his arm, and tested it on a wall. He made a mental note to repair it before Signas found out that there was a huge security breach in Xion's room. As Xion made for the armory, strapping on his longsword, he also grabbed a pack of cigars and cigarettes. As he walked through the door, he headed for the weapons station. He grabbed a few thermal bombs, two semi-automatic guns, and a silvered hunting knife. He smiled as he grabbed a sub-tank and spare copies of Flame Stag and Storm Eagles physical attacks, storing them in his buster. He heard a small voice chime in his buster.

Equip Program:Flame Stag's Vulcan Jab, Storm Eagle's Wind Dash.

Xion smiled grimly and jumped on the Alaris, revving up his engine and waiting for Signas to give the team the go-ahead to commence mission.

Fenir stood against one of the weapon lockers and noticed Reverb coming out of a recess with a shocked and perplexed look on his face, you know like the look you get when you just saw something that scared you and at the same time amazed you. Anyways, Fenir had been standing against a weapon locker observing the rest of the squad, he noticed that Demos was getting more and more agitated, Fenir hoped he wouldn't have to take this guy in for a court-martial cause Fenir had done a quick scan of Demos and he found that Demos was more powerful than him, just by a little. Fenir stood upright again and walked over towards Reverb.

Fenir: Hey, Reverb. What's wrong?

Reverb: Huh? Oh nothing.

Fenir: Oh, okay.

Fenir decided to go talk with Xion.

Proteus stirred. He could feel movement, but he wasn't walking. His scanners detected intense heat coming from the east and west of his position. And he could hear what sounded like air vents opening and closing, releasing steam into the area. It sounded like large cooling turbines. Proteus could also hear footsteps clanking against a metal floor. And after regaining some consciousness, he realized that he was locked in an air-tight container of some kind. The container was being carried or dragged down what sounded like a metallic hallway.

Proteus tried to move his fingers, but he couldn't. The metallic casing was sealed tight around his body.

After a few moments, Proteus heard loud "whooshing" sounds moving back and forth. It sounded like air-tight blast doors. A quick check of his internal sound libraries confirmed that it his initial impression was indeed true. And finally, everything stopped. Proteus heard nothing. For several minutes, Proteus sat upright in his metallic coffin, unable to move or see what was around him. But shortly after being dropped off, he heard more footsteps.

The first pair of footsteps were very light -- it sounded like a woman in high heels. The second pair of footsteps were heavier and slower. They were clanking against the hard metal floor, echoing across the room (which Proteus thought must have been enormous, based on the vibrations). And then he heard a third set of footsteps...these footsteps were different again and they made Proteus feel nervous. They were slow and deliberate. They were heavy; very heavy. And in between each step, a sharp whirring of hydraulics and titanium structure could be heard. As each step hit the floor, it was followed by a heavy hissing sound, almost like the air-brakes on a large bus.

Suddenly, the metal casket opened slowly. Dim light poured inside, offering Proteus his first glimpse at the room. He looked at the ceiling first, which was made up of large metal plates. The plates were stained, as though the room hadn't been cleaned in many years. The walls, too, were stained. They were also made of metal and were punctuated by red warning lights and large yellow numbers. In this room, the number "07" was printed on the wall. And there, infront of him were three figures. The first made Proteus double-take; it looked like Dr. Karman. But at the same time, she looked different. Her black hair was not flowing behind her...instead, it was tied in a neat bun on hear head. She wore a shiny metallic visor over her eyes and she appeared to be wearing some sort of black armor. On each hand was an angular glove, with sharpened fingertips.

The other two figures were not so easy to see. Proteus tried to activate his night vision sensors, but they had been disabled. The woman stepped out into the light, leaving the other two figures shrouded in shadow.

Dr. Karman: Welcome, Proteus.

Despite her imposing appearance, the Doctor's voice was soft and pleasant. Proteus looked around the room once more, his eyes finally settling on the Doctor's face.

Proteus: Nice place you have here...

