Mario for the 64

I wanted to get a little chat about mario 64. More specifically to help get me through the game.

Not a walk through, that would be silly and way too big.

I'm thinking about maybe specifics like where specific things are. Or how to beat that water level I'm on now with the rotating shape thats eight sides but looks like its two pyramids stuck bottom to bottom. Each time you run through one the water goes to its level.

I've beaten the first few, but the later ones are killing.

Any advice?

Please starting puting it here.
thanks,

I can help you (I'm a master of Super Mario 64, heh), but I'll kinda need to know more details if you don't want a walkthrough for the level. (It's called Wet-Dry World, by the way). Specifically, which Stars are you having trouble getting, and what's giving you the trouble?

Something that might help regardless, though, is knowing that there's a secret warp in the level. You have to have the water level all the way down, and then go to the small little tower thingy made up of three platforms, that has one of the water level diamonds on top of it. Stand in the corner the platforms make on the ground, and it'll warp you up next to the Cannon. Once you've opened up the Cannon, this warp can be very useful for getting up to the top level without having the water level really high.

Uh...switches? To get the Wing Cap, all you need to do is get 10 Power Stars. When you do, there'll be a beam of light shining down in the foyer of the castle. When you look up into it, you'll be warped to the Wing Cap level. (The beam of light disappears after the first time you enter the level, but you can still go back into it by looking up where the light was shining down from). Then all you have to do is fly down onto the top of the tower sticking up in the sky, and Ground Pound the red switch. That's the only switch involved with getting the Wing Cap.

What abou all the stars in big small land.

specifically the five secrets.

What are they and how do you get them.

Plus, why dont we just put up something to the extent of an unofficial guide.

I dont get to play too often because I have to manually switch everything between my ps2 and my n64, right now Ive gone back to the nintendo.

so lets get rolling... if you guys are cool with that. Any help is much appreciated.

thanks a whole lot.

Lol...I'm already writing a Super Mario Sunshine walkthrough. I'll post up a little walkthrough for individual Stars that people need help getting, but I don't have time to help write a whole walkthrough.

As for the "Five Itty Bitty Secrets" Star, it's not actually that hard, if you know your way around the level, both big and small. Anyway, the five secrets are: In the middle of the pool on top of the mountain, in front of the hole where the giant cannon balls come out to roll down the hill, in front of the entrance to the mountain (the place where you'd go in to get the eight Red Coins), where the cannon is, and next to the doorway that you start out by, on the side with the pool of water where Lakitu flies around.

So, yeah, that's all there is to it. Switching back and forth between big and small makes it easier to get around on the island, but remember, you have to have it small to be able to get the secrets.

Well thanks, thats pretty much what Im looking for.

I have the n64 hooked up now, so I should be back for more help questions tomarrow.

1 question now though, what is the last level.

I'm working on a bowser level thats at the top of a stair case that never ends until you get something like 70 stars.

so... whats the last level?

thanks

That is the last level. At the end of the third Bowser level, the one at the top of the staircase, you fight Bowser again, as the final boss. Instead of only having to hit him once, though, you have to hit him three times. Also, he has a few more tricks up his sleave, but I won't give anything away.

I will say, however, that the fight is my favorite boss fight in any Mario game. It's hard unless you have some practice with the fight, but it's the most fun I've ever had with a boss in a Mario game. Thinking about it makes me want to play it again, and fight him.

Yea, actually, by the time your post was up, I had beat it.

I think I had beat it before that also, but it doesnt matter.

I want to know what the power stars are that I need to get ten of so I can get the flying cap.

although I gotta say thanks for your help with everything, and Im sure Ill be asking for more.

thanks again,
kent

What are the Power Stars? Hmm...that's kind of a hard question to answer, actually, since it doesn't tell a whole lot about them. Basically, they protect the castle, though they must not do a very good job if Bowser can just come on in and steal them. :cross:

If you have the flying cap just go onto a level and find a red box with a "?" on it and pound it open and take the cap. Then jump up in the air to fly around, but it's better to shoot yourself out of a cannon, then you can fly farther.

Im not so stupid I couldnt figure out what those boxes are, but for now they are all tranparent because I havent found the "master switch" yet.

so any help on that master switch (to be really specific for ya) would be much appreciated.
