You are not all powerful, and you are certainly not one to be able to levitate another, even if you are half Itsari. So get lost, or I'll stick James and Warlock on you.

And I would of course...come back at you with a snappy and truthful statement about how you never signed up for Yoda's X-men thread...and used Rogue's, my powers, in the bargain. But since you said not to apoligize, I won't.

The way he looked at me was unerving. Like he had seen the me, threatening him. But then, I remembered that the great Eye would be untruthful to him...if only to serve in bringing the Ring to Him. But of course, the Eye was very truthful, when it came to the matter of the Ring's safety. He looked at me like I was the lowest snake....then I looked away.

"You..."

"Did you see the Eye?"

"What of it?"

"If you did, I must tell you.....it is never truthful, unless His safety is concerned....do not believe Him..."

"Who should I trust?"

"I can not tell you what is right or wrong. But if you want to believe a lying, schemeing sorcerer, that only wishese to bring the Power back to Himself...go ahead."

Gurthang: I don't know who to trust anymore, Nepenthe, It's all so stirred inside me...

Nepenthe: You know that the eye, that it lies, don't you? Or has it gotten into you that much?

Gurthang: Yes, I know that. But, what's even more...it said if I didn't get you out of my way..that...that I'd...I'd...die.

I almost stopped talking when that horrid word had to come out, but I did it. As much for me as her..

Nepenthe: Oh, hush Gurthang. The eye doesn't predict everything. It could be lying to you...

Again, she brushed my face, and there was pity in her eyes. A bare pity. A so innocent and unnerving pity. I felt the tears begin to flow, but I held them back.

Gurthang: But...what if it is true, what if it is?

Nepenthe: Do not worry. When the time comes, if it does, it will. For now, let us live what life you may or may not have to live...

Again, that naked pity spun into me...I wondered if she was truly feeling compassion, or if it was all a ploy, just like that of the eye. I was so undecided, I felt shaken and broken all over, trying the regain my lost shards of knowing.

She leaned in closer, face inches from his, then kissed him gently. She placed her hands on his face and opened a link between them.

"It won't kill you....to cry."

"I...."