Dr. Karman removed her visor, revealing the brilliant silver glint in each of her eyes. Proteus hadn't noticed it before...

Dr. Karman: Yes, it suits our purposes quite well. Of course, this isn't where we do all our planning...much too dangerous to take a reploid like you to a place like that.

Proteus had absolutely no clue what was going on. He needed to find out.

Proteus: Why am I here?

Dr. Karman frowned suddenly. She took a step closer and stared into Proteus' cybernetic eyes.

Dr. Karman: No, no. It doesn't work like that. What am I, Dr. Wily?

At that remark, the two figures in the shadows chortled quietly. Dr. Karman simply smiled.

Dr. Karman: My associates know all too well that it is not appropriate to show our cards so early in the game. But since you're so curious, I'll give you a little hint; you are going to help me.

Proteus' face screwed up at the Doctor's comment.

Proteus: I'd never help you!

Dr. Karman stepped closer again...

Dr. Karman: Didn't think so. But no matter, I don't need your consent to get your help.

The Doctor looked at her watch and looked back up at Proteus.

Dr. Karman: The Hunters know that we're here. They know we're using this communications tower to launch our own satellites. But there are two things they don't know; they don't know who we are...and they don't know that their first victory will come at your expense.

Proteus was puzzled. He didn't understand.

Proteus: What do you mean?

Dr. Karman: We have been attaching warheads to various satellites, which we will be launching in exactly six hours from the silo right next to the tower. We know they're coming...and we know they'll do anything to stop those warheads from launching into space. So, what'll they do?

The figure on Dr. Karman's left stepped out from the shadows, its heavy feet causing the floor to vibrate with each step. It was significantly taller than the Doctor and wasn't like any reploid Proteus had ever seen. Its body was entirely cybernetic...but its face was real. The face appeared to have been grafted onto a metallic exoskeleton. This wasn't a reploid...it was a cyborg.

Cyborg: They'll shoot it down, that's what.

The cyborg's voice reverberated around the room. The eyes started at Proteus coldly...the flesh was stretched over the machine's harsh metallic frame, on top of its neck. For the first time in his life, Proteus felt sick.

Dr. Karman: Oh, I forgot to introduce my partners. This is Gunner.

Gunner grinned, revealing his knarled, sharp teeth.

Dr. Karman: And this...

The second cyborg stepped out from the shadows. Proteus nearly lost his breath at the sight of it...

Dr. Karman:...is Massacre.

The second cyborg was literally twice the height of Dr. Karman. Not only was its horrific face grafted onto a metal skeleton, but parts of its expansive chest and abdomen were not covered by metal. Proteus could see numerous thick cords snaking their way through the internal structure. They were pumping blood from a human heart, which was encapsulated well out of sight. Proteus saw various organs and small pieces of flesh that were attached to titanium struts with tiny networks of metallic hooks and steel webbing. Two pipes were protruding from the enormous creature's back; they looked to be emitting some sort of steam or gas as the creature breathed. Even the sound of its breath was horrific; a deep, wheazy echo, followed by the sound of small hydraulic parts moving in unison.

Dr. Karman: You see, Proteus...we are going to launch a warhead from here. And you are going to be attached to it. When they blow it up...you'll be completely destroyed. You'll give your life...just like Flash.

Proteus' eyes narrowed.

Proteus: Don't ever say a word about Flash...ever.

Dr. Karman laughed softly.

Dr. Karman: Hm, I didn't know robots had feelings. Oh well. Gunner and Massacre will take good care of you while I'm gone. I'm going to be well away from here by the time the Hunters arrive...

Proteus: Coward...

Dr. Karman spun around and grinned malisciously.

Dr. Karman: Make sure to use plenty of adhesive, you two. Oh and...make sure to record the events for me. I'll quite enjoy seeing the Hunters destroy a friend.

And with that, the Doctor exited the room. Gunner and Massacre's expressions hardened...and they moved in on Proteus, their twisted metallic-and-flesh bodies blocking out what was left of the dim light...

