However, I'm not sure if I should buy it. Also, I would have to split it with my 12 year old brother, so could you say if it's appropriate for his age group. He doesn't understand that most anime isn't kid friendly.... But Orphen's not bad. There's some swearing, and I believe on the second DVD, there's a brief slice of a nude-shot or something, but it's not major. It's pretty good, especially if he's already 12, so it really shouldn't matter. There's nothing really bad in it, and it's not really that bloody, are you sure it's Orphen? I let my brother see it...but then again..he forces me to let him..lol He's the same age as your brother. I'm not sure..it depends on how strict your parents are I guess... Except maybe Majic....I don't like Spike Spencer's voice for him...it just sounds weird. I bought the PS2 game after seeing the anime, and it really wasn't the same.... I think the english version was done very well. I liked the dubbed Orphen, they even bothered to get real children voices instead of using the same one as the "adult" orphen. And the dub followed pretty closely. I have the dvd's, so I've compared the subbed version to the dubbed version. See, Orphen lost his REALLY good friend when she turned into a dragon, I believe her name is Azalie (sp?). Well, he gets this sword to help her, but it's not powerful enough, so he has to get more magic, and power so he can bind her. Orphen starts traveling on the road, still looking for a azalie, or a way to help her. Oprhen also travels with 2 companions. Yep yep....I love almost everything about it, and I'm ALMOST done with the first season. ^-^ I actually like Orphen's dub....I think David Matranga did a very good VA job. ;) After comparing it with the subs, it sure is different, and has a different script, but the dub just adds a little more spunk to the show. ^^ I dunno, overall I really like the dub, except maybe for Majic's voice.