He sighed, if he trusted her...would he die? And if she was offended, would she attack with a spell of death?
~~~~~~
I felt sorry for him, even though my true feelings were hard to sift through.... I both loved and despised him.
The tears rang fire upon my cheeks, plastering them with my stirred and weakend emotions. And I not only felt indecision, but I know felt that I somewhat cared for Nepenthe. I had hated them all when this had began. I was just a hardend and stolid bounty hunter. But now I felt different, like I could leave my hate behind. Maybe for the better, and, if it came, the worst. But, I knew Sauron had something left yet to force upon me.
But for now, for now I let those tears pierce me, I let them smother around me, extinguish my pain. I felt foolish for crying in front of her. But, I knew there was something deeper to her compassion, I could feel it. It was as if she unconditionally loved me, yet loved me more. I cannot describe what I felt as those tears rained down droplets of sorrow. I cannot even begin to describe it. It was like I had left the past behind--the death of my parents, my stolid reputation as a bounty hunter. It was as if I had become born from my blindness.
As the tears began to stop flowing, I hugged Nepenthe close, and I cried unto her shoulder.
Gurthang: I...it...it's time to eat breakfast, Nepenthe, I believe. Shall you let me clean myself up? Then I shall join you.
Nepenthe: Yes, Gurthang. All I want you to know is choose the decision that you want. Even if I might think it wrong--do what your heart wills. I'll await you at the table.
She left, and I wiped away my scalding tears. I then quickly dressed into my day time clothes, joining Nepenthe at breakfast.
He tasted so young. Like life flowing from the starseeds in my heart. It was more than enough to hold any anger I held for him at bay.
Did he really desire the Power of the Ring? It could be his. But then again, it could be mine all the more. And he did not poses the complete power to control it yet....whereas I could easily rise into something like Sauron.
But no I do not want the Ring. It almost destroyed my mother, and is the bane of my father's life. So nevermind that. I would aid another in becoming a Power of couse...but not let it interfere with my personal safety.
Maybe I should get some help.
She had already began eating when I sat down. She only made a side-glance at me and continued to eat. I grabbed a plate full, and also began eating. When we had finished, Fox signaled us to pack up our small, make-shift tenting area.
Then we were off yet again, approaching the great river, Anduin, where the ring had been origionally lost. Fox had decided to check there first, since it would be the most obvious place to look.
I tightened my grip...the staff begining to come alive. The presence of orcs made the snakes carved into it wildly estastic. It would not do to have them come to life and slither around her arms.
Chaos: Let me go Mistress....
Joy: I too...would like to be freed.
"Patience my friends...you will taste the blood soon.....very soon."
OOC: Eh, I made an error...the ring wasn't lost in Mirkwood. I had to check, to be sure. Isildur lost it in the great river, Anduin, very close to the misty moutains...so, I already made the change, no need to worry. Just a little thing.
IC: We were very close to the river, when, suddenly, I had seen Nepenthe's staff seemingly come alive...and the two snakes had spoken. At first I was rather startled, then, realizing that it was detecting orcs, I quickly withdrew my sword, taken from the great dragon that Turin himself had slain. It felt cold to the touch, yet it burned with on more than just cold. It was far more than just that.
Nepenthe: Patience my friends...you will taste blood soon...very soon.
As we came over a small hill, the orcs came within view.
As soon as they were within plain sight, Chaos and Joy came to life...and swirled from the staff onto Nepenthe's body. She smiled... Their touch never failed to excite and please her....
Fox looked over at her. A fully grown sorceress playing lightly with snakes...as if there was nothing wrong with this picture.
Fox: What do you propose we do now?
Kain: ...We fight. Obviously.
Nepenthe: Sure go ahead, fight the Uruk's of Mordor. I'll be waiting here to finish them off after you're all slaughtered one leg at a time.
Gurthang: Stealth then? It's nearly night time...
Kain: Then stealth it is.
Fox: And well found. We shall first set up a small camp upon this small hill, for we are close the the great Anduin.
So, doing what Fox had said, we set up a small camp, and we eagerly awaited full darkness. When finally the moon had become full in its appearance, glimmering fully upon the star-light sky, we then made our move.
We had come at a perfect time. The Orcs sat around a fire, feasting upon many numerous feral animals they had killed. Hiding behind a tree, we surveyed the going-ons of the Orcs, and surveyed the surroundings.
Orc1: Th' deer's mine!
Orc2: I killed it, it's mine!
Orc1: It mine kill too!
Uruk Captain: Fools, it is mine! All o' it!
Orc1: B...but...I killed it...
I saw one of the Orcs stammer back, as if startled. I then saw what had caused the startle from the orc: A long serrated blade now shimmered weakly in the low light from the campfire. I then saw many other various sized blades withdrawn from hoist, and, seeing our chance, I whispered:
Gurthang: Now is our chance! Let us attack!