A Medic-bot strolled casually down an outdoor corridoor around the outskirts of Maverick Hunter HQ. He was on his way back to the main infirmary--He was getting back from an injury during a training excersise for Squad 72. Someone's Buster had backfired. 'Typical', he thought to himself. He secretly wished something big would happen. For the last five years, all he'd done was tend to training-related injuries. There was never any on-the-field, front-line, war surgery. It was always plain sailing around HQ.

His thoughts were interupted as a Black hand chopped him in the back of the neck, disabling him. Warlock sighed. He didn't like hurting innocents, but this was urgent. He looked through the Medic's supply belt and bag, finding nothing. He lifted the Medic up, and found a few thigns scattered under him. Warlock picked up a small device he found on the ground. An EFS battery... Emergency Fuel System. He smiled, and plugged the cylinder into a port under his chest plate. Instantly, a shot of fuel was shot directly to his Micro-Fusion generator. That was enough.

After dragging the Medic into a space between two buildings, He looked around, and found a vantage point. An building not too far from the HQ. Apartment, offices, He didn't care. As long as he could get out before he was found. He activated his blink system. Instantly, Warlock appeared inside an apartment building. Sadly, Warlock was a little hasty in his desiscion. There was someone else in the building. Warlock tried to blink again, but realised he was drained. 'That damned EFS was only enough for one Blink... just great. Look like I'll have to take the long way out.'

Warlock looked behind him, spotting a Window. He could make a break for it. His sensors detected someone was just outside the door, so he decided to do it then. He went to turn and push off, but he couldn't. He looked at his leg. He'd Blinked halfway into a Wall. He rolled his eyes, and grabbed his face with his free hand. Looks like he'd have to gun his way out of this situation.

And then the Door opened.

Standing in front of him was a female reploid, totally naked and wet, rubbing her face with a towel. She couldn't see him, but he could see her. All of her. 'And is there alot to see...', thought Warlock to himself as he eyed her. 'Snap out of it! What the hell are you going to do!?'

Warlock just waited as she grabbed a Skin-tight bodysuit from her wardrobe. She practically slid into it, while the trapped Warlock couldn't help but sigh to himself that the show was over. She grabbed two gauntlets, placing them on her forearms, and a pair of Shoulder Modules and vents, locking them onto her shoulders. Finally, she took out a pair of knee-high black boots, putting them on as well. By his guess, Warlock would say that was all. She slid the door of the Wardrobe back, and looked at reflection of herself in the mirror on the sliding door.

Iota: All right Iota, time to do your thing.

That's when Warlock realised he could see himself in the Mirror. Which meant she probably could too. She had just begun to tie her hair back into two long ponytails when she realised it as well. Quick as a flash, she jumped backwards, grabbing two Handguns from a Holster on her dresser that Warlock hadn't even noticed. She pointed them at him cautiously.

Iota: Who are you?

Warlock: Don't mind me, I'm just... stopping by.

Iota: Don't play dumb... Wait...

Iota notices Warlock's leg, stuck halfway into her wall. She raises an eyebrow, and then frowns, blushing.

Iota: Have you been in here... The whole time!?

Warlock: Uh, yeah.

Iota: Ugh! You pervert!

Warlock: Don't feel bad. I can honestly tell you that you're very... Talented.

Warlock narrowly evaded an onslaught of bullets. They were solid rounds, much to his surprise. Everything was energy based these days--It was interesting to see someone still using the older rounds. And Six-shot revolvers? 'She must be a real pro... Or just really stupid.'

Warlock: With your guns! I meant with your guns!

Iota: Sure, whatever.

Iota grinned, and put her hands on her sides, still holding her guns. She tilted her hips to the side, aiming a suggestive pose at Warlock.

Iota: So you like what you see, huh? How about you slide that visor up so you can get a really good look.

Warlock tapped a button on the side of his helmet, and the pitch black visor slid up, revealing his dark-red eyes. He had a red tattoo coming from his right eye down to his cheek, something Iota hadn't noticed before. This was an ensignia used by Wily-bots back in 20XX. Iota snapped her fingers.

