Ah! I really love manga! I love it more than anime, probably! ^-^ American-released manga....I suggest one of my faves, Dragon Knights. The first volume isn't that good, but all the ones after that are really excellent. I also suggest Fushigi Yuugi, Marmalade Boy, Paradise Kiss, X/1999 is really good, but a bit morbid, and depending on what you like, try Magic Knights Rayearth or Ranma 1/2. It really depends on your taste, but those are my favorite mangas. ^^ You should also check out mangaproject.cjb.net... heheheh...

Deffinitly, Ranma 1/2 is great. My friend let me borrow the first manga, and it's just as funny as the show, if not funnier.

And yeah, I suppose I like manga, not as much as anime, but meh, that's just people's preferences. However, I can admit that the book makes it easier to understand. You can read back and everything. But anime is still cooler because you see it in color, the characters have voices, and it's so much more realistic and dramatic.

Dragon Knights is great! :) Currently that is the only manga I have buckled down and read, but it's great! Heh, my friend has two of the MKR books and I will borrow them when I get around to it.

Yes! Finally someone else who likes Dragon Knights! ^-^ No one seems to like the series, but I think after the first volume it's REALLY good.

The first 3 books of MKR aren't that great IMO. I really liked the last 3 though, that was the heart and soul of the series. ;) I bought them all in a row because I just couldn't stop reading once I hit that point...

Ranma 1/2 is good, but once I had hit volume 5 I was a little sick of it... Plus Viz can't seem to decide on a common size for all the books... I couldn't see paying $17 for a book that was even skinnier than the tokyopop books. It was only like 100 pages...

I think depending on how you read, manga can be even more realistic than anime. I'm really into manga, and it comes to life in my mind, and the characters have whatever voices I want them to, so there's nothing to bother me. I guess it's simply opinion, but I would almost say manga is more dramatic and realistic. When I read something, I put lots of emotion into it, so it becomes very dramatic to me.:toothy: I recall reading Fushigi Yuugi and getting very emotional about it... Then when I watched the anime, it just wasn't the same.

I don't read manga often, just the stuff they have in the library. Like DBZ. I love Ranma 1/2 though. I haven't seen the show, only read the manga. That reminds me...must go to the library tomorrow and get some more manga...

i read manga WAY more than i watch anime. it's cheaper, you see the original art(most of the time)...

read inu yasha, CCS..those would be my starters for you...should take you a bit o cash to buy it all, but there's always *cough*free-reading-in-store*hack*

The only manga in my ever-growing collection of comic books is Akira, in all six volumes of Dark Horse Comic's recently released "Phone-book" size mangas. If I want to read manga, I just read what Barnes and Noble has, right there in the store, rather than buy them. I may become a serious manga reader someday, but Marvel and DC are always number one on my list.

I am a big fan of manga myself, my favorite of course being Ranma 1/2. The anime for Ranma is great, too. The only downside is that the graphic novels cost an arm and a leg. I try to spend my manga money on the Tokyo Pop graphic novels because they are so much cheaper and seem to be better quality than others. I also recommend anything by CLAMP.

man, it would be awesome if our library carried manga.....

my favorite shounen manga was Akira; that is, up until the 4th novel, when it started getting to be too much content-wise. the first 3 weren't as bad, they just seemed to really slab it all in the 4th one. I couldn't even finish reading it.

as for Takahashi novels (Ranma and Inu-Yasha in particular), each of the series are good up to about the 10th novel. then they just repeat the same scenarios over and over. that's probably why there are what, 34-36 volumes of Ranma 1/2 total.

I thought Ranma 1/2 was too repetitive by the 5th volume...lol. But Inu-Yasha is still pretty good, IMO. I'm on volume...21 or 22 and it does repete a bit, but not enough to be dull. ^-^

Angel Layers...sounds familier. oh, are you talking about Angelic Layers? I have the first volume of that, and it's good, but CLAMP has better works, IMO. I dunno, I mean, I liked it, but I think there's better stuff. I know a lot of people like Love Hina, but I've never read it...

Yeah, there are more volumes of Chobits coming out. According to Tokyopop there are "5+". Volume 4 comes out February 11...

I personally favor manga over the anime. :\ My favorite mangas are Kodocha, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Houshin Engi, Slayers, Evangelion, and Dragonball. (Yes, I like Dragonball manga. It's cute!)

Inuyasha's my personal favorite to date. Rumiko's awesome at getting good storylines going and her little romance scenes are so cute. (Seriously wants Inuyasha and Kagome to get together) I hardly if ever tire of her style.

I've read a little bit of Wish, and I dunno, it just didn't interest me that much...

Has anyone ever read Kare Kano? I was reading my collection the other day, and I remembered just how much I love it. It really is a great romance manga. I think Tokyopop's releasing it in 2003.. U.U