I withdrew my sword, Gurthang, feeling its cold touch upon my now encumbered hand.
Hey I'm sorry I haven't been posting, I've been gone to Virginia for the Thanksgiving holidays, and the closest thing my Grandparents have to a computer is the microwave. :rolleyes: Anyways I'm back! :D
*********************************
Raiye was getting restless, she had been doing nothing except walking for the past few days. She started to run, she loved how she felt with the wind rushing past. A while later she heard ome people speaking they sounded like orcs,
"The deer's mine!"
"I killed it, it's mine!"
"It mine kill too!"
"Fools, it is mine! All of it!"
"but...I killed it..."
Gosh they were being loud, she thought, then she heard someone whisper who was not an orc at all,
"Now is our chance! Let us attack!"
It sounds like someone's goin' to fight, Riona thought. Just then she became aware of where she was going, she had been busy listening and thinking that she hadn't been paying attention of where she was going. She looked around there was someone running beside her, he was a halfling, he looked just as confused as Riona was,
Riona: ummm...
Halfling: ...hi?...
Riona: Riona
halfling: Fox
Fox stopped and hid in a nearby bush where the Orcs were arguing, quietly he drew his bow and an arrow from his quiver. He lined up his target, the nearest of the Orcs, the one who had killed the deer, he drew his breath pulled back the bowstring and let the arrow fly. The arrow flew straight and true and pierced the heart of the Orc who fell crumpling into a heap on the ground.
The other two Orcs alarmed by what happened to the colleague drew their bladed and pointed it in his direction, but Fox was too quick and had already moved to another spot and was lining up his next target, he let loose another arrow and split the brow of the other Orc that had been arguing, all the lay left was the Uruk Captain who was watching and listening intently, Fox moved one again and began to prepare for a third and final shot, however moving into his new spot had aroused a few birds that gave away his position, the Uruk Captain burst through the trees like a wild animal. He met eyes with Fox the creatures maliciousness and hatred doubled upon seeing this......halfling
Uruk Captain: What be this, such a little man has killed two of my Orc brothers, I'll rip your insides out for this...
Fox drew his elven blade it shimmered blue in the light, the Orc took a step back and rose his own blade to meet with Fox in battle, Fox was no fool but he had no choice but to engage in this fight, for his life.... Fox waited for the Orc to make the first move and quickly it came, the Orc slammed the sword down as if to slice Fox it half, Fox ducked to the side and plunged his sword forward into the stomach of the Orc. Injured though the Orc was he threw Fox out of the way with ease, raising his sword once again he prepared to end it,...... Fox would not close his eyes like a coward and saw that Kain had plunged from the trees and buried one of his twin scimitars through the heart of the Orc, Fox breathed a sigh of relief and got up thanking Kain for saving his life.....
Fox: Thanks be to you Kain, you saved me from death by the hand of this ugly beast..
Kain: Speak no more of it, my hobbit friend you fought bravely indeed, many men twice your size would not take on an Uruk captain and live to tell the tale.
Fox: Ahhh but without you Kain my dear friend I would not...come let us regroup and join the others, I feel evil presences growing within Gurthang and Nepenthe, I shall keep and eye on them, as you will I hope.
Kain: Two eyes as often as I can spare them, I too feel the presence you speak of, come let us head back to the camp.
Chaos and Joy were everywhere, snapping and hissing...burying fangs in their enemies..... Staff exchanged itself for a bloodsword, their mistress roaring aloud....filled with the joy of the hunt. The battle was over quickly.
The scent of death rose into the air. Sweet, cloying. The fires had spread during the battle, consuming the flesh of the dead or dying orcs. Gurthang sheathed his blade, smiling. Nepenthe straightened up, and hissed through her teeth. Immediatly, the two snakes whipped themselves around her arms and slithered onto the staff. They froze into place. She stretched quietly, enjoying the slight pain from the work.
Fox: Everyone okay?
Nepenthe: Never better.
Kain: Elysan.....where is she?
Riona was in the bushes and watched how the others defeated the orcs, Fox is pretty brave, she thought. I wonder what they are doing? Probably doing the same thing you are, looking for a little action and risk. she answered her own question. Then behind her she heard a very faint rustle, and felt a short wind. She turned around quickly looking frantically. Just when she was about to turn back around and go on her way, she caught a glimpse of gold, it looked like trim around a dress.
Riona: Who's there? I can see you *starts walking towards the person*
Person:..... um... Elsyan
Riona: Well come on out of hiding, don't worry I'm nice
Elsyan walks out of her hiding place in the bushes, and comes forward walking with out hardly a sound.
Elsyan: Sorry, but you haven't told me your name
Riona: Oh well, it's Riona, but most people, well, elves, call me Ri.
Elsyan: I haven't seen you before Ri, where do you live?
Riona: Oh almost everywhere, but if you mean where I keep all my stuff and have a house....in Rivendell.
Elsyan: Huh? I'm from Rivendell too.