Iota: No way... Are you... Flash? The oldest Robot still in existence? Built by Wily back in 20XX?

Warlock: No... But I knew him. We were squadron leaders of the Elites back in the Maverick Hunters. This tattoo is... Just in memory of him, I guess.

Iota: Oh... He died?

Warlock: Just over a year ago..

Iota: I see... I'm sorry. Were you two good friends?

Warlock: Yeah.. But that doesn't matter now.

Iota: So why's an Elite Hunter like you sneaking around in my apartment... Getting yourself stuck in the wall?

Warlock: I'm not a Hunter anymore. I was discharged awhile back.

Iota: Ah, discharged. I know how that goes.

Warlock: You were a Hunter too?

Iota: Yeah, over in Europe. Went to Japan for awhile as well. But enough about me, hot shot. What's your name?

Warlock: ...Warlock.

Iota: Warlock? Cute. I'm--

Warlock: Iota. I know.

Iota: Oh, right, the mirror... But anyway. How do you suppose we get you out of that wall, 'Locky?

Proteus awoke for a second time. He couldn't see anything; the room he was in was pitch black. As he looked up, he saw faint beams of light in the distance. His internal sensors indicated that the time was 6:15PM. Proteus assumed that the lights were not natural, based on the time.

When he tried to move, he found that he couldn't. He was stuck to some sort of large metallic object. The satellite, he thought.

Proteus did not have time to ponder the situation; he could hear those heavy footsteps approaching from his right...sure enough, each step was followed by the heavy hiss of steel hydraulics. Proteus thought that the cyborg's makeup suited their nature -- they weren't even made of titanium, which was standard for all Maverick Hunters. Instead, they appeared to be made of a combination of steel and iron. Large, heavy and power hungry. That's what the cyborgs were. As slow and inefficient as they appeared, they were still much larger than any reploid Proteus had ever seen. Larger and much, much stronger.

The enormous machine passed infront of Proteus slowly. It stopped momentarily and breathed on him; the breath smelt of burning flesh. And then it continued on its slow, systematic patrol.

The sheer bizarre nature of his surroundings had made Proteus forget what now seemed inevitable; his own death at the hands of the Maverick Hunters. How would they know that he had been attached to the satellite? He guessed that they knew he was missing by now, but in the back of his mind he questioned that assumption. He knew he'd been behaving differently lately and that the Hunters might simply be inclined to give him some space. Perhaps they thought he had gone training or even on a vacation? Such concepts were not out of the ordinary, given recent events at the HQ. Proteus hoped this wasn't the case, but he felt that he was hoping against hope. Hope was a very human concept and despite Proteus' best efforts to hope for his own safety, the robotic elements in his brain were too strong and forced too much doubt into his mind. Afterall, the robotic side of his brain was governed by logic and nothing else. And so, this moment felt like a single still frame that illustrated many moments in his life; moments where the overpowering logic of a situation fought against the emotional, compassionate side of Proteus' mind.

These thoughts made Proteus question the situation even further. Would anyone miss him? He had no family, so why should it matter if he dies? Maverick Hunter HQ would surely only produce a replacement reploid. The HQ still had Proteus' core blueprints on file. That thought was depressing to Proteus, but he was prepared to accept it.

Despite the difficult situation he found himself in, Proteus also wondered about Dr. Karman. How was she able to work within Hunter HQ for so long without being discovered? And if she did work in Hunter HQ as a counter agent for many years, what did she know about the organization? To Proteus, this line of thinking was much more discouraging. So far, Dr. Karman had not put a foot wrong. She knew how to take Proteus and she knew how to operate under the very noses of the world's most advanced military establishment.

Proteus also wondered what the Doctor's motives were. And perhaps more importantly, was she running the operation or was she merely a scout for someone higher up? These were questions for which Proteus had no answer. He knew that the Hunters were not aware of the current goings on...but he suspected that they would soon discover the awful truth.

