Excerpts from press release:

"Since we began Adult Swim, the goal was to build it into an across-the-schedule franchise," said Jim Samples, executive vice president and general manager of Cartoon Network. "Now, with the power of FUTURAMA, original comedies, acquisitions and Japan's best anime, we have the depth in our Adult Swim programming portfolio to make it happen now."

Adult Swim has earned a loyal fan following for Japanese anime imports Cowboy Bebop and InuYasha, which blend beautiful animation with hard-driving action. Both series will join the lineup Monday-Thursday. Cowboy Bebop, airing at 12 midnight (ET, PT), follows the exploits of bounty hunters Spike and Jet as they roam the galaxy taking on various assignments and tracking down criminals in a hyperspace world rampant with crime and opportunities. InuYasha, which will begin at 12:30 a.m. (ET, PT), follows the quest for a powerful enchanted jewel by a modern young woman who is accidentally transported to a feudal land inhabited by demons.

Cartoon Network's Sunday night Adult Swim lineup will remain dedicated exclusively to comedies. The lineup begins at 11 p.m. (ET, PT) with popular animated series Mission Hill, The Oblongs and The Ripping Friends.

I got this from a reliable website. They kept the crappy sunday a.s. but got rid of the saturday one. That means, to see Inu-Yasha, I'd have to stay up late on a school night, which I cant! I guess I wont be watching great anime on saturday night anymore.

They're going to keep saturday's Adult Swim Action block. They're just adding more nights to it and getting rid of that darned Midnight Run block... at least that's what I heard.

And what's wrong with Adult Swim Comedy on sundays? I happen to like Harvey Birdman and The Oblongs.

Actually they are getting rid of the Saturday block and you can click here to see for yourself from a reliable source.

For all of us anime fans who see dubs on cn, this was a bad move for adult swim. Like you said outlaw_star, they've moved inu yasha and cowboy bebop to weeknights which sux for anyone who has work or school the next day. There's always recording on the VCR but u cant do that all the time. I also don't get where yyh, outlaw star, msg, or the other animes went. Don't they realize a lot of ppl just watch adult swim for the anime? Hopefully, they'll make changes to this schedule be4 it airs in January but so far it seems pretty one-sided to comedy cartoons.

I guess thats the problem. I heard that their reports say that younger kids stay up later on sat. than on the weekdays.(no duh) I guess people complained because they didn't want little kids seeing those shows so they changed the schedule.

But I thought kids was their biggest audience on Saturdays for Adult Swim....they're really doing some messed up stuff now. I enjoyed the anime block on Saturdays, and I can't stay up that late on Weekdays, plus setting a VCR is just a pain. I have to say, I'm disappointed at this. Adult Swim was never that good, so I guess this is just the end of it for me. >.<

That's the entire point of them taking it off, I suppose. The entire point of Adult Swim is for adults to watch it, not kids. They're going out of their way to make sure kids don't watch Adult Swim. I guess they're afraid of parents writing letters and complaining about why a block of adult cartoons are on at a time when children could see them.

I think that's ridiculous. They're not really "mature" shows, they're more like TV14 or something.... It's almost impossible to put something on Cartoon Network at any time when no kids will see it. I'm sure now some kids will be motivated to stay up late and watch, or people will just record it. If they wanted shows that were truly only for adults, they shouldn't have put them on a network that is otherwise made for kids. It's just not a very smart idea.

Cartoon Network was never designed for kids because not all Cartoons are for kids. Adult Swim is technically "adult" because there are themes that are designed specifically for adults. Do you thinks kids watch Space Ghost Coast to Coast and understand most of those jokes there? They just can't have anything 100% uncensored due to the fact that it is network television. This is a good move in my opinions to root out kids and keep them from watching. I'm sorry if anime fans have no way to watch or can't catch their favorite shows but it is "Adult" Swim for a reason.

This is extremely stupid, A S is my only pleasure in life. I record the ones i can't buy...........my vcr doesn't have a timer!!! I will have to stay up on a school night sacrificing my sleep for this idiotic decision. I will wreck havoc on all that dare move my few hours of crappy tv salvation. I was planning on buying them anyway but this was a welcome release from the retarded world i have to dwell in.

Im not sure if I like this or not.

I like having inu and cowboy on for the mid night run.

but I dont like not having saturday or any weekend anime.

Im just getting tired of cn. Although I love the fact that they are the only channel to show anime, it still sucks that they jerk us all around so much.

I'm confused...

Some of you say kids will just stay up and watch it, anyway.

Some of you can't watch it because you can't stay up that late on a school night.