Demos sweltered with rage. Firstly, that lame excuse of a commander Signas... How could he have been so STUPID?! God, with any luck, a warhead would hit HQ and eliminate the entire Hunter force. That moron Signas. Leaving such a devastatingly powerful resource unattended.

Secondly...Demos had half a mind to go back right now and break Zero in two with his own hands. Zero, who had taken his fair share of swings at other Hunters for no good reason, had the nerve to stop him when it was deemed necessary?!

Sighing angrily, like others have seen him do in his century and a half span of existence countless times, Demos stood, downloading various weapon extensions, including a Fusion Rocket Cannon addition, which will be helpful in getting through re-enforced walls.

Grabbing three extra power cells for the Warhammer Sabre, Demos decided to take something he had left out that time with the...attack...with Flash: The ZSI Combat System command chip (Which will be explained in a later post. And no, Flash, not the BlackWing ZSI..;)).

Demos...was ready.

.:Elsewhere, sometime after when the Elite Squad leaves:.

'This is wrong, completely and totally wrong. And I know I'll live to regret this.' Those were the thoughts that raced through Signas' head as he sent the message for Havoc to go with the Squad...

And that's all for today's episode of "Confusing-*** ****."

Warlock rolled his eyes and shaked his head. Iota had only known him for a minute and she was already calling him 'Locky. "Doesn't anyone ever call me anything else anymore?" thought the reploid, before he focused on the task at hand.

Warlock: "I know a fairly good way. Though I'm afraid this might cause a tiny bit of damage."

And with the speed of a professional he pulled back his right hand, smiling as it retracted back into his arm, revealing his buster. Pointing it at the wall, a bit to the left of his leg, he gritted his teeth as it began to power up with a 'whine'.

Iota: "Hey, now just wait one mi--!!"

Too late.

With a low 'belch' a ball of energy leapt from the confines of Warlock's buster, coming in contact with the wall almost immediately. Burning through the hard wall with ghastly speed it degrenerated almost instantly, imploding and sending a small shock through the room.

Iota: "..."

Upon looking at the destruction just the small blast had caused Warlock was glad this wasn't his own wall. Practically that entire side of the wall had cracks in it, and right in the middle was a large, blown out whole, broken edges poking out through the wall surrounding it.

Smiling, the oldest robot in existance pulled in his slightly burnt leg, quickly looking it over before turning to Iota.

Warlock: "Real sorry 'bout that, but it had to be done."

Not giving Iota a chance to speak he began to head for the door, quickly waving to the female reploid as he went.

Warlock: "Just send a message to either Havoc of the Maverick Hunters, he'll give you some money. And tell him 'Lock will pay him back soon."

And with one finally grin Warlock leapt out the door.

Iota just stared at the door he had just left through, a look of anger on her face. As part of the wall behind her collapsed she quickly ran out the door after the ex-Hunter.

Iota: "Don't think you're getting away that easily!"

Demos raised his arm, and swung it around, pointing it at the door.

Demos: Let's go people. The clock's ticking.

Everyone began to quickly exit the armoury. Demos glanced at them filing out, giving them all a quick once-over to see what they'd equipped themselves with. As per usual, X was the most elaborately equipped, brandishing a gleaming suit of Red Hyper-Armour, not to mention a Z-Sabre and Z-Buster. Demos just rolled his eyes. Why don't you just hold a sign above your head that says 'I am Zero's bitch', he thought to himself. As he chuckled, Reverb walked past. Demos raised an eyebrow.

Demos: No equipment, Newbie?

Reverb: Actually, I've already got mine.

He tapped his right shoulder module.

Demos: Okay. Whatcha got in there?

Reverb: It's a suprise.

Demos considered saying something, but just let it slip. He let Reverb continue, and exited the Armoury last, locking the door behind him. Security was usually pretty loose around here, but since the Replimasters, everyone had a little wake-up call.

All six of them boarded Alpha, and this time there would be two support vehicles escourting them. Alpha was pretty well-armed, but it was still just an APC. Also, two Pilots, a Gunner, and a Communications officer were onboard. This was heavy. It'd been awhile since anyone had accompanied the Elites on a mission.

Reverb: This mission looks like it's gonna be.. pretty heavy.

Demos: Yup... Fear the worst, Newbie.

Reverb swallows, and sits down towards the back of the APC.

---------

Iota slammed her front door closed, and chased the Red and Black reploid down the corridoor of her apartment building. As she slid around a corner, she caught a glimpse of the fleeing Warlock. He turned around, rolled his eyes, and sped up. Iota does the same. Finally, Warlock reaches the limits of the corridoor, a dead-end. He thinks fast, and leaps out a window, grabbing onto a fire-escape. Iota jumped out behind him, and followed him up the ladder. Warlock stopped, and shouted down to her.

Warlock: Dammit! Stop following me!

Iota: Fine then.

Iota's left Shoulder module opened up, revealing a small black handle. She grabbed it, and a massive string of light emerged from the small metal casing. She lashed it once, and with a sharp flick of the wrist, she swooped it up, grabbing a rail higher up on the fire escape. Then, in an impressive show of acrobatics, she flipped herself upwards, pulling herself on the whip. She landed a few levels above Warlock, and looked down at him, smiling.

Iota: Kidding. I don't plan on leaving you.

Warlock: Iota... There's no need for you to come with me.

Iota: You're joking. I work as a security guard. It sucks. I haven't had to do anything for the entire time I've worked there. I'm just wasted talent!

Warlock: I live in the badlands. It's a constant struggle to survive, and I'm currently holding a nice placing in the Hunter's black books. If I were caught anywhere in this city, let alone Hunter HQ, I'd probably be killed.

Iota: Sounds exciting!

Warlock frowns, and raises his voice slightly, trying to maintain a calm tone.

Warlock: Belive me, it's not. Don't drag yourself into this.

Iota opened her mouth to say something, but was interupted by a massive whirring sound overhead. They both looked up, only to see Alpha accompanied by two support vehicles. They were heading to the industrial sector. Warlock looked puzzled.

Warlock: Two support units? Must be big...

Iota: They've got six Hunters on board the APC, and four non-combatant units... The support vehicles are also carrying four hunters each, as well as non-combatant reploids.

Warlock: How'd you know all that?

Iota grinned at Warlock, and tapped the radar device mounted on her ear. He raised an eyebrow and nodded.

Warlock: Interesting. Can you get any information on the mission?

Iota nodded, and closed her eyes. She began speaking.

Iota: They're using an encoded frequency... I can make out something about a tower... A silo... Not much more.

Warlock: ...Dear lord... I know what's going on.

Iota: Oh really?

Warlock: No time to explain.. Do you have any EFS modules?

Iota: Yeah, I think I have some inside.

Warlock: Good, go and get them. What about transportation?

Iota: Well, I have a Hovercar...

Warlock: It'll do. Let's go. They're probably going to need some back-up.

Iota: But you're not even a Hunter anymore. And besides, won't you get arrested or killed if they find you?

Warlock: I don't care... My friends come first.

After a quick EFS powerup, keeping one or two for a later date, both Warlock and Iota found themselves down at ground level, about to enter the female reploid's hovercar and track down Alpha and it's companions.

The ex-Elite was doing one last double check of his systems, this most likely been his last chance to make sure he was ready for anything that might be thrown at him. The moment he began to tag along after the Hunters anything could happen...

His self evaluation systems giving him the green light, Warlock tapped the side of his helmet, his visor lowering back down and covering his eyes. With a quick nod to himself he walked over to Iota, who was standing next to the driver's seat of her hovercar.

Warlock: "Okay, let's go."

Iota: "Keep the visor up 'Locky, looks better."

Warlock just grinned, shaking his head.

Warlock: "Sorry, this is just my style..."

And with that he took a step forward, about to jump into the driver's seat of the roofless hovercar. Well, that was until Iota stepped forward.