Is anyone else lost?
no..... Some kids parents dont care what what their kids do (like staying up late on a school night) and some parents make their kids go to bed. The only kids watching will be those with careless parents or who stay up and watch secretivly. Even though I have to go to bed at 10:30 (but I usally stay up till 11) I'll try to stay up to watch, but then of course I'll be a zombie at school.:drunk:

Of all of you that have complained about not being able to stay up to watch Adult Swim anymore, how many of you are kids with school in the morning and/or bedtimes?

Rooting out kids was the entire point of the move. I'm not saying I fully support it, but I believe stopping that demographic from watching will be achived to some degree when they move the shows next year.

And I think they'll probably bring back Yu Yu Hakusho when FUNimation is ready to let them air new episodes.

well, (insert appropriate word) this is gonna mess w/my 6.45 wake up
Endymion, you forgot ppl who work

vegeta rocker/ how about leaving a tape in your VCR running overnight (yea, i know it stinks but i did for months)

now if they'll just show macross...

I have to admit that CN is the staple of any $challenged person (me) who loves anime though I heard there was another channel on Direct TV that showed anime, but I think it's only in Calf.

EDIT: been checking VP-Master's link, the ppl on the board there seem a bit miffed, but there bringing out some points about schedueling
Personally I feel CN is just covering there butt (kids can still easily program there VCRs)
Is it clear the age group CN is trying to disuade from watching AS anyway? 7-10? older?

My, aren't we overeacting?

It is sad that they're taking the Saturday night block off, but CN has good reason to, no matter how much we don't like it. Little kids are getting access to shows that the shouldn't be getting on a T.V. channel that is usually based on kid programming. It's sad that it's off, but for moralistic support, not to mention being sued or something of that sort, it good.

People who work aren't part of the equation. Yes, there are people who work who have to go to bed early. There are also adults who are work at 12am. When you get down to it, there were people who work Saturdays from 11pm-2am. If Cartoon Network's goal was to put Adult Swim on at a time when every adult could see it, they'd have created an Adult Swim Channel that shows the exact same shows over and over 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Kids, on the other hand, are more likely to be alseep during that time than an adult.

I know this topic is a bit old but theres new information that I thought should be added withouht making another topic, so here.

Lupin III, Outlaw Star, Inu Yasha, Zoids, Yuyu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cartoon Networks Schedule starting Saturday, January 11th includes Anime 5 days a week. The only days in the CN schedule that will not see any Anime are Friday and Sunday.

The Adult Swim Block, running from Monday to Thrusday will see two hours of Anime, starting with the addition of the Lupin the 3rd TV series at midnight:

12:00AM - Lupin III
12:30AM - Inuyasha
1:00AM - Yu Yu Hakusho
1:30AM - Cowboy Bebop

Toonami on Saturday will be extended to a seven and a half hour block including two hours of Anime, one and a half of which are Dragonball:

6:30PM - Dragonball
8:30PM - Zoids
9:00PM - Dragonball Z (full hour)

Also of note, on December 7th, Outlaw Star, which does not appear to be in the new schedule, will be cancelled in favor of an extra episode of Inu Yasha.

Lupin's in there but like earlier, I still think the schedule sucks.

eh, I dunno why they bother keeping Zoids around. *bleh*

so they're showing the tv show Lupin, right? *does happy dance* hopefully if enough people like the tv show, they'll show a couple of the movies :D.

as for the whole debate over them getting the schedule changed to later times, I agree with what they're doing. maybe not as an anime fan, but I can certainly understand why they're doing it. if I had a child, I wouldn't want him/her to see quite a few of the things they show on A.S. (like that Yogi Bear cartoon they aired a while back that looked like the animators of Ren and Stimpy drew it; I couldn't even finish watching it). true, there'll always be kids that see things on tv when they're not supposed to regardless, but at least they're making it more difficult for that to happen, and will hopefully discourage more of it from happening.

and I'm sure that deep down in their hearts, they're sorry for all the fans that won't be able to see their tv shows. but they can't please everybody. so of course they're going to please the people that can file lawsuits against them for airing shows with questionable content at times that their kids are still awake.

just my two cents. :whoops:

:) Sigh, fun night this has been ok, well lets get down to the nitty gritty with this. Ironically I posted this schedule in another thread here but since that's dead it's alright to discuss it here better off since it has to do directly with Adult Swim.

Well personally most of the animes on that block are bleh....some good some bad. Personally I'm very pleased to see a classic like Lupin III being brought out over here it's about freaking time CN ^_^ hehehehe...

Though I must agree....Zoids is still being pushed, it's way beyond it's prime. First run was ok but after the 6th run it's starting to get very old.