Iota: "Not to fast hot shot. My car, I drive."

Warlock: "Listen Iota, I think I have just a little more experience dr-"

Iota: "Nope, sorry. Turn around and get in the other seat."

Warlock just stared at Iota, before sighing and backing off, quickly jogging around to the other seat and jumping in.

Warlock: "Just let me drive if we get into a hot zone, okay?"

Iota: "Maybe."

And with that she got in and quickly started up the car...

Iota pulled the throttle all the way back, and the Hovercar bulleted foward. Warlock had never seen so much power in such a small car.

Warlock: What type of Car is this?

Iota: Mini Emoton. Type-S.

Warlock snickered. He remembered the Minis of the early 21st century. Virtually the smallest car on the market. He remembered Doctor Light owning one at some point... But then again, Light owned alot of cars in his lifetime.

Warlock: A Mini, huh? I don't recall them being this fast.

Iota: Of course not! I added a little something extra.

Warlock: Such as...?

Iota: A Skyraider afterburner.

Warlock turned around, and realised there was infact a huge jet engine built into the car. It took up the bulk of it. In fact, there was only just enough room for a driver and passenger. The Skyraider was one of the fastest jets in the world. He wasn't too sure if having it in the back of a tiny Mini was the safest way to go about things.

Warlock: Ahh... As fast as we're going, I don't condone that.

Iota: Relax, it's perfectly safe. Unless I do this!

Iota flips a small lid up on the throttle, revealing a button with the words 'Fusion Injection' in a circle around it.

Warlock: Uh, you're not going to press that, are you?

Iota just smiles at Warlock, and presses it. A whirring sound begins from behind them.

Warlock: Oh. You did.

A Nuclear Fusion device somewhere around the engine flared up, and injected masses of energy into the afterburner. The Mini Emotion tore through the sound barrier, and Alpha was quickly in sight. Warlock nodded.

Iota: That's the APC?

Warlock: Yeah. And they're almost at the Comm. tower.

Iota: Okay. I'll shut off the boost, I don't want to overheat the engine.

She clicks the Fusion button once more, and the Mini slows back down to a more tolerable speed. Warlock flexes his hand, preparing for combat.

--------

Back at HQ...

--------

Zero walked down a corridoor, heading to the training rooms. They didn't need him. Yeah right. Without him, they stood no chance, he thought to himself. A message from Signas suddenly came up on his HUD.

Signas: Zero, we have a problem.

Zero: What's up?

Signas: There's a Maverick approaching. Information tells us his name is Shadow.

Zero: I see. Which way's he coming from?

Signas: Western Sewer, Section B.

Zero: Alright. This will be dealt with shortly.

Signas: I've dispatched your squadron as well, Zero. He sounds strong.

Zero rolls his eyes.

Zero: You're losing your strength, Signas.

With that, Zero turns to the nearest elevator, and steps in, heading to Sub-Floor 3; Sewer access.

Shadow was still in the sewers. He called the metacorp foundation because he was unfamiliar with these sewers and they told him his closet exit was north.Shadow was running along hardly making a sound because his morph chip had made him more stealthy. Shadow had run into somee sentry guns so that is why he set his morph chip on stealth.Shadow was running along heading for the exit until he heard something.

???: What was our mission again

???#2:Our mission was to look for a maverick in the sewers

(shadow thinking): a maverick the cameras would've already spotted a maverick

???:did commander Zero give us and information on the maverick

???#2:something about how it's name is shadow

(shadow thinking):damn they must have gotten information from that reploid in the sewers. Now i've got zero and his squad on me

Shadow stood there for a second thinking. Then in his hiding spot he drew his saber and jumped at the reploids hardly making a sound hitting them and knocking them out.He then looks at the weapons of the reploids.

(shadow thinking): packing a lot of heat for just a maverick their after

Shadow then absorbs one of the reploids voices and comm signal

(shadow thinking): better make this quick i can hold this guy's voice for about thirty seconds so I have to make it quick

Shadow w/ reploids voice talking on comm:Help. the maverick's at the south exit. Hurry i can't hold it for much longer

Shadow then starts dashing toward the exit knowing that his trick will only hold them for a minute or two.

Fenir was pacing on the main deck where everyone else was, he then looked over and saw that Demos was giving him a hard stone cold stare, Fenir looked over again and thought "Shut the hell up Demos! You may be my commanding officer, but i know that if you so much as cross the line once i'll be jumping down your throat faster than you can say scrapped." He began pacing some more, and then he felt that the ship was slowing down, he took his seat next to Reverb and waited for the ship to land.

Fenir: Hey Reverb, you ready for this mission?

Reverb: Yeah, I'm okay.

Fenir sat and looked over at Demos and saw that he was grinning, Fenir was ready for the wrost, if Demos in fact decided that he would try to do something stupid then he would have to go through Fenir.

...Actually, Demos is one of the most intelligent and experienced Hunters around, save Warlock. You're being the stupid one thinking a rookie with literally no background could hold a torch to him.

Demos sneered at Fenir. The fool could barely contain his fear. Fenir's face was flushed white, his biomechanical pupils shriveled to tiny specks. This kid was definitely cannon fodder, but this was something he would just have to instantly learn how to do.

Demos, ignoring his hatred for the weak and stupid, turned to one of his better combat buddies, Nova. It was strange, seeing Nova standing there, just looking out the window.

In retrospect, it was almost the same as that day with Elec, Plant, Wood, and Magnet. Sometimes, everything reminded Demos of that day. Specifically, the way Nova just peered out the window, in the exact same spot.

Demos shook off this sudden nostalgic feeling, and stormed back into reality. He saw Fenir, who was still staring at him. Demos slightly smirked, as he dashed over to Fenir, the modified D3-Buster slamming into his face.

Fenir was stunned, shocked, and frightened at the same time. Demos' overwhelming speed was certainly not to be taken lightly, and the sheer power of his buster could rip a hole through a full-out energy shield.

Demos spoke softly, the barrel of his buster glistening in the light, still imbedded in Fenir's left cheek.

Demos: "Look here, rookie, you're wearing on my last nerve. Don't forget, that while I might not be the best at it, I am still in command. And I don't appreciate leers from some newbies who barely made it through Basic. Now stop staring at me, or you'll be the first thing I kill today. Got it?"

Fenir said nothing as Demos violently pushed off of him, and went back to one of the three-dimensional outlines of the tower, looking for any way of an 'easy' entrance.

Fenir, still in his seat, rubbed his cheek silently. Somehow, he suddenly didn't feel as confident in himself in protesting against Demos as he did before...

Satina sighed as she laid down. She began to wonder if she had failed her first mission already... her only mission...

"Well, looks like it's back to Johnson's office... writing and stamping papers..." She said to herself, watching the hands of a miniature alarm clock move from one half of the clock to the other. "I really thought I could do this... I bet they've already left by now."

Satina turned to face a small, old fasioned television screen. She held the remote out at a 90 degree angle, and began switching thruogh the channels. Wonder if the boys did anything useful lately... She thought as she serched for an english news channel. She stopped as she saw a large building on fire on one of the channels. She squint her eyes at the screen, and tried to make out the captions below.

"We were just doing our job." A young man exclaimed, who had obviously been caught in the fire. "Just then, we turn around to see our missles destructing by themselves! The fuel must have leaked when the fire reached to the weapons." A man said, pointing to the factory in flames, his safety hat charred with ash.

Satina's eyes grew large as she noticed a small logo on the side of the factory.

"Who would have done such a thing? Do you know anyone that would do this to the base of the Japanese weapon factory?"

The man shook his head.

Satina leaped up, and stood wide-eyed at the screen.

"Of course!!" Satina exclaimed, quickly reaching for her bags and jacket. She hurried out the door, slamming the door behind her. She decided she wasn't going back to Boston so soon after all...
